  1. My primary mentioned it, but hasn't done it yet. She scheduled these tests, then had me set a follow up for 6 weeks. Then her nurse called and said that I should see a cardiologist (sp?) so I'm waiting for someone to call about that.
  2. maybe. i don't eat that much processed food. so I'm not sure. Live and learn.
  3. I don't take any supplements or 'herbs', I've always had freakishly high metabolism. Actually was in a clinical study years ago for it. Certain painkillers and anesthetics don't work on me because my metabolism runs them out. Like whatever they use at the dentist and anything local. I'm 35, and yes it runs in my family. My Dr. insisted on all the tests before...
  4. yeah, I'm not looking forward to this either. I'm thinking of taking my kids to NYC just for a few days to see the parade and avoid gluten. I'm not sure how else to deal with it. I'm not going to sit and watch my family cram themselves full of poison while I eat fruit. no thanks.
  5. Mine has been high since I went off gluten in April. I've had full blood work up, an EKG, and a echo stress test, all came back normal. I'm currently wearing a heart monitor, get that off today. High BP and some minor chest pain. The chest pain has been better the past two days but my BP has not gone below 130/90 for over 2 months now. I feel ok, no stomach...
  6. Anyone have issues with BP being high after going gluten-free?
  7. Be nice to meet someone from St. Louis. Explore gluten-free options, etc.
  8. 3 hours away in STL. But your the closest person I've seen post on this forum.
  9. Definitely. I have these a lot. I remember thinking in my dream,'what am I doing' but can't stop eating whatever it is. Then you wake up and feel relieved. More of a nightmare really.
  10. yep. I saw the same thing. But three separate times getting sick. No thanks. There is something in there my gut doesn't like. I'm fairly certain its not the milk, i eat cheese, milk, with no issues.
  11. Been gluten-free for about 6 months now after diagnosis. I can count on one hand the # of episodes I've had since then. I usually just chalk it up to cross contamination. I bought some of the Frito Lay ranch dip in a jar at the grocery store last week, after reading the label, the allergen info said: MILK. so after eating it twice now and getting bad stomach...
  12. Yep AB makes Red Bridge. Its actually really good. Gluten Free made from sorghum. I live in STL (home of AB) and can get it and almost in grocery store. There is another called New Grist that is really good also, but harder to find for me. Its only in a handfull of upscale eating places that I know of around me. Also, Mike's Hard Lemonade is claiming...
  13. I'm not sure if my increasing baldness is from Celiac or not, but I have 4 brothers, 2 by the same Mom and none of them are balding. 2 older, 2 younger. I can say that I barley have any eyebrows left and did read somewhere that is a symptom. Can't remember where. I'm naturally dark complected with dark hair, so the eyebrow thing looks strange, its like...

    ARCHIVED I'm Back

Yeah, that was the hardest part of all of it. I really miss her. Everyday. But I still have my kids. They are both going through counseling and support from family has been good. It stinks that all my family lives out of town, but they have done a lot for us during these past few months. Looking forward to moving forward. Thinking about going to...

    ARCHIVED I'm Back

i try to be nice. Here is a vent for you LOL I traveled for my job for 4.5 years so I could make extra cash. Told my wife she didnt' need to work. Just stay home with the kids. So I got sick in Dec last year, got off the road when I had surgery. Got sicker, switch jobs to not travel and be home then she leaves! There is a lot more to that story...
  16. Had mine out in Dec '10. It was a battle for a month to get somewhat normal again. I've heard people say it takes months or years to feel right. I wish I could say something more positive. But I've suffered from pains, 'D', nausea, etc... but it has gotten progressively better each day slowly. and gluten-free and dairy free will certainly help. I had...
  17. I can completely sympathize with you. I fight this almost daily. What keeps me going? Basic desire to live I guess. After being diagnosed in March and the rest of the crap I've been through this year I can say I will be stronger now. I also offer my help. If you ever need to talk or live close, Message me or anything. Anytime.

    ARCHIVED I'm Back

Actually no. My wife left on Memorial Day and my divorce was final last week. I've been busy with the kids since then and haven't had time to post or read here. But I have managed to stay gluten-free despite everything else going on. I feel pretty good now, better than I did. Its still a challenge some days. I've lost quite a few friends but I'm ok with...

    ARCHIVED I'm Back

After a long break, I'm back. gluten-free since April now and feeling better.
  20. I would start with the diet coke. Really any soda or carbonated beverage. I get the migranes too. And can always trace it back to days I had soda. I stopped drinking Coke after a friend came over and used it on my car's battery terminals. He poured it over the corrosion and it ate it away in a matter of seconds. All i could think was, that stuff does that...
  21. Thought this might help some people who are looking for places to eat out. I went to Tampa for work last week and had to eat out 2 times a day for 5 days in a row. I prepared a list of restaurants that have gluten-free menus or items. I also found two bakeries on the gluten-free registry. So i went to Bonefish Grill Twice. they have a nice gluten-free...
  22. i lurk all the time.
  23. Yeah. i haven't had to travel for work in quite some time and I was never so glad to leave my house yesterday. Even the anxiety of going out of town with no safety net didn't bother me as much as what they did to me on Sat. I'm still angry about it. I did go out to eat tonight for the first time in 4 months. (since diagnoses). Went to a placed called...
  24. my wife actually mocked me last night. I was complaining about all the gluten in the house and how there are crumbs all over the kitchen. She went and got a hostess fruit pie out and starting eating it and said 'mmmmmm gluten'. I said thanks thats real nice, and she said 'what, you expect me to go gluten-free too? I'm not the one who is sick all the time...
  25. it gives me shivers seeing all those people out there working and volunteering their own time for this cause. I wish I could help out on something like this.
