  1. @ PSawyer--thanks for the laugh this morning! "if alcohol could kill gluten we could drink beer!" Oh man...I sooo wish! Terri O
  2. THat is a very good question! I have not had to quit YET...I work in a kitchen as a relief cook. It is at a retirement complex and it is very difficult for me to cook like I used to. After all how do you "taste for seasoning" when it is a beef/barley soup? I almost did myself in the other day when I nearly took a taste of the sauce for my German potato...
  3. Yes--that is sad! But I guess kinda funny too...T
  4. I just came on to post a question and saw yours...I had to chuckle 'cause my problem is just the opposite! In fact my title was going to be "does the big D ever go away?" Terri O
  5. THis is too funny...just the other night I dreampt that I was at a party and had just taken a big bite of a Kentucky Fried Chicken thigh. I was like Tom Hanks in BIG when he ate that caviar! OMG too funny! Terri O
  6. All of these stories are so amazing! I too was called "the iron gut" in my teens, had leg cramps so bad as a child that were attributed to growing pains, never liked bread, depression, anxiety attacks etc etc! I have had several episodes that could have been the trigger for me. Life became pretty bad for me when we moved to the country. I had anxiety so...
  7. 73--take a walk 74--horseback riding is GOOD 75--if you are feeling well enough, clean the barn with LOUD music! 76--sit and talk to chickens. They always listen! 77--have a glass of Sherry! 78--do some crosstitch or scrapbooking 79--teach the parrot some new words 80--mix up some gluten-free flours and think about what you can make when you feel...

    ARCHIVED Dammit!

Tonight we went to PF Chang and they had a gluten-free menu! I still feel good AND I went out to eat....cant believe it! Terri O
  9. I agree totally with you! You must equate eating gluten with eating rat poison (that was in an article I read) would you do it? Nope!
  10. Thanks for the replies! I actually seem a little better today...not quite so dry. Maybe the 500 glasses of water helped me? LOL! T
  11. I liked it too...I will definitely send it to my family! Thanks!
  12. I have been gluten-free for 3 weeks or so and the other day I had the worst thirst ever! I usually drink a fair amount of water but now am finding myself drinking water ALL day long! This is fine with me, but I am just wondering if others have had this "cotton mouth" as a side effect of going gluten-free...and does it stop? Thanks! Terri O
  13. THanks--I was just concerned as the flax seeds and quinoa that I bought in bulk I was advised by the company not to use them because of possible CC. The rice is from a different place though. Dont any rice packagers also process wheat in their facilities? I just dont know how careful I need to be! T
  14. THe other day I purchased a bag of brown rice (generic) and ground it up in my vita-mix into flour. In anyone's opinion...am I poisoning myself eating this and using it for baking? DO you all call every manufacturer? I dont have too much $$ to buy the specialty flours and such so I thought I might grind my own? Do these companies really know if their...
  15. I would call the manufacturer and ask directly. I called the Bergin Nut Co and they were very interested that I was wondering about their bulk nuts and grains. Incidently, you cant have them...I am sad! :-(
  16. WhenDee--I so hope my husband will be like yours...I know that my teens will never understand; even though I feel they should go gluten-free too...My Mother and Father should really do it too. She says that this "must have come from your Father's side" If they would only try gluten-free all their problems might disappear too! I am having an episode right...
  17. Thanks for those great questions Stephappens! This is the exact way that I have been thinking too! It must be a Newbie thought process hey? The best part about it is that on here folks actually understand and can give us answers so that we can get better...even if we have taken a few steps back! The "going to the store" analogy was great wasnt it? Something...
  18. I understand not having even a sip... *sigh* I guess I need to start looking into alternate grains, and use my current brewing knowledge and come up with a good alternative. I've been especially missing my IPA, so I could come up with something that uses A LOT of hops. I wonder how brown rice does in beer, too. I can't think of anything to take the place...
  19. Hi! I too am only gluten-free for a short time and I wondered this too. Your symptoms sound exactly like what I get if I get a little bit of gluten! What I find odd is that it seems to affect me so much more now that I have been gluten free! This is a very frustrating time for us to be sure! Sometimes I dont want to eat ANYTHING at all for fear that...
