Gluten In Cigarettes
NateJ replied to SarahSway's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
wow you sound just like me. I smoke Marlboros for a long time and was over a pack a day and feeling like garbage. I switched to these in Jan and will usually smoke half at a time, then put it out and leave it for later. Which is kind of nasty smelling at first, but I can't bring myself to smoke a whole one. They burn much slower than the other and my store... -
Gluten In Cigarettes

that seems like a weird answer. not really a yes or no. I smoke American Spirits, I don't think they are any worse or better than regular brands. -
ARCHIVED Dr. Oz: Enemy Of Gluten Free Efforts
NateJ replied to jessicaljensen's topic in Publications & Publicity
This guy is tool and not a real Dr. He is just some TV Dr. that uses trends to make himself popular. He probably does not even see real patients at all and has probably never been published in anything except People or Oprah's magazine. I put him in the same bunch of "Dr.s" they show on late night infomericals selling enlargement pills or bogus weight... -
No, i don't have any lesions. I think i would freak out if I did. I have always had those bumps on the back of my upper arms. I read somewhere that is a symptom of Celiac. Can't remember where or what they call them. I'm going to check my pills when I get home. I left two of them on there, but someone here confirmed my main one is gluten free for me yesterday...

ARCHIVED Distended Abdomen...celiac?
NateJ replied to mezzo9673's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I agree. I went gluten free before my biopsy and haven't not felt any better at all. Some days are worse than others probably depending on what i eat. But so far I haven't been able to find what my trigger is. My scopes did show the inside of my stomach is completely red. But my glorious GI doesn't seem to think that is abnormal and has yet to call me with... -
ARCHIVED New To Celiac Disease, Not Improving
NateJ replied to element192's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I think enzymes and probiotics are both bacteria. That seems like a lot of bacteria to be putting in you. But I guess if its good bacteria it doesn't matter. Maybe try a little bit at first and see what happens? -
I do used iodized salt, but no more than 2-3 times a week. Its not an everyday thing for me and depends on what I'm cooking. Usually I just put a dash in water if I'm boiling it for rice or something. I will switch that too. I checked out your list and all three of the brand names are on there that I take, but the generics are not. I guess I'll have to...

ARCHIVED Things To Help Digestion?
NateJ replied to healinginprogress's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I've tried Phenegran, Reglan, Zofran, Amitriptyline, and about 10 others. None work. I guess the probiotics are my next step. I need something to settle down the raging hurricane that is my stomach. -
ARCHIVED A Few Things I Have Learned While Dining Out
NateJ replied to Rowena's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Yes you are for sure not the only one. I get near panic attack at just the thought of eating out. Luckily my new job I can bring my lunch every day and eat it here. I think i've just been poinsoned to many times from all the traveling I did. Some people i worked with could eat anything. Off the back of those cards or trucks in NYC, any airport restaraunt... -

ARCHIVED New To Celiac Disease, Not Improving
NateJ replied to element192's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
It probably depends on the person. I know coffee tears me up now. I used to be able to drink 2-3 cups a day, but not anymore. Since i had my gall bladder removed I can barely touch a half cup of decaff without running directly to the bathroom. Just depends on the person. A lot of people here have told me that if your symptoms don't improve then try eliminating... -
well the kitchen is pretty much gluten free now. We went through it last night. Since I do most of the cooking anyway I dont' have to worry about anyone else contaminating it. The only stuff is prepackaged snacks and bread for my kids lunches that they pack themselves. I am worried about the pills though. I called my pharmacy and they actually hung up on...

I've eliminated milk, corn, eggs, and gluten so far. no major changes to my symptoms yet. I am eating whole foods and keeping a journal. I haven't been able to figure out anyone one thing that sets me off as I haven't had a 'good day' yet. Coffee for sure is a major problem for me. at least the work coffee is, so i quit that all together. I haven't checked...

Well so far I've been on the diet since Mar 6. and have seen little if any improvement. I have been super strict about it too. I've only eaten out once and warned the waitress, she was very cordial about it too. I'm so frustrated and annoyed. The Dr. put me back on Questran as its the only thing that keeps m 'D' in check enough for me to work. The...

well, my biopsies from my colonoscopy and endoscopy came back 'normal' The nurse said they removed 1 polyp that was benign. But other than that she didn't see anything on there abnormal. so I guess i don't have Celiac or anything else. just a make believe sore stomach and a fairyland diareha. I guess I just have to go through the rest of my life...

ARCHIVED Things To Help Digestion?
NateJ replied to healinginprogress's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
thats a wonderful question. I was wondering the same thing. Something to soothe or relax things. Sometimes I eat and its like i can feel it move all the way through me. Or i get nauseated right away. I asked my GI and he gave me something called Nuerontin. Its prescribed to people with seizures and supposed to deaden the nerves in your gut. I guess sort... -

ARCHIVED Betty Crocker Brownie Mix
NateJ replied to NateJ's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
yeah sometimes you can find a 2nd hand distributor or store that will order it just for you. There is a bakery here in STL called Andrea's gluten-free and they will ship your order to a grocer or market and you can pick it up. Maybe someone on the site could put together a package for you if that doesn't work. There seems to be a lot of helpful nice people... -
yes, thanks everyone for the advice. I to have the paleness. Even if I stay outside all summer I don't burn or tan. Sunken eye sockets, dark circles. My veins always bulge out, probably because of my weight. Not to mention a slew of other symptoms i have that would probably fill this forum for a month. I went to a gluten free seminar yesterday and met a...

yeah. i'm still waiting on my biopsies to come back. I just had them done last Thurs. So hopefully I'll get some sort of answer even if its not Celiac.

ARCHIVED Betty Crocker Brownie Mix
NateJ replied to NateJ's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I think they are fairly new. And its only at one local grocery that I've seen. Maybe they will come to Canada soon! The pebbles were definitley marked. I saw someone post on here about them and immediatley drove to the store. And inside was a free fruity pebbles snack bar, that was also labeled gluten free! I was so excited like a little kid getting a... -
