  1. Have you looked into Peaceful Pastures as far as meat supply? They are a grassfed organic practice farm (although not certified, so prices are great). Our co-op group has been ordering from Jenny (the farmer's wife) for years. She has two masters degrees and used to be a food inspector of some sort, so she's very, very knowledgeable. It's not like talking...
  2. Has anyone with a now gluten-free dedicated home successfully cleaned their wooden utensils, wooden cutting boards, and plastic cutting boards and continued to use? We don't use nonstick in our home and I am going to season all of our cast iron again. I have a lot of cutting boards and utensils, some pretty expensive. I hate to throw them all out. We...
  3. Have you tried Panda Puffs, Gorilla Munch, Leapin Lemurs, and Koala Crisps by Nature's Path Foods? They're all gluten-free, fairly low sugar (usually 7 or 8 grams) and actually taste good enough to eat plain or with milk. Our regular store (Publix) carries them, in addition to the organic stores. They also tend to go on sale every few months, in our area...
  4. I would just discuss with your wife. They can certainly eat gluten outside of the house. Our littles had no issues eating gluten and casein free when we switched. The little bit of extra cost is worth good health.
  5. Did you make sure you were logged in? I've had the empty nw content screen when inadvertently not logged in anymore.
  6. Are these family members or roommates?
  7. Is there any safe version of an elimination diet you can do while pregnant?
  8. The cookies were fine for us. I think if they're spreading, it helps to chill them a bit. I think the butter or replacement has to be softened (not melted) for that reason. Of course now that I'm not doing soy, we've got to figure another way out
  9. It's easy and yummy. Just use Earth's Balance spread in place of the butter required and then buy or make chocolate frosting. You will have to read the frosting containers and look for fudge rather than milk chocolate. There were several options that were Gluten-free Casein-free.
  10. I will have to go look at our chocolate chips. Pretty sure they were Sunspire and Gluten-free Casein-free. So sad to here that the company said that.
  11. Was just reading online that Enjoy Life brand does make allergen free chocolate bars and the Endangered Species line of chocolate bars is all gluten free.
  12. Enjoy Life chocolate chips are allergen free at least (gluten, dairy, and soy). Not sure about the bars. Sunspire products tend to be gluten free.
  13. Our local AMC was fine on popcorn for both gluten and casein avoiders. I read the package on the butter flavor and there wasn't a drop of dairy in it.
  14. I guess I should restate. I have long-term neurological and autoimmune symptoms that have been unexplained for years. I don't have short-term symptoms or GI symptoms, where I know within a few days whether I've consumed an offending item. I have had IgA testing done that shows high levels of antibodies to gluten, casein, soy, and egg. I do feel mentally...
  15. Has anyone found that they don't have to be quite as vigilant about cross contamination if they are gluten intolerant and not celiac? I'm not advocating eating gluten on purpose or not reading labels or checking restaurant ingredients, but wonder if it's as necessary to throw out cutting boards or avoid eating at other's houses or ask that food workers change...
  16. I would make sure to look up Arbonne products you're considering in the "Skin Deep" toxicity database. I had someone trying to sell me their products, and although the marketing touts how natural and pure they were, many were more toxic than average.
  17. What recipe do you use for homemade crackers? Storebought are so expensive, but it seems like an unusually high amount of work for a small amount of food for crackers I love to bake, but seem to have a mental block on the cracker thing.
  18. So how do you know you are gluten sensitive? I have no GI troubles, just autoimmune and neurological issues. I have been Gluten-free Casein-free for about two months and feel better mentally but not physically. I have read it can take quite some time to feel better when you don't have GI troubles if gluten is an issue. Is there a good guide on doing...
  19. I just received my Enterolab results back. I had prior serological results that showed no abnormal IgA results, just IgG. Can someone help me interpret, please? Fecal Anti-gliadin IgA
  20. We buy direct from UNFI through a local buying club. I believe you can learn more if you google United Buying Clubs. They are the largest natural foods distributor in the US.
  21. I went to order some flaxseed today (most are Bob's Red Mill) and noticed that they have a special gluten-free version. Does that mean regular flax is assumed to be gluten contaminated? I have not previously heard of that as a frequently contaminated product.
  22. I've had brownies take more than the recommended time with two different boxed mixes now. I never had to modify wheat flour recipes, but I'm assuming gluten-free recipes are more sensitive. So, what modifications should be made for high heat and/or high humidity. And, what is normal vs. high humidity?
  23. I guess with so much advice to try for 2 wks, 4 wks, etc., you expect there to be a big change in that time.
  24. Thanks for the reply. After reading about all of the potential side effects, I thought I'd finally found an answer to my unexplained neuro, autoimmune, and pain issues for the past nine years. Now after having been on the diet a month without significant improvement, I'm starting to be concerned that I'm not getting much but a placebo effect. The diet has...
  25. I'm not really sure if I am allergic, gluten sensitive, or not, with only the controversial IgG tests showing positives for gluten, wheat, and casein. I am doing a trial Gluten-free Casein-free diet to see if that works. What should my expectations be regarding improvement? I have been on the diet since 5/10. I feel mildly better, but still often fatigued...
