  1. My gluten intolerance was very neglected unknowingly which caused me ALOT of issues.....terrible burhing in the stomach was one issue. I was taking two Nexium and day and it ws not enough.I was doing 2 does of Pepto in between. I have been on Nexium now for 5 months....when I try to go off the burning in my stomach comes back. I too have found relief from...
  2. My balance issues are my biggest and most sensative issue. It took me 5 months continually tightening my diet and being consistant before my balance came back when I initially went off glutens. I realize it is connected to gluten consumption, and wondering how it is connected? Is there an inflamation from the wheat, or something else, that occurs to cause...
  3. Realize for me, I have a gluten intolerance but became too sick to make it thru to my Celiac testing. For me, the balance issue is my biggest indicator that I have had glutens, my concentration, memory and even my speech are affected. What has helped me is taking an Advil as soon as I think I may have come into contact with gluten. I don't take anymore than...
  4. For a year while still on glutens I had this mole that kept coming up, would itch like mad and then it would go away. This was not one of the crusty top moles you get with age and/or sun exposure. Since being gluten-free this little beast has not shown itself. I was just wondering if this could have been gluten related? Anyone else have the same happen or...
  5. Has anyone here heard of ImmuneCare Glutenase Plus? It is a product from New Zealand that claims: Immunecare Glutenase Plus contains enzymes with DPP-IV (Dipeptidyl peptidase) activity DPP-IV can be found in the intestinal tract lining. One of its primary functions is breaking down gluten. The DPP-IV enzyme activity assists digestion of proline-containing...
  6. I ws having a problem with stuttering while I was on glutens. At the same time I was having lots of problems with vit defiencies so some of my symtoms were hard to figure if it was all related to the wheat. In actuallity it was in the sense that body was not absorbing nutrients properly because of the glutens. I still have to be real careful to keep my diet...
  7. Congrats! Feels nice, doesn't it? I did the same experiment, did find I had a slight intolerance and chose to do pills to help. I am slowly putting dairy in my diet now and actually feel like my diet is more balanced. With the pills I am having no reaction. It's really nice to have more options as far as eating!
  8. I have a growth on my thyroid which I am currently on meds to try and shrink. I am on a gluten-free, high fructose-free diet and I take a digestive defense aide for a slight dairy intolerance.
  9. Terri, for me the off-balance issue was the hardest of all of my symptoms to correct. Docs could not figure out what was wrong with me and I went thru numerous tests. When I initially went off wheat I wasn't looking at package ingredients and I didn't understand about cross contamination and how important it was to buy oats and the like that were labeled...
  10. Does anyone know if a gluten-free diet can help patients with Schizophrenia? IN my Celiac book this is one of the other related health issues but there is no info whether a change in diet can help.
  11. Gluten intolerance, like Celiac, does run in families. I have 2 grown daughters, an uncle and 4 grandchildren from the same side of the family who are all gluten intolerant. I am the only one who has been tested for Celiac but test was done after I was on a restricted diet so results were negative. It helped me to read a book about Celiac to understand...
  12. When I first started I cut out pasta and bread but wasn't looking at all the ingedients listed on packaging. I did continue to have black stools. What I noticed though was the gas and all the racket it my stomach left. I did this for about 6 weeks, then tried a plate of pasta and saw the difference and knew I was gluten intolerant. Tightened my diet, started...
  13. Thanks for the recipe! I made a layer of noodle dough for a homemade lasagna, combined 1/2 pizza crust dough and half all purpose gluten free flour with eggs, didn't knead the dough, rolled it (flipping repeatedly) out with rice flour and it made a wonderful lasagna. I'll have to try cornstarch, that's something I have not worked with yet.
  14. Good for you! Sounds like you are on your way, heading in a positive direction. I too am staying away for all meds. I have a friend who is a registered nurse who told me that the meds you can take will suuround the bones and keep the bones from losing any more calcium but a barrier is created that doesn not allow absorbtion. Avoiding high acid foods can...
  15. Thank you for all the replies. The only one suggested I haven't tried is the liquid aloe, will have to look for it. Has anyone heard of a charcoal product, used for taking poison out of the body. I know someone that uses it and likes it.
  16. It's an old family tradition past down to make homemade chicken and noodles. Tried making noodles tonight with rice flour and they crumbled.....dough was fine until I started kneading and then it fell apart. Any tips would be helpful!
  17. How long did it take to gain your bone mass? Were you taking additional calcium and vit D supplements? My scan also showed a loss and am curious when I should retest.
  18. Doc currently has me off dairy as well to see if it too may be affecting. My question is, are the over-the-counter meds okay for people with a dairy intolerance?
  19. I have come to the conclusion that if a doc cannot prescribe a pill for whatever problem a patient has it is out of their feild.
  20. Listening to others who have been down this road I always find it interesting, espcially linking the symptoms. I had a bad case of mono when I was 6, again while I was still in grade school. I also had tonsilitis rumorous times....that finally subsided before ther age of 40, I guess it's rare after that point. Same roller coaster with depression.....went...
  21. Just wondering if anyone has used any products that worked to help ease the discomfort of an accidental gluten dose, besides over-the-counter gas relief meds?
  22. My off balance issue and little hair-like feelings trailing on my skin are the last of my symptoms to remain after going on a gluten-free diet. Has anyone had any success in getting balance back by using any supplements? Or does it just take awhile being gluten-free to get balance back. I have tried genger tabs and they are doing nothing. I read this is a...
  23. Oh wow, I was not aware of this....very new. This makes me think now. I have a growth on my thyroid, had origiunally been sent to endo due to high calcium reading (hypercalcemia). Doc ran tests and said it wasn't hypercalcemia but found this growth on the thyroid instead. He ran tests....thyroid function normal, antibodies normal which he then determined...
  24. I am new to this as well. I just posted "New Here, My Journey." This might help you with some of the symptoms issues and whether you can relate. I could not do the 8 weeks on glutens to test for Celiac. I last 12 days and was so sick I had to go off. The way I found out is I had a reaction to an herb and I have since found out that herbs can make allergies...
  25. In Nov '10 I started a herbal detox. I had been so tired, took a class about increasing metabolism and this product was being sold. 2 months into taking this mixed herb supplement I started getting REALLY sick. Ended up in ER with chest pains, heart palpitations and my blood pressure was high. Docs found nothing wrong, sent me for a stress test on my heart...
