  1. can... can you translate into normal english for me? I only understand about half of what they're talking about. It is fundamentally different from a regular vaccine tho, it seems, because with a regular vaccine you take it once (or with a few boosters) and that's all you need, but this is a weekly or monthly injection. Well, maybe it's like the tetanus...
  2. actually, it's due next week, if I recall correctly. Haven't gotten it yet. I will totally post about it when I do!! I think it was the antibiotics that I had to take for the sickness that hurt my gut flora and started my problems back up again. not sure. I am taking high-strength probiotics now, and like I said incorporating more GAPS foods but keeping...
  3. i also want to add that the autoimmune reaction of celiac is fundamentally different from the allergic reaction to peanuts. perhaps such a method would work for a histamine response to wheat. WILL NOT work for an immune system response. also, vaccines teach the immune system what antibodies to use to destroy a virus. The problem with celiac is that...
  4. I fell off the GAPS bandwagon due to lack of willpower about a month ago. HOWEVER, reflux, fatigue, and headaches are back, so I'm gonna go back to GAPS next week. At least somewhat. I figure that if I can't manage NO sugars and starches, a reduction is better than no change, and adding GAPS foods like meat stock, eggs, avocados, and non-starchy veg can...
  5. I would have left and gone home by the time they brought out the cake, were I you.
  6. For calories, try drinking 100% fruit/vegetable juice, or coconut milk, which had a good bit of fat in it. Also, peanut butter and nut butters. I just eat 'em with a spoon. Try steaming vegetables, or making mashed potatoes/mashed sweet potatoes--really easy, just cut up, boil, and mash with salt and a little olive oil (instead of butter). you can also...
  7. pure vanilla ice cream is fine--cream, sugar, eggs, vanilla. Read the ingredients. That is, of course, if you don't have a problem with lactose or casein.
  8. someone once told me that he would cut himself if he had celiac ("no offence, but...") then I told him that I used to cut myself all the time before diagnosis, but after diagnosis I never did. seriously, my ribs are covered in scars, as well as my upper arms. anyway, a really awkward silence followed. I hope he learned something.
  9. I'll be here till September... and tell me where all the good restaurants are, if you know 'em. I'm stuck in a rut and only ever go to Cornucopia. Out of the whole city, I only eat in one restaurant
  10. can you use coconut oil instead of butter? also you guys I can buy avocados here, haha, making guac is easy
  11. I feel your pain. I cannot tell you how many times I see spelt products grouped with the gluten-free stuff. And the other day I almost bought some bread off the gluten-free shelf because it looked so brown and soft... it was organic WHEAT bread. No idea why it was next to the FreeFrom brand stuff. get well soon ~~
  12. you guys are... gonna make me cry... I was sick for so long, I hated everything... but if it wasn't for celiac I wouldn't have y'all... *SUPER SAPPY MOMENT* I've been eating peanut butter and jam sandwiches, soup/stew, and stir-fries-over-rice for so long I don't even know what "normal people food" is. haha
  13. here in ireland, nutella has milk in it, and starburst has soya lecithin! argh! but I do buy and eat skittles here sometimes >_> omg so you guys are just gonna get me stuff?  all I can think of right now is that I love terra original exotic vegetable chips! you can pop the air out of the bags and roll them up to take...
  14. you are the nicest person~! I have to think about what I want now any suggestions for a soya, gluten, and dairy-free person?
  15. for something to legally be labelled "gluten free" here (and in the uk iirc), since jan 1, it has to have been tested to below 20 ppm of gluten. so sure, some stuff will not be safe for super sensitives, but at least you know where you stand if something says gluten-free on it. I've been putting acidophilus on my ulcers and they've been healing pretty...
  16. you ate a tomato that was one YEAR old? how was it not mouldy??
  17. it's fairly celiac friendly, there's just a lack of variety, imho. it's not as much friendly for those who suffer from extra allergies on top of gluten. also, it 's not friendly to celiacs-who-can't-chew apparently. haha. the porridge is usually stocked at my local grocery but they're out and I tried two different tescos and they're out too, idk what's...
  18. I don't have a blender... or want one, for that matter. I am feeling a bit better though. got some potato and leek soup for lunch today and have been snacking on popsicles. found some rice/millet/buckwheat porridge at a health food store. had to walk a bit far to get there but, hey, i have my porridge now... keep in mind when you recommend I get things...
  19. been gluten free one year. cried in the grocery store today for the first time. it was the second store that didn't have what i came for, gluten-free rice porridge (had a "temporarily out of stock" sign) even thought there was a whole isle of gluteny porridge that they never run out of I'm sick with six days of fever and infection, my mouth is full of...
  20. oh, just a note to say I'm back eating sugar and fruits again, and noticing no differences. this is obviously not my problem. my problem is I think, low stomach acid and bad balance of bacteria, because my reflux was greatly reduced when I started supplementing HCl and probiotics
  21. they're made from cotton.
  22. you have bronchitis. your body needs nutrition to fight your infection. try to include fruit and veg too for vitamins, but let yourself eat and get better...
  23. it was about 6 to 9 months into gluten free that I totally lost my appetite for food, and only eat when I'm hungry... if I eat at all... I have always been the opposite of an emotional eater, tho. my whole life if i was very depressed, lonely, scared, or even excited, hyper, etc, I couldn't eat anything. my emotions always interfered with my appetite....
  24. haha, my fever went to 102.5 this morning. doctor said I need one week of bed rest. I have one more question. the doc gave me antibiotics. usually when they give them to me, I don't take them, since they're over-prescribed, but in this case it is to prevent pneumonia, which I've had 3-5 times as a youngster (I forget) and DO NOT want again. So I'm taking...
  25. thanks for all your well-wishes. boyfriend brought me some tylenol and vitamin C, and I have a chicken boiling right now so I can have some chicken stock to drink (maybe I'll put rice noodles in). I had to call in to work this morning and I HATE that... hopefully the tylenol will allow me to go to work tomorrow (I only have to work for 4 hours) and then I...
