ARCHIVED Why Can't She Have It In Moderation?
hockeymomofceliacchild replied to JustForJen's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I agree with your earlier post you do need to have her go for the scope to make sure it is celiac. It is a lifelong diet and very strict and hard to follow. But it will be necessary. However I do have a friend who has celiac and still chooses to eat gluten. Why? I have no idea but then I choose not to smoke at all or be near anyone who does (I get massive... -

lol Don't be like me and leave the Emla patches at home! lol My six year old was just diagnosed last month and had both the blood work and scope. I agree it is a life long diet and we wanted 100% confirmation too (and needed that so we could get a doctors note so we could claim all his food Don't forget to save your food reciepts) My son was quite... -

hockeymomofceliacchild replied to Jenn624's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
it is so true our world does revolve around food and no you are NOT being too sensitive. Most people don't get it. I have just started my son on the gluten free diet and have to ask many questions. Sometimes I think my family must be sick to death of hearing me go on about what I've learned etc. The first year is the hardest according to my brother who also... -

Do you live in Canada too? Have the stores gotten in products for you such as chex and Betty Crocker cake mixes? that would be fabulous if they did. -
I'm glad for this post. My son who is 6 has always been very tall and equally VERY skinny. I have always said he looked malnurished and sickly now that he has been diagnosed with celiac and I have learned so much on this forum I understand why. I have been hoping his new diet will put some meat on his bones. His colour has improved he was always deathly pale...

hockeymomofceliacchild replied to hockeymomofceliacchild's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Thanks Brittany we were there on the weekend and had such a good time. We ate right at the hotel to have more time in the pool and just had plain steak and potatoe he loved it. We also hit Boston Pizza and he didn't even want the gluten free pizza he wanted moms special salad with grilled chicken. It is huge and he ate the whole thing practically! lol -

Thanks everyone It was a hard weekend for us at a hockey tournament with all his team. We felt like we were being anti-social all the time because we had to go eat at a different restaurant (steak and potatoes at the hotels restaurant downstairs) while the kids were in the pool and then having a pizza party after. It didn't seem to bother my son in... -

Just wanted to talk about something that happened this morning with my little guy. He's been gluten free for just over a month and quite happy and feeling a little "special" because of it. Maybe a little extra attention from mom and lots of new yummy foods. This morning I told him a package came in for him and he was really excited when I told him. But when... -
