  1. I just bought a whole bunch of 100g packs of raw cashews to put into my purse. those will be my safe snacks for a little while. today I had rice cakes, fennel tea, bacon, cashews, and some more peanut butter w/ dextrose. Tomorrow I'm going to get some sunflower seed butter and some more eggs. I have steak and bacon in my fridge right now (and not much...
  2. Skylark, I just wanna tell you that you're amazingly helpful and I really appreciate it. I have another question about FM. How long does it take, usually, for a reaction to set in? Yesterday I had a dilemma, because I didn't have enough time between church and work to get something to eat. So I grabbed an old larabar from my purse and ate it because...
  3. I didn't think I was, but I can't explain yesterday. felt really horrible by end of day, after a streak of good days. that doesn't mean today'll be different. we'll see. meat and nuts fer me.
  4. headache right now = thru the roof muscle aches -- a little bit ...nightshades?????????? can potato maltodextrin cause nightshade reactions? because I was getting only potato-maltodextrin products to replace corn-maltodextrin products 'cause people told me to avoid corn. I hate this so much. Trying to figure stuff out. I'm seriously gonna just...
  5. oh, I was eating the squash because someone told me squash seeds are good for stomach nasties, so I bought a squash for the seeds in it. This was before I wanted to test fructose. And I mean, if I bought a squash for the seeds I'm not going to throw the rest away, you know? *sigh* leafy greens. go bad so quickly. and they are harder to wash in case of...
  6. daaaaang. I had a really good day yesterday with, like, no reflux. I was eating... boiled egg, fennel/licorice tea, sunflower seeds, half a butternut squash, two salmon filets in olive oil, and a whole bunch of ginger candies (which have cane sugar and glucose syrup and ginger. and that's all the ingredients in.) I stopped all supplements and started taking...
  7. what about fennel? I am using fennel tea atm to combat gassiness. and sorbitol? I have a reflux medicine that I take, frutin, that is supposed to be natural acid barrier rather than an antacid, but it has sorbitol in it. I think I am going to literally do meat & potatoes for the next week and see if that gets it. With a squash or two because someone...
  8. I haven't had the brussels sprouts in about a week or more, so that isn't it. (I have some in my freezer, ergo they're on my intended diet, but I haven't been eating 'em recently. and I was eating boiled eggs prior to my gas troubles, so, idk. but I just ran out of eggs so I'm going to eat different breakfasts for a while (chicken... bacon maybe. I dunno...
  9. Struggling recently with terrible gas, bloating, and acid reflux. I burp first thing when I get up in the morning. I burp for hours at a time and sometimes have to get up and go to the toilet while at work so I can burp for 15 minutes and be reasonably comfortable again to work. I burp all night. I have acid reflux randomly and constantly. My BMs are regular...
  10. I'm still ugh. Lots of bloating & gas which started up only in the last 2 weeks, just as bad as when I first went gluten free. I am on glutamine & probiotics and am trying squash seeds which someone told me can kill nasties. My reflux goes up and down in the weirdest ways. sometimes I'm so sure I will have it and don't, and sometimes am so sure I...
  11. I didn't want to turn it into a topic on religion either, but this is something I am struggling with right now in my life, so I asked. I think you're right, it's just... hard, that's all.
  12. I'm not sure that I'm sensitive to corn. I may not be. Never had this diagnosed and when I first cut it out I noticed no difference from that. EDIT I also want to add that I live in Europe, so all this stuff about the USDA is meaningless to me.
  13. I second the taking a walk thing. The only times when I ever think to myself, "huh, I'm not really that tired right now" is when I'm out walking somewhere. When you're done with your short walk, use the momentum and energy from it to get some things done. If you sit down to rest after the walk, you won't get up again. I know I won't. But if you absolutely...
  14. I don't want to eat gluten to find out TT_TT
  15. To be honest, this kind of thing shakes my faith considerably. How do you feel about this? You seem to be taking it a lot better than I would.
  16. Well, I came over to Ireland and went stricter on my diet, since I live alone in my flat that never sees any gluten, eat only whole foods or the occasional gluten-free packaged item... and then eventually I went on a few week-long elimination diets to try and root out lingering symptoms. But my symptoms kept getting worse. I too notice crumbs everywhere...
  17. naw, what I said was, lactose - gastro, casein - gastro and/or neuro. I've just never heard of neuro symptoms coming from lactose is all.
  18. Where'd you move to? I found my symptoms relapsing after I moved from Colorado to Ireland.
  19. Are there any other coeliacs in the nearby parishes you speak of? How do they handle it? I know that it is a special grace to receive on a daily basis, but if you really want to diagnose coeliac, you can't or that daily dosage of gluten will skew the results. I'm Eastern Orthodox and weep to say I haven't taken communion in four weeks or more (we only...
  20. I don't know WHAT I am sensitive to... but I can't cut everything out, can I? Gonna do the peels/rinds thing soon, I think. I seem to always have reflux after breakfast but not always after supper. Funny thing is I don't always eat the same thing for breakfast--could be potatoes, could be eggs, could be nothing but rooibos tea. I'm gonna stop talking...
  21. test yourself with lactose-free dairy items to see. If the symptoms are entirely gastro, it could very well be lactose, but casein is a possibility too. if you have any neuro symptoms at all, casein is more likely.
  22. being gluten-free certainly made me more healthy (at first). I was eating a lot more natural ingredients, a lot more protein, more veg (although I need to work on eating even more veg). Often it forces me to buy organic because they have less objectionable additives (like organic tuna, the only canned tuna at kroger with no soya in it!) At the moment...
  23. wow... this is intense. I'm so sorry you guys have to go thru this. I really, really hope that I'm not so sensitive that I can't eat chicken! Surely gluten can't end up in the muscles of the bird?? What if I get a whole chicken and wash it really well, or cuts of chicken that are very easy to wash? I don't think the meat I get is packaged at the store...
  24. I don't kiss anyone ever (I'm in an asexual phase at the moment) and I'm really bad about touching my face; I need to break that habit so I don't stroke my lips or something like that with gluten on my fingers. The nonverbal learning disorder was diagnosed via IQ test. The main marker is a huge discrepancy between verbal skills and nonverbal skills--with...
  25. cool new word I just learned--thanks. I don't think that's my problem though. I have a nonverbal learning disorder and that is one of the symptoms--had it since I was a child, along with difficulty in voice volume modulation and the perception/reading of body language and other visual-spatial/nonverbal skills that I'm slower with than normal people....
