This has happened to me too! I am not as careful about iodine as I maybe should be- it's very difficult for me to avoid seafood. But I almost never add salt to anything, except when I'm making peanut butter and I rarely eat highly processed foods- organic cheeses and jams are usually the most processed I get. I don't really know why someone would miss gluten. I bake and everything I've made tastes as good or better (I love the almondy flavor Pamela's has) as gluteny things. No idea where you live, but in the US you have a legal right to a copy of your lab results- something to keep in mind if for some bizarre reason your doctor pushes back. Ew, get a new doctor asap. Seriously- to refuse to test someone with an extensive family history? That's bordering on malpractice. That said, if you've been gluten free for three months, you're probably going to get a false negative on a test. You have to be eating gluten for those things to come back positive. Yikes. Take your temperature- if you have anything resembling a fever go straight back to the hospital and this time demand a CT scan. More than likely it is just the celiac, but you really don't want to take any chances if there's a possibility of ruptured appendix or (if you're a lady) ovarian torsion. -

Elimination diets tend to be more accurate than testing, as long as you are strict and stick with them long enough to reasonably see results (or no results, as the case may be). It doesn't seem to complicated to me. It's been my experience that radiologists, pathologists, etc only report what they see, they don't diagnose. So... This is not a diagnosis in the normal sense. I find tramadol helps a little for the pain. It's prescription, though and when I'm gluten free I don't generally need it. I'm not super sensitive. I use triamcinolone acetonide ointment when my rashes flare up. It doesn't get rid of them but at least makes them itch less for a while. I was tested for vitamin D deficiency when all this first started, it was quite low. But everyone that I know that's been tested was low- I think it's baseline, especially in Alaska where I was living at the time. Basically normal for me these days is low grade fever and significant fatigue, it's a bit hard for me to tell sometimes if I'm ok or not. I did some research and found that a WBC <1.0 is considered acutely dangerous, so I won't keel over and die, but I am concerned about getting an infection. I think I know what you're talking about. Those kind of things are usually caused by injuries to the nail matrix, but that sort of thing can actually still fall under koilonychia especially if you're sure you haven't been injured. Here's another pic that might be closer to what you're talking about. I get deep vertical ridges in my big toenails, too...
