ARCHIVED Wisconsin Celiacs Unite!
jams replied to frenchiemama's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Carol - PNS is still expensive. I think in general health food is expensive. However, it is handy. They have the Amy's frozen meals. That is great for me for lunches. They are about $4.00. The bread is $5.00 and Amy's Cheese Pizza is $6.50. I love it for the convenience. We are always on the go. It is great to make and know that I will be gluten... -
ROLOS??? I didn't realize they were gluten-free! I am headed to the store right now!!

Hi Carol! I cannot help you with yeast free bread... But I did want to say hi!! I am in Dousman. It is about 4 miles south of Oconomowoc. There are a lot of gluten-free items at the new Pick N Save in Oconomowoc. Also, if you get to Milwaukee, there is a Gluten Free Trading Company that has a lot to offer. Sorry I couldn't help with the bread... -
I just need to vent about this experience. I normally wouldn't complain on the board, I would complain to my family. However, my family is involved!! My mom is getting married tomorrow! We had the rehersal dinner tonight, at of all places, an Italian restaurant. Now I can normally get away with something simple in these situations. Something such...

ARCHIVED Anheuser-busch

Usingers are gluten-free too. I had the same problem at the websites for gluten-free beer. I am not very computer friendly so that may be some of the problem too. I did try the Bard's Tale, didn't care for it too much. I am a lite beer fan. I was told the Rampo Valley (sp?) may be a better choice for me. I just can't figure out how to order it!... -
I don't have inflamation. I do have "eye crusties" (that is what I call them). It is similliar to what you would get after waking in the morning, but it is all day. I took away makeup and changed my soap, but it just doesn't help. I also couldn't wear contacts because my eyes were dry before going gluten-free. I now can wear them for up to 12 hours!...

OH NO! The Packer game & no beer?? That happend to me 2 years ago. I smuggled Captn Morgans in! SHHH!! It still wasn't the same as beer & Packers though! -
I was waiting for my daughter to get out of school today when I decided to read the ingredients in Altoiods. Much to my suprise they are made in NJ and have wheat maltodextrin listed!! I was very sad because I love the small ones! I haven't checked the larger ones, but steer clear of the small Altoids.

ARCHIVED Sprouts Harvested "before Gluten Forms"
jams replied to misskris's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I had asked this same question a few weeks ago. The answer I got, in a nutshell, was a baby kitten is still a cat no matter how you look at it. So, baby wheat stalks are still wheat. I had someone that still argues the point with me. I just choose to walk away as she doesn't understand how sick we get if we "just try it". I don't want to risk it. ... -
I don't know how much faith I put into this man, but here's my story. We had a neighborhood cookout on Sunday Sept. 4. There is a new family in town and they wanted to meet the new neighbors. The husband works for Anheuser-Busch as a sales manager. He is pretty high up as he has been relocating every 2 years or so to work up the ladder. He said they...

I didn't see it, however, the season premier is Sept. 13 so I would only assume that it was a rerun (You know what happens when you assume! ). I watched regularly last year and didn't see anything about Celiacs. Hopefully we will be able to find out when it airs before so we can pass the word along!

Is it Dextrose or Dextrin that we need to watch for? I thought anything that rhymed with gross was sugar. Maybe I am confused???? -

ARCHIVED Sunkist -- Yikes, Diet Vs. Reg Is Really Impt!
jams replied to celiac3270's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Did Sunkist reply to you yet? I had called them about regular Sunkist and they said that all of their products are gluten free. I'd like to know if that is different! Thanks! -
ARCHIVED Smoking
jams replied to Lisa's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
How ironic is this posting!?!? I quit last Sunday 8/21. I am really struggling right now because my husband smokes. I really want to quit though. My jaw is sore from chewing gum! I never thought to look at a tobacco website for pointers though! Thanks! -
Grandma Ferdon's
jams replied to BamBam's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I finally know what Grandma Ferdon's is!! I am sitting here eating some Donut Holes , (Grandma Ferdon's of course!) drinking coffee and reading the Celiac Message Board. How much more could one Celiac ask for?? I found Grandma Ferdon's at The Good Harvest store in Waukesha, Wi. Everything is frozen but still good! The store is only about 1/2... -

What about Sprecher? Anyone know if that is gluten-free? Or the Cream Soda? -
Thanks Wendy! I left a message again yesterday. I keep getting voice mail when I call. The Baird's Tale is a little too full bodied for me. I liked Miller Lite. (I'm from Wisconsin!) Hopefully I'll get them sooner or later!

ARCHIVED Gluten-free Deli Meats
jams replied to elbar's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I just called Hormel about their hard salami. It is gluten-free! -
Okay... I am having a problem. I live in Wisconsin and want to try the Honey Passover Beer - Ramapo Valley Brewery, USA . The Baird's Tale website gives you the areas you can purchase the beer. Does anyone know how I can go about getting the Ramapo Valley beer? I tried to email them but they didn't respond. That was about 2 weeks ago. I put a call into...

ARCHIVED Wisconsin Celiacs Unite!
jams replied to frenchiemama's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I am going to try to get to the Madison bakery this Sunday. I called them last weekend and they said they have a "try before you buy" every Sunday. They close down Saturday and wash everything down. They then do only gluten-free on Sundays. I am about an hour away from there. I am pretty excited to check it out. I have yet to have that feeling of... -

I am from Dousman. It is a small town between Milwaukee and Madison. There is a support group Milwaukee Celiac-Sprue Crew. Open Original Shared Link Here is the link for information on them. I have not been to any meetings as I work most week nights. I do get the quarterly newsletters. There is some helpfull local information. It is for the entire... -
ARCHIVED Alcohol
jams replied to Mahee34's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I just got off of the phone from B&J. They said if you can find a wine based cooler it would be safe. They have a list by state. I am in Wisconsin and they only sell the malted base coolers in Wisconsin. It depends on the state you are in I guess. -
ARCHIVED Alcohol
jams replied to Mahee34's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have tried to find B&J wine coolers that do not have the malted flavoring. If is says malted flavoring it is not okay right?
