  1. The gluten free on a shoestring blog just posted a gluten-free ritz knock off today. She read my mind!
  2. This all started when I read and noticed that Wendy's doesn't count any items with soybean oil on their list of foods with soy. I thought it was an error at first. Then Pollo Tropical, which caters to special dietary needs, included on their allergen free food list that soybean oil is not counted because foodallergy.org indicates that most people allergic...
  3. Right, but I believe I've read that the protein in an item tends to be the more reactive part. I have some allergies and some intolerances, but soy is an intolerance.
  4. For those of you that are soy intolerant, do you react to soybean oil? I figured I should exclude it,but now I'm reading that it's not considered an allergen. I assume it's akin to ghee being ok for dairy intolerant folks since it is pure fat with none of the allergy-triggering proteins. Do you find soybean oil to be a trigger?
  5. Are they more biscuit-like being a quick bread instead of a standard yeast bun?
  6. Brilliant! I have a bunch of those
  7. It's easy to sub eggs in most dishes that are not primarily made of egg. Go buy some flax meal and egg replacer and you'll be all set. From what I understand, after you eliminate eggs for a few months along with gluten, your gut may heal to the point you can then try adding them back in.
  8. Our children had immediate IgG reactions to casein and gluten and we didn't do anything but breastmilk until 6 - 7 months old. We had them tested due to ongoing rash issues that showed up as soon as we introduced offending foods. It was not instant, so we couldn't tell exactly which foods. Everything I've read says to wait until at least 2 yrs old for...
  9. RiceGuy, do you cook in the pyrex or just shape with it?
  10. I'd like to make gluten-free hamburger buns and dinner rolls soon. I have a great bread recipe, so I figure converting or finding a new one shouldn't be a big deal. Feel free to offer one up that you love. However, is there an easy way to shape buns and rolls? With the batter-like consistency, I'm thinking that roll making could be quite difficult without...
  11. Anyone know any crackers that are Saltine or Ritz like and that are soy free too? We have Glutino but they have soy lecithin.
  12. I made my own bread a couple of days ago and it was truly amazing. No one, gluten-free or not, could tell it was gluten-free bread. The ingredient list seems long, but other than assembling the ingredients, it was super easy to make. You should definitely try it out. Open Original Shared Link
  13. From what I've read here, you should try to make sure your personal care products are free of your sensitive foods, especially if you don't have full relief of symptoms.
  14. Did you go completely sugar free or just limit?
  15. No food cravings really except sweet drinks (like sweet tea).
  16. I thought at first I just had a stuffy nose or was coming down with something, but I rarely get colds. Now that I think about it, these symptoms began right when I started fully eliminating soy and egg two days ago. We had very little in our diet anyway, but I'm checking all labels now. I have: - a stuffy nose with occasional mucous - feelings of hot...
  17. Dairy, soy, and egg now are what showed up in the test. I'm more concerned about what to do if I don't feel better after removing all four.
  18. Are there any major restaurants you know of where you can eat if you are gluten, casein, soy, and egg free? I am finding that the combo, especially with soy, seems to eliminate just about everywhere. I am fine with bringing my own special condiments or bread or whatever, just need some type of food provided on occasion. I love to cook, but sometimes the...
  19. I've been Gluten-free Casein-free for two months and am now going to try soy and egg removal based on slight IgA positives there. I don't feel much better in the way of fatigue. What type of timeframe is typical for feeling better when your symptoms are not GI? If I don't feel better, how do I know if those foods are even culprits? I'm not able to do...
  20. To add - I did not ask about allergy testing at all, nor do I expect a company to typically do that. I simply asked if they included ingredients with gluten, dairy, soy, or egg.
  21. I emailed Alba Botanica (owned by Hain Celestial), just to be sure of low risk regarding any allergens in their sunscreens. I don't see any obvious dangers in the ingredients and it is labeled hypoallergenic, whatever that means. Here is their response: "Our plant-based formulations come from a variety of sources and combinations of derivatives and are...
  22. I've had these pains for years. They started in my belly and now can be anywhere from my ears to my hips. It feels like someone is starting to step on me and they get heavier and heavier.
  23. Have you considered smoothies with pea protein and/or hemp protein?
  24. Yes, most people use the self-cleaning cycle as part of the seasoning process for cast iron.
