  1. Are you anemic? Are you only off gluten? I ask because anemia can cause fatigue (as can many other things), but there is most likely something that you are still deficient in that is causing the fatigue, iron, B vitamins, etc... A lot of people are also intolerant to dairy (very common) and also many other foods and this can cause many symptoms to...
  2. Was that 2 years ago?? Man time flies. I think last year there was a schedule conflict... It is $95/adults and $65/kids over 5. I really want my kids to go with me which is why it will cost us so much. I feel it is important that they get to spend time with other kids with the same dietary restrictions. And I really think it would make an impression...
  3. Okay, I think I'll register now...I was concerned about the price for a family of 5. $385 if we register before Sept., not to mention the gas money!! But if you guys are going to pay for plane tickets to go, then I really don't have anything to complain about. It is only a 3 hour drive for us! I've been wanting to go for the past 3 years. I just have...
  4. There is a brand of frozen potato products that I love called Alexia. They make garlic fries, oven fries, mashed potato and more. And they are marked gluten free on the label. I have gotten them at Whole Foods and at Save Mart. Also a lot of the Ore Ida products are gluten free as well.
  5. It could be DH. Has the dermatologist done a biopsy on your skin? They can tell if it is DH if they are looking for it...
  6. Hi Alison, I had (still have occasionally) joint pain really badly ever since I was a child. I've been gluten free for a few years now and it is much better. I would like to mention to you though that you should NOT go on the gluten free diet until after you see the gastro specialist. They will most likely want to do an Endoscopic exam with...
  7. This is by far the most comprehensive (and free) list available. Keep in mind that ingredients can change, so you still need to check the labels, but this will at least lead you to the most likely items to buy... Open Original Shared Link
  8. Try Vance's DariFree. Open Original Shared Link It is potato based and free of all the things you listed.
  9. Do you know if Excedrin Tension Headache pills are gluten free for sure? I used to use them and they worked well for me. The dose of caffeine helps keep my headaches from turning into migraines. But the makers of Excedrin won't reply to any of my requests for information. So I stopped asking and I stopped using it. Now I have to have a soda when I...

    ARCHIVED Tortillas

I wouldn't assume that any of the tortilla chips are safe at a restaurant. A lot of them are fried in a common fryer and will get contaminated from the gluten foods that they fry in there with them. It is best to ask your server if they are fried with other gluten foods (at mexican places most likely it would be fried with flour tortillas). You might also...
  11. Okay, I'll give it a shot here, but forgive me if I forget to answer anything... You should definitely stop eating the peanut butter and wait until the symptoms stop before trying another food. It would probably be a good idea to try a soy-only product to test soy. And you might have to have some each day for a few days before you get a reaction...
  12. Your talking about audible sounds coming from your intestines? I used to get that ALL the time when I was eating gluten, now I only get it when I am glutened accidentally. It sounds like really loud grumbling coming from inside, at least that is what mine sounded like. How long have you been gluten free? It can take some people many months to find relief...
  13. You should talk to Ursula. She is lectin sensitive and might be able to help you out. I already sent her a PM asking her to check out this topic. So maybe she'll stop by here next time she is online... Here is a link from her signature Open Original Shared Link Also, as for the Enterolab tests, they are real and valid and not everyone does test...
  14. If you are still in bed you could try laying on your belly with a heating pad between you and the bed. Also hot tea seems to help me when I have a lot of trapped gas. Although getting up and moving around will help the gas to move. I had a lot of gas and pain after mine (after I stopped throwing up for the first 12 hours!). Tylenol is okay to take...
  15. Mylanta liquid and tablets Mylanta II liquid and tablets Mylanta Plus liquid and tablets Rolaids-regular and extra strength Pepto-Bismol and many others...
  16. My insurance won't cover ANY test not ordered by a doctor and they only cover tests ordered by the doctor if it is done by certain labs/hospitals. So I didn't even try to get my insurance to cover it. I figured if they won't pay for an MRI that both my GP and Neurologist think I should have, then they aren't going to pay for a test by a private lab that...
  17. Hmmm...that is too bad about your daughter. My husband is the same way. He will have to get very sick before he will remove gluten from his diet. We already know he has the genes, and he admits he has problems with milk... Anyhow, my son says it isn't that bad having the surgery. They go up the nasal passage and if the sinus is blocked, they make an...
  18. I'm glad I could help. Although Ibuprofen doesn't contain aspirin there is something in it that is so similar that it can cause a reaction. It is just safer not to use it. My son only uses Tylenol. It is very limiting, but I would rather be limited that be suffering from other problems. He was 7 when he had the first surgery and the polyps had been...
  19. It won't necessarily make him sick just from touching it, but it almost invariably gets under the nails and microscopic bits get in the groves of the skin. Unless you immediately scrub his hands and under his nails, then he would most likely get glutened when he picks up his food to eat or puts his fingers in his mouth... It is just easier to make gluten...
  20. Ursula, yes, I am aware of the link between nasal polyps and aspirin/salicylates. We have a wonderful ENT that the whole family sees and he was the one who told us about the link. In fact his asthma is probably related too. We suspect he has Aspirin Triad Disease which is basically the allergy to aspirin causes both recurring nasal polyps and chronic wheezing...
  21. Thanks. My daughter loves to draw! She did this one last year when she was 6. I only wish I were as thin as she drew me!
  22. Since you know that you have 2 genes you can be assured that each of your children has at least one. I had my kids gene and antibody tested through Enterolab after they all came back inconclusive on the regular blood work and since I knew they had to have gotten one gene from me I was suprised to find out that my kids also had 2 genes that cause gluten intolerance...
  23. I haven't broke down and bought the colorations gluten-free playdough yet, but I have made some home-made. I just used rice flour instead of wheat flour in the regular recipe. My kids used to love playdough, but now they are getting older they like the Crayola model magic better. One thing to remember with all homemade playdough is that you have to store...
  24. The Enterolab tests are worth the money in my opinion, but don't expect your current doctor to accept them if they come back positive. Have you thought about getting a new pediatrician?
  25. Have they checked your liver? I have problems occasionally that seem to be my liver, but they never can quite figure it out. Most people have liver stones and just never know it until they cause problems. I had my GB out too about 7 years ago, and this liver related issue seems to have started right about the time I went gluten-free 3 years ago. Maybe...
