  1. I had a few more questions for you guys. I took one of my tablets this morning with breakfast & vitamins. I experienced zero reflux, burning, or discomfort until approximately two hours later at work, when a mild heartburn started. However, this often happens with or without the tablet. If you are taking too much HCl, how quickly do you know? When...
  2. wait, size SIXTEEN? W. T. F. That's not even an *unhealthy* weight. well, I guess it could be if you were like 4 ft tall? I don't even know? don't even get me started on fat/skinny comments. I'm sure I've done my fair share of that crap in the past but I hopefully know better by now. I used to think that if I was over suchandsuch size, then I would become...
  3. I was talking about coeliac the other day with some strangers in my tour group... dunno how it came up, but it was probably me because I was having really, really bad acid reflux at the time and it's all I could think about. I know you guys hear people say, like, "I could NEVER give up bread" or "I would KILL MYSELF if I was celiac" but it went down like...
  4. I hate going to the store and finding delicious-looking gluten-free things that either contain soya, contain dairy, or are CC'd with soya/dairy.
  5. bring snacks in your bag or your car. fast food is not to be trusted. not to mention what they sell can hardly be called "food" at times...
  6. I'll try this next week. right now the burning in my chest is constant and very terrible, so I wouldn't be able to tell if it helped or not because it's hard to tell the difference between bad pain, really bad pain and really really bad pain, know what I mean? I feel like I'm just not digesting anything, like my stomach is always full. I don't feel hungry...
  7. no I know it won't stop smells, but surely it would stop particles of flour from the bakeries in the grocery stores, right? and cut down on my exposure to second-hand smoke.
  8. looking into food chemical sensitivities--salicylates especially--might not be a bad idea.
  9. I wonder if this might be the cause of my 24/7 heartburn and belching. Today I bought a digestive enzyme that contains 600mg betaine hcl (my previous ones only had 100mg), and 90 mg ox bile, along with amylase, bromelain, cellulase, lipase, pancreatin, papain, protease, and pepsin. next week I am going to eat rice only (or maybe rice & buckwheat only...
  10. I don't remember, but the point is irrelevant now because that was over month ago and I haven't had any since.
  11. never reaching a point where you feel good enough to start testing any foods, or know what your "glutened" symptoms are
  12. I checked the ice cream for soy ingredients, but as it had dairy that gave me symptoms, I don't see how that's an issue since I don't eat dairy anymore. also, my diet is 100% MSG free right now just because of happenstance. I think the only msg I ever really got was at gluten-free restaurants or possibly in broths or something. I should change my signature...
  13. heya. I don't know if I am super-sensitive nor not. I am gluten-free 9 months and am deteriorating rather than improving, however. I am currently researching co-morbidities, low stomach acid/lazy pancreas, and fat malabsorption. however, i've gotten to the point where I am hella paranoid. I started wearing a surgical mask on my walk to work in order...
  14. I'm not sure what you mean about soya? I don't eat it in any form, whether oil or lecithin or flour or TVP or whatever, and I don't eat anything that was made on shared lines or equipment or "may contain traces of" soya. also, getting the hernia fixed is not an option until at least september 2012, barring emergency. besides, that is a MAJOR surgery that...
  15. judging from my symptoms i think i may be malabsorbing fats, or just food in general. that's what a frothy, floaty, yellowy, terrible-smelling D is supposed to mean, right? which means my meat/nuts diet may be compounding the problem. in all my elimination diets I've never gone low-fat... because I know how good fats are for us. unless, of course, they...
  16. so, I stopped taking the otc pantoprazole because when it was on it i was so bloated and I never felt hungry. now i feel hungry and even tho i might just be reflux-induced "hunger" at least i'm actually eating food again and not just letting breakfast sit in my stomach all day. started the enzymes again. I'm really thinking my problem is too little acid...
  17. when I did the lentils, b-sprouts, potatoes, eggs & nuts diet, it was foods I hadn't been eating before. maybe I will try sunflower seeds (been eating cashews really regularly, so guess they hafta go), buckwheat, and 3 other things. idkidk. avocados or smth. maybe ham or lamb. I can get ham hocks and fresh pork hearts across the street and make some...
  18. I tried a 5 food elimination diet for about two weeks, or at least a week and a half, but I didn't improve. I was eating mince beef, white rice, green peas, and sweet potatoes I think. then I switched to red lentils, brussels sprouts, cashews, white potatoes, and eggs. that didn't work either. I wash my hands constantly and dont know where trace gluten...
  19. I considered eggs being a factor, but I haven't had eggs in two days I think, and that didn't fix it. also, I read somewhere that boiling eggs is ok, so I am going to boil eggs from now on. whatever causes my reflux doesn't do it like normal reflux where it's immediate or like 2 hours later. it's just meals in general seem to cause it. also, fyi...
  20. okay (posting this so that you can yell at me if I make mistake ) today I had boiled beef, rooibos tea, 175 g cashews (I am getting desperate for calories), some bacon, and one rice cake. supplements were 1.5 T of aloe vera juice and a tea made from slippery elm. my gas is not constant, but I will get burpy and bloated after meals. reflux...
  21. my stomach feels like a black hole when it is empty.
  22. skylark, thanks for everything. you keep showing up in my threads. it means a lot to me. I have a liquid b12/b complex with sorbitol in it. maybe I will take it every other day. and I forgot about vitamin C... don't want scurvy... I do have a multi I used to take when I wasn't having such bad problems. it has corn in it, but not much other offending ingredients...
  23. next time I make bacon, maybe I won't pat it dry? but I was eating things fried in olive oil a lot and it didn't make things magically better or anything. a few weeks ago I was eating exclusively things stir-fried in olive oil, then moved to sunflower oil, then moved to boiling things in saltwater since the reflux wasn't improving. and I did have peppermint...
  24. hello. I am gluten free over 9 months now. My acid reflux went almost completely away and then it came back. it is now at levels just as bad as pre-gluten free and sometimes worse. I do not know how to treat it. I only have insurance that is catastrophic (emergency room and hospitalisation only) so I cannot afford doctor's visits or any medical testing. ...
