  1. Brace yourself, my answer got away from me! Interesting question. I feel more muscle fatigue/aches when running than on recovery days. I never used to need multiple recovery days and now I HAVE to have them. On those days, my muscles aren't sore, but fatigue is definitely present. I try to take off Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday (so I run and lift...
  2. Hi NoodleUnit, Week 3 is off to a good start. I had to slow down on the second 3-minute interval, but that worked and I finished strong. It felt good. After I had a great weight workout, so I feel like my workouts are really getting back on track. I actually have to do Day 2 tomorrow as I have to travel on Wednesday, so I'll see how it goes without...
  3. Hi NoodleUnit, I'm hope your food troubles are getting better; it gets tricky when you start to deal with the ingredients of ingredients, doesn't it?? I just messed myself up with Indian papad (one of the spices in it is generally mixed with wheat, but no mention of that on the label). So I hope that it was the olives for you as that way you have...
  4. NoodleUnit, Sorry, it took me a bit to respond. I took a 'digital sabbatical' for a few days (since I'm off work for the summer). How's Week 2 treating you? Hope all is going well and your symptoms are subsiding even more. I'm intrigued by the interval timing of runkeeper, but I don't have a smartphone. So I may investigate upgrading my heart...
  5. Hi NoodleUnit, Sorry I didn't reply sooner, I had no internet while travelling! It kind of puts me in a panic when I don't have tech (and then I start to think how unhealthy that is....). I'm so happy that Week 1 is going well for you! I totally can relate to the grinning ear to ear because I'm doing the same thing. I must look like a loon...
  6. I did see that about Djokovich and it's quite amazing. I'm hoping the same happens to me. I do have to say that the running I've been able to do is already faster than my best effort before (I was verrrry slow) and it's less effort (even starting back). So I do think there's a lot to be said for Gluten-free enhancing workouts (after a fashion). ...
  7. I've had a similar reaction to sugar (but not with other carbs), so I know what you mean. Google "Simply Sugar and Gluten Free" and you'll find a very helpful blog with recipes, etc. I just discovered it the other day.
  8. That's great news, NoodleUnit! I'm so happy for you. Maybe we can work our way through the c25k together?? How's the Tai Chi coming along? I ended up having to take 10 days off from running. I was starting to really search my diet to try and figure out what had brought back my fatigue, foggy head, apathy, etc., plus heat intolerance. Turns out...
  9. I hope the Tai Chi class becomes more what you're hoping for, NoodleUnit. I've always been intrigued by the idea of it, but haven't gotten to try it. I think the mental concentration aspect of it would be good for quieting stress. Hope your muscles loosen up soon (but, hey, they must have gotten some kind of workout). I'm in Week 2 of the c25k. I...
  10. Love this idea as it's something my work colleagues and I do via email about events at work. Here's my attempt: Whole foods every day, No more joint or muscle pain, I am happier.
  11. JessicaNYC, this is a fabulous idea. I've actually been thinking a lot about gratitude and joy recently (it's like a reawakening). So here's my list. I'm thankful (and increasingly joyful) that... ...I no longer want to go back to bed as soon as I get up in the morning. ...I catch myself singing to the radio now. ...I'm eating a much more...
  12. Thanks for the heads up. I'll look for them here.
  13. Hmmmm, this could be a long list for me, but I'll list breakfast foods as that was the hardest meal for me when I went Gluten-free (and corn-free). So I'd say buckwheat, cinnamon rice chex, teff pancakes, and Rudi's cinnamon raisin bread, any of which can be accompanied by almond milk. But my biggest discovery is green smoothies. I love them and they...
  14. Wow, that's really cool. Congratulations on the certification! And how amazing to feel soooo much better in such a short time.
  15. I did an elimination diet (which was gluten-free as well) for four weeks before my blood tests were drawn and my tTG was still off the charts. I have no idea how high it must have been.... Needless to say, the biopsy (done a week later) was positive as well. Good luck!
  16. I totally agree. I feel like shopping for food and cooking is my new part-time job. Spontaneity with food has seemed to disappear as I don't eat anything on impulse anymore (and quick take-out is a thing of the past). I'm hoping this will change as I figure out a routine....
  17. Congratulations on being able to go back to work! And I hope that you enjoyed the walk and didn't suffer any ill effects the next day. Little by little.... I'm taking more rest days, so today I was "off" from exercise, but tomorrow I hope to be back at the gym.
  18. I had those symptoms when I was both hypo and hyper the longer the problem went on, so it became tricky towards the end to tell what was going on. The heat intolerance was my best hint (as I was colder when hypo and warm when hyper). But I think when you have both conditions going on at the same time (Graves and Hashi's), it becomes much harder to determine...

    ARCHIVED Tipping

That's a great idea. Thanks for suggesting it.
  20. Hi NoodleUnit, Just thought I'd let you know that the first day of the C25K program went really well today. I even did a few weights and a lot of stretching afterwards. I stopped before I got too tired and feel great now (about 3 hours later). It was soooooo good to work out and ENJOY it. So, thank you very much for giving me the link to the...

    ARCHIVED Tipping

I haven't eaten out many times yet as I'm still in the early stages of Gluten-free (and feel more comfortable at home). But, when I've eaten out, the wait staff have been extremely careful (I tell them I have Celiac and briefly explain) and I have tipped VERY generously. It'd be nice if it pays off for the next person (kind of a random act of kindness...
  22. Hi, I don't mean to butt in on your conversation, but I was diagnosed with Graves in 2000. I had the following symptoms that I recall: insomnia, crushing fatigue (with insane bursts of energy), heat intolerance, dry and itchy skin, headaches, nausea, increased hunger, loose stools, shaky hands, etc. I was miserable, in short. This was long before...
  23. Hi NoodleUnit, I'm going to start the c25K on Monday. I decided to listen to my body and go softly (thank you for that advice!) and wait another week (while I cut out high-lactose products and upped my protein intake). My energy level has improved (yea!) and my GI problems have resolved (logging my food has been very helpful here). So I actually feel...
  24. Sadly, no Trader Joe's nearby. But I think I can find a replacement protein powder if I have to (so far, I have had no problem with the whey). I'll keep hemp in mind.
  25. Thank you so much! This has helped me out a lot.
