  1. Gluten Solutions Chocolate Mint protein bars, and ANDI bars. We take these with us anytime we leave the house for more than a few hours, since they will do for a meal replacement when there is nothing else safe to eat. They are gluten and dairy free, contain 12 -15 grams of protein, and are pretty low in sugar and they taste really good. God bless...
  2. I would be interested in knowing how the doctor responds and if you are able to get the test done. I have read about the test, but as far as I know it is not commonly done. In my opinion, it should be done more often, since it seems to be easier to do than the biopsy and less risky as far as getting a false negative result. God bless, Mariann
  3. I am a bit confused by the reference ranges. Usually the range for Gliadin is 20 or 30 depending on the lab. I have never seen it be as high as 45. And I wish they had considered the TTG IgA Abs reference range "less than 4 = negative" for my test. I had a 9 and they said it was negative if less than 20! I guess it is the diefference in labs. Maybe...
  4. ashase, I also had myself and my children tested through Enterolab. Here are our results: Me (32 year old female): Gene Test for Gluten Sensitivity Molecular analysis: HLA-DQB1*0201, 0301 Serologic equivalent: HLA-DQ 2,3 (Subtype 2,7) HLA gene analysis reveals that you have the main gene that predisposes to gluten sensitivity...
  5. Not all people get to the point of losing weight due to the diarrhea. I personally was overweight by 60 lbs when I went on the gluten free diet. I gained more weight with each of my three pregnancies and never was able to lose any weight. I think my body was so malnourished that it was holding onto everything I ate. I have now lost 20lbs. in 8 months...
  6. Jen, I also had negative blood tests, and my normal daily diet was pretty low in gluten. I wondered if that might have messed with my results. Also, I have never been able to get qany of my doctors to check my serum IgA level. There are an estimated 10% of Celiacs who are IgA deficient and those people would generally have false negative results. If...
  7. After 6 years of being 100% gluten free (or as close to it as possible!) it might take longer than 3 months back on gluten to cause enough damage to be seen with the endoscopy. Chances of your biopsy showing positive damage by October are pretty slim. I did a gluten challenge this last winter and was back on gluten for two months. (I had only been...
  8. Hi celiac3270, Sorry you are still having problems, but it sounds like your doctor is taking your symptoms seriously. So that is good news. I would highly recommend the digestive enzymes. They really helped me a lot. I couldn't digest anything after my gluten challenge before the biopsy. I was pretty much down to nothing but rice for the first...
  9. I had neg. blood tests (without serum IgA to check for deficiency, so they are inconclusive), then after the doctor refused a biopsy I went gluten-free. I had tried the diet before and always felt better off wheat/gluten. Then went back on gluten for two months for the biopsy, which also came back negative. Enterolab tests showed positive for antibodies...
  10. There are other choices out there than soy milk or rice milk. Both are gluten free and dairy free. The two that we use for our family are: Blue Diamond Almond Breeze (almond milk) 20% RDA of calcium Vance's DariFree beverage (made from potatos and tastes more like real milk) 30% RDA of calcium, same as cow's milk. Both come in regular and...

  12. Rice might be considered a good carb, but if you eat any of the gluten-free breads, cakes, cookies, and other goodies then you certainly couldn't call those good carbs or low carb! Despite the fact that I do eat gluten-free rice bread a couple of times a week and the same for the gluten-free sweets, I have lost 20 lbs in the last 8 months! I have...

If you remember the name of the person who posted it you can go to the member list (up on the top grey bar on the page with the little people heads by it) and find that name and click on "find all posts by this member". Otherwise all you can do is a search (found right next to the member list button) and try a search of any of the key words you remember...
  15. I am A positive, and so are all three of my children. My husband who still refused to be tested (even though my kids carry TWO genes for gluten intolerance) is O positive. According to Dr. Peter J D'Adamo who wrote a whole bunch of books on blood type diets, there is no increased risk of Celiac in any particular blood type. Every blood type has the...
  16. Gretchen, That is a great article, thanks for putting it here. It is exactly this reason why I like Dr. Fine's Enterolab tests. They pick up gluten sensitivity, where it is usually missed in the Celiac bloodtests and biopsy, yet still needs a gluten-free diet for optimum health.
  17. I have this book and I highly recommend it to everyone. Even people who aren't celiac or gluten intolerant can benefit from the information in it. It really goes into detail explaining what happens in our bodies when we eat grains. God bless, Mariann
  18. I love the Mr. Clean Magic Erasers. They clean up so well! But I was concerned that they might not be gluten-free, so I e-mailed them last week. I got this response from them: You can also get Material Safety Data Sheets using the link below to access the pages that will tell you exactly what is in each of the products made by Procter and Gamble...
  19. Hi Jaycee30, Welcome to the board! I think that it certainly would not be a bad idea to ask for the testing. I do know that some people have had good luck getting tested by an allergist, but the allergy doctors around my area don't seem to have any clue about Celiac Disease. One thing that stood out in your symptoms (at least to me) was "I bloat...
  20. I agree with Tiffany. I wouldn't use the pill on a daily basis, but would probably use it more than twice a year. Following the diet at home is easy, but we take chances every time we go out of the house and eat somewhere else. I would certainly like the option of having a pill that would lessen the reaction to accidental intake of gluten, but as a treatment...
  21. Have you talked to a doctor about getting him tested? At two he really should have some formed bm's, but if he is nursing often then they wouldn't be as solid as they should be. If he is having a problem with certains foods, then this could be a reason that he chooses nursing over eating regular food. The regular food might be causing stomachaches or gas...
  22. Tic Tacs contain dextrin which is a questionable ingredient. You would have to contact the manufacturer to find out if the dextrin is derived from wheat. I have one list that has them on it, but I would still call to check if I were you. I believe Lifesavers are gluten-free. Why would you need to take Pepto Bismol and Imodium at the same time?? If...
  23. Jill, Good for you! I'm glad it went so well and that your family members will be tested. I am not surprised that your intestine showed that it has healed quite a bit in the three weeks being gluten-free. I am so glad that your doctor is openminded about the negative biopsy, and it still being celiac disease! I wish mine was that open...
  24. I have a circular bald spot on the right side of my scalp. I have had it since I was 13 and my hair was falling out a lot (it was also a very stressful time in my life). I have never had ANY treatment for it, and it isn't really noticable. Should I be having some sort of treatment for it? Would the hair grow back after 20 years?? I don't have anymore...
  25. red345 accidently put this in a report to the moderator and it should have been the next reply:
