See, you have moved from the DENIAL stage to the BARGAINING stage now--you are looking for a way to cheat and use a "miracle product" to UNDO what you will did to your intestines. Ah, if only it were that easy. And, I think I know why you are still "bargaining". Because your symptoms just aren't " bad enough". Yet. A little tummy trouble and... -
I work hard at remaining focused and calm myself. Humor keeps me going, HOPE propels me and faith sustains me. I fully INTEND to resume my once active, healthy life. No way I am settling for less. I researched this disease endlessly and have made sure I understand everything I need to do to get well and be my own best health advocate. That is why...

Honey, even my CAT is gluten free! She eats NO-grain cat food and her coat is gorgeous. She looked like heck --skinny with dull, patchy fur---when she arrived on our doorstep and now, she's healthy and happy. Why? Good lovins and NO gluten! Not do any harm to stay gluten-free?? Sweetie, the harm you are doing is by NOT staying gluten-free!! Didn... -
I agree! This is a very important point--about all meds, in fact. Better absorption may mean you require less medication and everyone should be monitored by their doctors after going gluten-free and healing the gut. Some people no longer need high blood pressure meds; some may not need cholesterol-lowering drugs, etc. Look at me. No meds. And...

If this doctor is not celiac-savvy, he will not think much about it at all. They do not GET that these symptoms you are experiencing are associated with it. They TREAT symptoms, that's all they do. So, if you're anxious, you get xanax. Insomnia? sleep meds or anti-depressants and on an on. If they don't work, they give you more. How is that solving...

We all know the stages of grief post-DX. And yes, it is likely you are experiencing the Denial part right now. Time to try and make peace with it all. It will come to you The makers of this homeopathic remedy provide no evidence about whether or not there is villous atrophy after using this product. Not good enough, if you ask me. JMHO "Odd sensations... -

Alice, You state you are still new to the gluten free diet and your antibodies are still high. Perhaps you need to give it some time. I do not know your age, but if you are older, it make take longer. People post this same question repeatedly, (and I think I have read several of your posts, too-- where you express your hope that something will... -
A few things: 1.83 TSH is not indicative of hyperthyroidism. You'll start to gain weight when you absorb more. Your gut is still healing. You are only a few months into healing. AND HERE MAY WELL BE a the major part of the problem IMHO. Melatonin, xanax, and 2 anti-depressants ????? --THAT MIX is probably causing more of a problem...
-
Well said, RODA!!---and that's just the problem. The AverageJBDoc DOES just go by the TSH alone and that's what happened to me. I was over-medicated for 2 years and went HYPER. It was awful. Could not get anyone to see this was wrong for me. I was a shaky mess with many symptoms. Your Endo is unusual and open to looking at the whole picture. You...

Hey Celtic Queen! (I feel like we are kindred souls) Thanks yes, she is quite the character. She is very upset that my family has ignored all the info I sent. She does not understand why they would not do whatever they could to feel well. Me neither. -

I have used Custom Probiotics 6- Strain powder. Excellent product, IMHO and I recently added the OTC brand Culturelle as my doc suggested it contains a strain called Lactobacillis GG that he wanted me to add in. The addition of probiotics saved me. I was really sick and I had testing done before my DX and I had NO good bacteria in my gut whatsoever... -
NO, NO, NO --do not wait, hon! I was not suggesting that at all. Please, read what I wrote carefully. Just because MINE were fluctuating and have settled, does not mean YOU should not have the TESTS run! EVERY BODY is different. My glucose levels fluctuated too and caused serious symptoms.... But I still have them checked post DX. YOU NEED FOLLOW...

Yup, that's the AMA's answer to everything...dope them up and send them on their way....do not bother to look for the CAUSE....arrgh! OY. Don't get me started...
-
I agree! Earlier in this thread, I mentioned a few tests to have run, but that is not all -inclusive by any means. My GI doc ran them all for me post DX. I felt like the vampires got me--10 vials. But I was so relieved to have someone DO THE RIGHT THING! Both CHILL and I have had similar experiences and we want you to NOT SETTLE for someone telling...

Awesome! My Mom will be 85 in Jan. She goes to the gym 3X a week and does cardio-kick boxing, the stair master and aerobics with her "girlfriends"--all in their 60's because she says "old people get her down".... I know, she's something! I'm lucky I can walk. Period. My cousin swears by her "Sad Light" as she calls it. Hope it helps your Mom! -
You said your TSH levels "came back at 1.14. It was 2.66 in March, and 1.83 in March of 2010. " Hon, these are not abnormal levels at all! In fact, they are in optimal range. That is why your PCP said it "was fine". But if you want reassurance, make an appointment. A good endo knows that celiac and other autoimmune diseases are associated ---and...
-
Okay, I had a thought....do you need a referral to another doctor with your insurance? (some require this) If so, ask the PCP for a referral to an endocrinologist. She cannot say no to you. If not, make an appointment with one yourself. Tell the endo you have Celiac and you have symptoms indicative of Hashimoto's thyroiditis and you want thyroid...

Never too late to take probiotics. She may wish to take them every day. Celiac guts need them. Have they checked her Vit D levels? Sounds as if she may have seasonal affective disorder. This is often associated with low Vitamin D--and of course, lack of sunshine. (if you live in the Northeast for example)But a baseline would be in order before supplementing... -

I second these suggestions --with some info if you decide to use activated charcoal tablets. DO NOT TAKE more than 2 activated charcoal tabs at a time, drink a TON of water because you can get dehydrated from them and DO NOT TAKE them within 2 hours of other medications, vitamins, supplements or food. Charcoal is used in hospitals to counteract... -

I like that one! I usually say "Gluten Head" to describe the brain stuff I have from gluten and I use GEs or WEs---Gluten Eaters/Wheat Eaters for "them"... -
OH, I am with you all the way on this one, Chill! If I could sue just a few of the idiots who misdiagnosed me and gave me DRUGS to try and pacify me/shoo me off, I would. When I think of all the years I blindly accepted a doctor's word as gospel I could just cry. It all just made me WORSE! After a while, I threw the scripts they gave me in the wastebasket...

Oh Babs, I am so happy you had a good time!!!!!!! I am glad the travel cards worked so well! Did you print them from the site I recommended? Oh boy, I LOVE Greek food (being half-Armenian) and I just knew you would be okay since most of the food is -as you say--naturally gluten-free!! Yaaaaay! and no "glutenings" for you--awesome! Cheers...
