  1. I really like the disability angle. Why should we be ostracized in restaurants due to something we can't control? It's not more profitable to have ADA parking spaces, restrooms, and other accommodations. However, in my opinion, it's the upstanding thing to do.
  2. There are some older studies that showed virtually zero risk of pre-eclampsia when maternal protein intake was a minimum of 80 to 100 grams per day. Have you ever measured your protein intake on a daily basis?
  3. Do any of you soy intolerant folks find that you have to be as vigilant about externally used products with soy as you would gluten? I just shampooed my hair a bit ago and thought to look at the label. Sure enough, soy protein is right in the middle of the ingredients of my non-toxic, organic, and absolute favorite shampoo. I also just found soybean oil...
  4. Yes, definitely get paypal and setup your bank account with Amazon. Amazon has great prices and it is easy to have things shipped to you, primarily free.
  5. Please remember that physicians give advice. Handing you a prescription is far from an order forcing you to take it. You have every right to decline to take the advice given. No one knows your body better than you. I agree that I would be even more concerned that your doctor prescribed a drug not appropriate for your diagnosis, and one that has not worked...
  6. Are you willing to share your recipe?
  7. Look for pea protein or hemp protein. You will probably have to go to more natural stores to find them though. They are both Gluten-free Casein-free.
  8. Ours is a pediatric dentist but doesn't do xrays until there is lessened space between teeth, usually 2.5 years. He is probably 45 or 50. Guess I'm worried about teeth having to be pulled or an infection caused by delaying the fillings until he can sit still.
  9. They do laughing gas but said anesthesia would be more appropriate because he wouldn't sit through it. Does laughing gas not make you sit still? I called about a second opinion and Delta won't even cover it without counting it as one of two annual exams. That was crazy to me. Will probably do anyway but geez ... I don't think they took xrays. Dental...
  10. You really have to be careful with fast food. When we have eaten Wendy's on a road trip, even with safe foods, my kids were covered in eczema for several days. We always go inside, always mention allergies and getting sick (because they don't understand words like gluten or intolerance), and always ask that they change their gloves. More than once workers...
  11. My just turned 2-year old son was recently diagnosed with gluten intolerance. We went Gluten-free Casein-free immediately and so can't do further celiac testing. He definitely has at least DQ6 or DQ7, as I have both. In six months since his last visit (mostly on gluten as we didn't know better), he has developed five cavities on his front teeth. He already...
  12. At the bottom of the page is a bar with search as the first item.
  13. You could, but it could be gummy. Are you able to use potato starch? I've read of using that as a substitute.
  14. I like upping the protein content as well, not feeling like I'm cooking with white flour all the time.
  15. We do like coconut but it is kinda pricey and hasn't been on sale lately. Can you tell me how to make my own? Would adding protein powder make it viscous? Also, how do you add vitamins and EFAs? Grind a pill?
  16. Is it just Rice Dream brand that has the gluten contamination issue? I know I've seen others including Pacific Natural Brands (I think), so wanted to know if these others are known to be gluten-free. We try to keep our milk alternatives rotating so we don't do the same kind constantly. We do almond and hazelnut as well. Unfortunately none seem to be...
  17. Hey ladies, I'm not sure about international shipping, but The Teff Company has great rates for ivory and dark teff. They are where most companies get their teff that they repackage and sell I have heard.
  18. Most of them have trace amounts of dairy, which is what I'm trying to avoid. I think the Jarrow will work for me. Just need to find a children's chewable now.
  19. Thanks! I have a nice basil plant but we are starting to get some weird spots on all of our herbs and I have no clue what to do about it.
  20. That one says it has come into contact with dairy and soy
  21. I make a habit of surveying the fridge contents daily. For the things I want to use up, if I don't think of a meal right away, I can use the ingredient search at allrecipes.com. If you use the gluten-free checkbox, it seems to exclude tons of stuff that is really gluten-free, so I wouldn't use it. There are tons of easy substitutes for wheat recipes anyway...
  22. Does Starbucks offer any milk alternative besides soy?
  23. No, you don't need to eat gluten for the genetic test.
  24. Is your pesto recipe dairy free? If so, I'd love to have it.
