  1. Lately I have been to alot of social outings and of course I can't help but notice the huge amounts of wheat and carbs in every social gathering. Not only am I celiac but I am pre-diabetic and have to watch all carbs, and have had kidney stones issues for 27 years. Hydration is vital for me and I have to drink bottled water to stay away from the chlorination...
  2. I have been on gluten-free diet for nearly 1 1/2 years, have been doing so well. Been living life, jogging again. My memory has improved, gut nearly repaired. Went on a boat trip with friends, I was cautious as I have issues with motion sickness. I was SICK but it was not just the boat. I was short tempered, my head and stomach were a mess, I was having...
  3. I am grain-free......had been gluten-free a year and still having random issues and was tired of being sick.....it was like their was a fire in my body and one part of my body was being attacked at a time. I knew my diet was clean, kitchen clean, I wasn't eating out and I took all the steps for CC at home. I also knew I was sensative to sugars so I went ...
  4. Oh, no problem at all. They love their veggies and meats. Wonderful food! Enjoy, and let us know how it goes.
  5. I have those spells too. I sometimes think, "why me?" and "why can't I eat what everyone else can?" But what I know is if I do, I will be sick and it is not worth it Fortunately, there are some very good gluten-free products, even some very good gluten-free pizza! I am diabetic too so I have to be very careful with carbs but at least I can have the gluten...
  6. Thanks for this info, I did not know this. Do you mind me asking how old you are? I am 49. I have read that with age people can more need for certain vitamins like B12 but I did not know vit D was one of them.
  7. Yeah, good advise. I am not even taking a multi right now. I was thinking adding my multi back in that has a low dose of D. Right now I think I should be getting enough D from the sun but I may be mistaken.
  8. Interesting! I stopped taking vit D. I wonder if that could be part of my problem.
  9. I am having leg cramps that are especially bad at night.I had been doing well with my combo of magnesium, calcium and potassium and went off. Bad mistake! They have come on even stronger than before and this time I cannot seem to get my balance in my minerals to get the cramps to stop. Advise please!
  10. Greece is great, you will have no problems! They eat alot of wonderful veggies and meats that are cooked in olive oil, not breaded. I was there just last year and had no problems. Enjoy!
  11. Did my genetic testing this week, 6 weeks and I will have an answer. I have done some reading since and have found that some people have been misdiagnosed with celiac when really they had Fabry's Disease.
  12. Kind of sounds like you might have a pinched or inflamed nerve, possibly in your back. Our nerves radiate weird pain. I have had all kinds of nerve pain issues and it is like trying to trace a map to try and find the source but a doc who knows this stuff can be quite helpful. I would definately ask a doc his opinion on this being nerve pain, and I would if...
  13. Your journey is very uplifting, thank you for sharing. I am really trying!
  14. Don't know if Fabry has any connection to celiac. Received my tests back and I have borderline results and because of the symptoms I have been displaying I am being sent to a genetic clinic for further testing. Fabry is a genetic disease that lacks proper enzymes to break down fats in the body like it should. These fats build up in the body and cause brain...
  15. I am also very sensative too, rarely eat gluten-free foods. I have resorted to a veggie and meat diet for the most part so if I think vegetarian with a little meat it helps me realize I do have lots of options. I can eat and eat and eat veggies until they come out my ears. I do understand what you are saying. I have been to socials and out with groups where...
  16. Congratulations to you for kicking multiple myeloma! Docs did test me and reults were negative. I wish you the best in continued good health!
  17. Any of the heart pounding accompanied by the feeling of becoming sweating, feeling you could pass out and nausious? Could be your blood sugar. Eating creates a rise and fall in blood sugar that can go a little too high and then crash to a little too low. This is what was happening to me. When my glucose would fall my heart would pound, I would become sweaty...
  18. Your story is all too familiar. I had to children in the early 80's and at that time docs said their throwing up was normal. Docs thought I wasn't burping them enough. Formula then was limited and of course there was no mention of allergies. However, I put my oldest on fresh goat's milk, we had goats at the time, and she did really well. Both girls now are...
  19. No worries about the typos, lol, I have plenty with the computer keyboard.....a telephone would be a definate challenge! Welcome! Here's a few things to consider. If you think this could be a possibility I would make an appt with your doc to speak to him/her. If they decide to test for celiac realize you have to be eating gluten.....going off gluten and...
  20. I hear ya'! I said something very similiar the other day. It is amazing what the body takes and tries so hard to deal with. I think when we are in the midst of it we don't realize how sick we are as the whole process is gradual. I think it is once we get well and can reflect that we realize just how sick we were. If I look back to where I was a year ago,...
  21. It is great that you had the test done as now you know what you are reacting to and what you cannot eat, many of us here have had to guess and figure things out thru trial and error. I am one of the many here who have had neurological issues, I do hope that you are getting good care from your physician. My nuero issues ahve definately improved but the progress...
  22. Very sorry to hear about your mother and what you are dealing with right now. It's been said on here before that celiac can be triggered by stress and I think that is what happened in my case. I lost a grandparent and all that came about before his death was very hard to deal with and I became very ill like you have mentioned here. It sounds to me like...
  23. For me, it took several months. Just taking gluten out of my diet wasn't the answer. I started taking extra potassium and magnesium to help my muscles. I was put in Nexium for 5 months and even now a year later I am very careful because of the burning I had from my stomach and always take an antacid before I have anything spicy or acidic. Headaches will pass...
  24. GlutenGirl, hang in there! I have been on a gluten-free diet for a year, tough first year for me....while I was getting better there was just still strange things happening repeatedly. I had really cleaned up my diet, my kitchen, changed all my health care products. I finally 3 weeks ago went grain free including potatoes, sugar free including fruit right...
