  1. Since my diagnosis, the more I read the more I connect to my childhood and feel I probably was born with this and it the reason for alot of problems I endured. I can see why it is considered a silent killer. I am fair skinned and have been told all my life that fair skinned people just seem to have more issues. Even back as a first grader I had cold sores...
  2. I live in Europe and travel quite a bit. If you are going to the well visited places like Paris you will have no trouble with the language, they are very good at English. You can tell them no bread, no croutons. I don't know how they will react if you tell them you are gluten-free, have not ever done it myself. When I eat out I try think what would not have...
  3. Be very careful though. The other responses are great advise. Just recently I ordered a salad that came with a dinner roll. They sat it on one side of my salad, I did not think a thing of it. Husband removed the bread and I ate the salad, bad choice, I got glutened. More than likely a crumb, or maybe several got on my salad without knowing and it was enough...
  4. I would guess that you probably did scratch your throat with the graham crackers. However, if it persists ask to have your thyroid checked. If the thyroid is enlarged or if you have a growth called a nodule on the thryoid it can make swollowing harder. I have a nodule that I am on meds for to shrink. Most people will have them before the age of 50 and never...
  5. How long have you been gluten-free? You only get nuero symptoms after gluten? I am my worst with dizziness after gluten (24 hours approx after consuming) but I live with on-going nuro issues. Sounds like you could have some vitamin deficencies going, espcially B. I take WSN Nerve Support Formula daily which contains thiamine- 103mg, Methyl B12- 1000 mg, B...
  6. Oh yes, this past New year's eve we had been invited to a party but my kidneys were acting up and I was in alot of pain. I have had kidney issues for over 20 years so nothing new to me but I don't normally go into and people don't realize I have the problem. Like you, my friends kept hounding me and I truely was sick sick so I finally let them know I was...
  7. I think you did the wise thing by adding an extra dose of iron. When your regular doc gets back ask to be retested or see what she thinks of the labwork done. I too have had a lifelong history of anemia and like you were indicating you would have more than likely felt something. Are you having in feeling of being faint, lightheaded or black-outs, naseua?...
  8. It takes awhile to figure out. I went to eating no boxed foods, no frozen entres, no fast food and no canned foods. Went I ate out it was salads, and still mostly is. Read every label. Amazingly I found wheat flour listed in my cookiung spray, in one of my favorite churizo sausage, in marinades, some ice cream and candy. Once your diet it tight and still...
  9. It has helped me appreciate every day we are given and to accept what I cannot change.
  10. Just recently had the same problem. Take a look at the list of foods high in salicylates and see if they are what you have been eating. That was my problem. It took a few days off them for the itching to stop but it did the trick.
  11. I have the trouble of wanting to sleep 10+ hours a night especially as the days shorten. The only real thing that I have felt has made as didderence is to actually get outside and absorb the sunshine thru my skin. I think it has to do with a vit d deficency and the vit d from the su helping the body absorb nutrients to the rest of your body. Make a poiunt...
  12. Gorgeous pics! Glad you had a good time and had no problems with glutens along the way!
  13. Well, it is a relief to know that I am not the only one dealing with this. I think a person really has to walk in our shoes to really realize. I went to a family reunion this past summer and as I watched my family eat their pastas and bread I was thinking 'this stuff is killing them.' I have tried a couple times to explain to people and they just do not get...
  14. Oh goodness, I too doubted it, I know what you are saying about the lab work. You got sick from something. Was it gluten or could it have been dairy? Most of my issues with glutens are also neuro, it is the dairy that gets my gut going shortly after eating it. I personally get my first signs of gluten about 24 hours after it was eaten and the first thing...
  15. Bananas, potatoes with the skins, and avocados all help......had lots of problems with it myself!
  16. Goodness, I had no clue! I have had kidney stone issues for 25 years! I have two 8 mm stones lodged in my left kidney in a dry pocket where even if they did do ultrasound treatment they still could not pass because no fluid pass thru the area and surgery is too intrusive. I can tell you what has worked for me to stop have all the issues, not sure if it will...
  17. Is it possible that you could also be having problems with dairy?
  18. Looking back now I think several things were clues: mono twice as a child, continual infections with acne as a teen, being able to peel off layers of my nails, repeated strep throat thru 20's and 30's, lifelong anemia, then came the migraine headaches, blurred and sometimes double vision, constantly tired thinking it was a light deprivation problem, stomach...
  19. In my case, my stomach yuck was from dairy, and still is. Journaling is good. With me I had to look back 24 hours to figure out what was effecting me if it was glutens, dairy would give me a gurgly stomach as soon as it got into my system. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
  20. Thanks Bea! Doing lots better here!!
  21. Funny you say this! My breakfast normally used to be a tortilla scrambler. Good news, you can make your own gluten free tortillas yourself. Congrast on your diagnosis. I was was diagnosed today.....benn gluten-free since April.
  22. Tingling in the hnds and feet is typical of low calcium levels. You might want to think about a calcium supplement with vit D to help absorb it.
  23. Thank you very much for this info. I am with you, I would very much rather control medical issues thru diet. All the numbrs with diabetes are new to me but I guess I will be learning them too. I really appreciate the reply!
  24. I hope the study is correct, I have not read that it was reversable. I do have ataxia issues so this gives me hope! I went to a low acidic diet which goes along with a diet without salicylates not only to help heal my system but in hopes to that it might help promote bone growth as I have lost in both spine and legs and a low acidic diet is supposed to be...
  25. Bea, could you share the name of the headache formula?
