  1. Saw my new doc today. Results were not back on my MRI however he looked at all the tests I have had over the past 7 months, looked at what I was doing to supplement (vit) and said that he could get in trouble for officially calling this Celiac because I didn't have a biopsy on the intestines, however he was diagnosing me with Celiac, put it in my records...
  2. I didn't see anything mentioned about meds you were on. That would be my first thought, that something you are taking, perhaps your thyroid meds are keeping you up. I am also on meds to shrink a thyroid nodule and I am vit b deficient. I take one of my vit B complex at dinner time along with a magnesium tab and a melatonin about a half hour before bedtime...
  3. I personally am finding a low acidic diet is helping me.
  4. Your not alone in this journey. As you read people's posts most of us have had problems with docs. I too reached the point, like you going thru test after test, to try going off glutens and that's when I started feeling better. Once I told doc what I did, he then tested me for Celiac but I was already on a restricted diet so the results were negative. They...
  5. It's really great to have a diagnosis, part of your guessing games and years of possible doc appts without any outcome are behind you. There's lots to learn. My suggestion is to read read read!
  6. Not stupid.....I did this this past weekend and for the life of me could not figure out what I ate. Finally dawned on me that bread was placed on top of my salad, husband took it off but I ate the salad......mistake! Have you found anything that helps after being glutened? I used activated charcoal, a dose 3 times what the bottle recommends and it helps traumendously...
  7. As adults I think because we have had to deal with aches and pains we sometimes feel like our children should too sometimes but might not be aware to what degree something is bothering one of our children. My suggestion is to try and be sincere with your mom, let her know how you are feeling and ask her if she can make an appt for you. I also do not care...
  8. If you could get a doc to run a test for you would be the best bet however if you are just wondering and want to experiement you could always go back on gluten later if you thought this could be the answer. The symptoms listed would definately be worth trying to go gluten-free to see if they improved.
  9. Test results for Celiac are not real reliable. I person may test the first time and reults will be negative. A year later they might be positive. To cut out all glutens you have to read lots of labels and know what all grains are on the gluten list of forbiddens, there is one on this site which you might find very helpful. Try to buy as much gluten-free items...
  10. Yeah, I can take one and sleep without feeling groggy the next morning.
  11. My issues are not so much digestive. I get very dizzy, my speach is effected, my memory gets bad, I may even have blurred vision.
  12. Just speaking to a Celiac friend of mine and we were both saying it just seems to be one thing after the other. I have stones in my kidneys that have been lodged for 20 years and because of the location surgery would be too intrusive and not suggested. Good thing is that you can more than likely get your gallstones removed and cause no harm to your gallbladder...
  13. I found this article veru interesting and wanted to share. This lady's journey is like many of us here who have more balance issues than digestive issues and how hard it was for docs to figure out what was causing the issues. One things as I read in this article that I did not know is that copper deficiency is another problem with those who have ataxia. And...
  14. Did they happen to do a scan of your thyroid? My blood tests indicated that my thyroid was functioning properly however, the scan devealed a growth which I am now on meds to try and reduce. It might be worth checking into a little more.
  15. I have a terrible time with it. However, I thought it was due to my thyroid issues rather than the glutens. Even being clean with my diet it has not made a difference for me. If I get too chilled my lips and fingr tips will actually turn purplish. At times I have had to jump into bed with my fannel pjs on under thick cover and it will take hours to warm up...
  16. You asked about problems with vital organs? Are you having any issues with organs now? I have a teen at home and it is not an issue. Both she and my husband like the gluten-free foods I have made. I do still wheat flour in the house and my teenager might make a batch of cookies for her and her dad so we all have to be careful. I line of muffin pan, cover...
  17. I have traveled to the countries you mentioned. In my experience they probably would not understand "gluten-free." I travel quite a bit and because of the language barrier and the difficulty in understanding the message I am trying to convey I ahve learned to just try to eat safe, eat what you feel most sure of.....I eat alot of salads. If you have never...
  18. I too have problems staying warm but I had not linked it to the glutens, very interesting.
  19. For me I get the headache, then I get dizzy, my speach is like you described but my memory becomes realy bad. I will forget that I had already planned a meal and plan another one. I don't know how many times I have bought duplicate items. I will make an appt and totally forget I made it or have a conversationa nd have no memory of even talking to that person...
  20. Bea, I am not taking vit E. What does that help with? I do take the others including a probiotic on an empty stomach. I was not aware that anything could be done about my lodged stones, docs told me because of their location they more than likely will not move and even if they broke them up they would not be able to flush out because they ar in a spot that...
  21. In some ways I wish I would have known when I was your age. I think the adjustment would ahve been a bit easier than being 48, like myself, and having your world change. It is an adjustment either way and it will go get easier with time and you figure out what you can and cannot eat. Hang in there!
  22. Have you thought of going to another doc? I liked mine too but some things he was saying made no sense kind of like your post. What kind of thyroid issues are you having? Are you on meds? I have a nodule on my thyroid that I take meds to try and shrink, have to go back in Nov for retesting. I too still have symptoms and wonder if my meds are not working and...
  23. Bea amazing! As I had mentioned before I have been in counseling since mid Feb since all my sytmpoms landed me in ER. Yesterday in counseling she asked about my health issues, and I have been so so much better than 7 months ago, but it has been a real tough journey. I told her my support has been this group. I just cried so I do understand what you are saying...
  24. Bea, thanks so much for all the info. Everything you have posted has been extremely helpful!
