  1. I'm calling total BS with that one! And good luck with your labour and delivery. I refused any pitocin... but after six days of labour did give in to having an epidural ( for my sanity... and my husband's lol)
  2. I'm not sure what it's like with those blood tests, but I know with the analytical results we get on water and waste samples that when we get a > symbol it means that the sample wasn't dilute enough (or wasn't diluted enough by lab staff) to get an accurate result. ( the test methodology is only good over a certain concentration range) Based on the...
  3. I frequently have their mocha frappucinos (one of my few vices). And I've never had any problem with them. I just ask them to do a good rinse of the blender before they make mine so there are none of those "chips" left in there (forget which drink it is that has those chips in them ...)
  4. Come join us in Canada if there's ever a draft!!
  5. Congrats on your pregnancy Ollie's Mom! We can beat the cravings :) Pretty amazing how that carb switch got triggered with pregnancy, right??

  6. I'm gonna jump in here. I'm currently 15 weeks with my second pregnancy. I've been gluten free for over 2.5 years. I didn't have any cravings for glutenous foods since early on in the diet... so years ago. But now.... all I want is glutenous garbage food!!! These are not breaking the habit cravings. These are I'm pregnant and totally want THIS FOOD cravings...
  7. I don't think there is anything you can take. I've had a terrible cold for over 4 weeks now (I'm 14 weeks PG) and neither the docs nor pharmacists will suggest anything other than hot water with lemon and honey. And I swear if I hear that suggestion one more time I may just scream. Ugh!! I just hope you get over you cold quicker than me! Good luck.
  8. I didn't gain much weight during my first pregnancy. But I felt fine and the baby's growth appeared OK on ultrasounds and when measuring my fundal height etc. I am small (5'5" and 120 lbs) and I think I gained maybe 20 lbs throughout the entire pregnancy. (I didn't pay too much attention to my weight because I never really have). I had a bunch of people telling...
  9. I'd say it's probably a 50/50 chance. I'd call the school and confirm the ingredients in the new chicken but start off with your thought that it was possibly the virus that was going around, but you just wanted to double check since it coincided with the new food at lunch. Good luck and I hope it was just a stomach bug.
  10. I would find out if he will give you a diagnosis based on the bloodwork alone. If yes, then a biopsy isn't necessary for a dx and I personally wouldn't put myself through it.
  11. Kaity, that's a terrible story. I'm never going to leave my LO at a table with ppl who don't take celiac seriously - and sadly there are a lot of them. And it just highlights one of the most ignorant assumptions about celiac - that the reaction has to happen immediately and if nothing happens within a minute gluten can't be the issue. Le sigh.
  12. I too firmly believe I would never have had my DS or be pregnant with number two if I had not gone gluten free. Mind you I was in such chronic pain and felt so awful before going gluten free that the thought of having children before I went gluten-free filled me with fear. As soon as I felt better I wanted to have babies! If a diagnosis is important to...
  13. I'm due Aug 29th. To the OP - I'm so sorry to hear that. Please take care. And I have my fingers crossed for you for your next cycle.
  14. Bingo. I think you nailed it. Mind you, I have the same skewed point of view as you.
  15. Hi all. Looking for some advice from people who know their food. I am self diagnosed celiac / NCGI ... whatever the case may be. My hubby and I decided to put our DS on a gluten-free diet a few months after he started ingesting gluten due to his awful bm's and diaper rash. Those have cleared up since we changed his diet. And his mystery fevers went away...
  16. Are the positive lines getting darker (when using first pee) or lighter? Are they showing up any quicker? Researchmomma is right - it may be a chemical pregnancy. That happened to me the cycle before I fell preggers with my DS. I got a faint positive a few days in a row then a negative. A few days later af arrived. My current pregnancy I didn't get a...
  17. Ginger really works for me. Even just smelling fresh ginger makes my stomach feel so much better. Sometimes, I just put some fresh ginger in hot water and sip that really slowly. (BTW, when I'm not preggers, ginger is completely unappealing to me, lol.)
  18. researchmomma beat me to it! Strange as it sounds, the hpt's you can buy yourself (especially the dollar store ones - I kid you not) are sometimes way more sensitive than the ones they use in the doctor's office. I used a fairly sensitive hpt this time around (25 mIU/L - yup, from the dollar store) and the line was really faint until about 18 dpo (or...
  19. Yes, that's a good decision I think. And btw, if the test line is there then its positive. It doesn't need to be as dark as the control line. Congrats! I think there will be a lot of babies born next year around August and September ... I just found out we're expecting our second a few weeks ago and I know a couple of other ladies on this board are preggers...
  20. Same sort of thing happened to me. I don't own a scale, but had a pretty good idea of my weight (it was around 130 lbs, I am 5'5", so I was thin to begin with). The first few months gluten free, I dropped 10 lbs, which was very scary, because I was eating so much and didn't know if it would stop. But eventually my weight did stabilize, and I just weighed...
  21. I'm not a doctor, but I don't see why it would matter if you ingest it or inject it - gluten would cause harm none-the-less. Right? If the impact from gluten was only felt in the GI tract (ie - like a surface contact issue) then I don't see why people would be prone to neuro symptoms (migraines, ataxia, etc.) or rashes (like DH) etc... Gluten gets into...
  22. Personally, I simply tell everyone that I am "allergic to gluten." Sometimes (if they are somewhat knowledgeable about gluten) they ask, "Do you have Celiac?" and I say "Yes." But I am self diagnosed via an elimination diet. I want people to understand the seriousness of my gluten issues - to the point where I don't care if what I'm saying is actually...

    ARCHIVED PCOS And Celiac

I used to get awful migraines with my periods before going gluten free. Also, my periods were not normal at all - I only realize this now that I'm having normal periods. When I was eating gluten, the were thick, and old and rotten looking (sorry if TMI). Now, no headaches, no vomiting, and normal flow / colour. I agree with you SalmonNationWoman - I...
  24. I did laugh a bit to myself over this. You are willing to use the terms Asperger's and HFA interchangeably (even though, technically, they are different diagnoses - although they have many similarities)... but you are unwilling to accept someone using the terms Celiac and gluten intolerant interchangeably (different diagnoses - although they have many similarities...
  25. Maybe I'm an anomaly here, but I spend less money on groceries now that I'm gluten free than before. Eating gluten free for us means preparing all of our meals from scratch. Which means having a food plan for the week. I get my flyers every Thursday... so every Thursday after my son goes to bed, I go through the flyers and make up my shopping list. I...
