  1. Wait so B12 is a vitamin you can overdose on...??
  2. It is also possible that what he experienced was a Open Original Shared Link, which is related to the onset of sleep (or wakefulness), when the body is awake but the brain has entered a dream-like state. I have these all the time, mostly when falling asleep--I'll see things, like bugs or lobsters on the ceiling or something, hear voices or actually TALK to...
  3. weird! I just used crest pro-health rinse this morning and now I'm having terrible reflux. ARGH. I thought it was the peppermint... could be gluten? Also, I use the pro-health toothpaste... just ordered some tom's online (can't get what I want over here) but I'll only have this for the week until it gets here. but at the same time, I had a bite of bread...
  4. I'm really trying to get my grandmother tested, as she's had IBS and fibromyalgia my entire life, along with chronic constipation and a whole host of other issues that could be gluten- and other intolerance-related. My doctor told me that only those who have digestive problems and celiac symptoms should get tested... but if insurance covers it and there...
  5. oh yeah I was, sorry. I can't have peppermint tea either or it'll give me reflux but I like the fennel ok. It has a licorice taste. Might take some getting used to, unless you like licorice.
  6. I don't know! I'm on week 3/4 and I still don't know what my symptoms are. I'm still having near-constant gas, headaches, and some other things, but, idk... I had a bite of bread yesterday on accident and I haven't really suffered anything unusual from it so far... and I've been so paranoid from CC, but I don't guess CC is hurting me yet? I too am wondering...
  7. Have you tried fennel tea, peppermint tea, or any other "natural" gas remedies? I just ask because the fennel tea I have is specifically marketed for IBS symptoms.
  8. idk, but try going a few days without the caffeine and see if it helps. I personally could never tolerate caffeine, but it made me light-headed and nauseated, not migraine-y.
  9. I don't yet know what my glutened symptoms are. Is it possible, however, that your headache could be caused by another ingredient in the broth, such as MSG? MSG is a huge migraine-trigger for many people.
  10. I don't know how common it is, but I myself am at around the 3 week mark and have had terrible gas for the past two weeks, and constipation with 2 bouts of D a while back (one of which may not be celiac related). Gas-X helps a little (gelcaps are gluten-free), as well as taking digestive enzymes with meals. I'm also drinking fennel tea atm to try to help...
  11. How long have you been gluten-free? That happened to me about after a week of gluten-free, where I was terribly gassy all day before and after eating no matter what. I'm wondering if it's not a detox symptom. I am somewhat constipated, but still have it on days I'm not. I just drink aloe juice, take enzymes with big meals, and take one or two Gas-X a day...
  12. I've only been to one wedding since my diagnosis--my cousin's--and I just brought my own food to the reception. I did have two glasses of wine there though, and a little punch. No cake of course. I'm not the only one in my family with food problems--my aunt has severe migraines when she has MSG or certain other foods, so she didn't eat anything at the...
  13. Definitely normal! I wasn't experiencing it as badly as you did, but after going gluten-free I started getting hungry many times a day and my stomach would actually GROWL. This was a huge step forward for me, since my primary symptoms were never feeling truly hungry, since my stomach emptied so slowly of undigested gluten, or being bloated/full alla time...
  14. When I went to a dietician, she told me that I pretty much knew everything she was going to tell me anyway, so there wasn't *too* much for us to talk about. That was because of this site. She did tell me to eat more protein, but my mama tells me that every day... But I went, and am going again once more, because it is practically free with my (dad's...
  15. You can do what you can to cut down the gluten... rice table, like someone said, and making gluten-free play-doh--it's totally possible! Also, I don't know if you're in charge of snacks or not, but having snacks gluten-free more often than not--idk, apples and cheese and stuff. Maybe looking into different kinds of paint as well? Obviously you're not going...
  16. I've had these my entire life, and even after going gluten-free I have them. Really it has more to do with when you wake up--do you wake up in the middle of REM, or immediately after?--and whether or not you think about your dreams upon waking that determines whether or not you'll remember them. Also, if you get "practice" remembering your dreams, you...
  17. "I have Celiac disease." Then again, I had a positive biopsy and blood test. still sinking in, to be honest... sometimes I say it over a couple times in my head before I believe it.
  18. how do you know they have gluten? what are some of the ingredients you often find? I can't seem to figure out what ingredients to look out for besides things that obviously say "wheat..." whatever...
  19. Continuing to heal... Been on spring break with my parents & fam and they all seem really good about my celiac... they don't understand how important it is to avoid CC (keep asking me questions about "well, how much is too much?" or, "surely that'll be ok"), but they're starting to learn. Mama read the handouts the doc gave me and knows what ingredients...
  20. My iron always came back normal, but "a little on the low side." And I've never had other bloodwork come back abnormal until the celiac blood panel, which was very positive.
  21. Just got back from my first appointment with a dietician! Thanks to you guys, she said I was doing really well with my diet, and that I seemed to know what I was doing and be on the right track. Since I went vegan (minus fish) for Lent she told me to be careful to get enough protein (60-70 grams a day i think) and good fats (such as in fish and olive oil...
  22. although pepto bismol tastes NASTY--so if you're like me and burp a lot when your stomach is uncomfortable, expect to taste it over and over and get nauseated.
  23. Need to vent some more so here goes: My body seems determined to get worse before it gets better. I've only been eating rice, fish, olive oil & sesame, kidney beans, and fruit juices w/ supplements for the past couple days. I even got digestive enzymes to try and help. The bloating and gas has gone down tremendously (thank God), and the reflux is...
  24. Yes. Your gut needs to heal and it can't so long as you're still putting poison in it, no matter what small amounts.
  25. strange! does it have any additives in it, like MSG or something? the trembling could be psychosomatic...? idk!
