  1. Here is the mother of all Celiac links! I found it last night- Celiac webrings: Open Original Shared Link I think it links you to over 80 sites dealing with celiac. (I was up 'til 3! ) - Michelle
  2. I'm 5'4" - I think I stopped growing when I was about 16. (Is that normal?) I'm taller than my mom, so I don't know if it has affected me or not! I wish I was taller though! Do you think it's not too late? Oh well, it's always nice to date guys who are taller than me!
  3. Hello I'm from SLC and here is a link for you to check out (put up by the Gluten Intolerance Group of Utah): Open Original Shared Link I have only been gluten free for 6 days so I haven't eaten out much - but the other night I went to Biaggi's Italian restaurant and it was crazy good. Wow! I had no idea that rice pasta could be so tasty! It...

    ARCHIVED "celiac Isn't Hereditary"

Thanks everybody. (I appreciate the NIH link in particular, since I don't really have enough time/energy to look too much up right now!) The only thing is - I think this doctor is a miserable worthless piece of green rat ... poop. (I'm trying to stay G rated ) He appears to be one of those M.D.'s (M. Dieties) who thinks that his patients are all a...
  5. I *love* the Mi-del gluten free ginger snaps cookies. They have been the basis of my gluten free diet (oink) I think I ate a whole bag on Saturday. My friends helped me, but umm... not that much oink oink oink OH! And yesterday I found these gluten-free, dairy free chocolate chips from tropical source candies.. oooohhhhhhhh.... that's good...

    ARCHIVED "celiac Isn't Hereditary"

Today my mom and I took my dad to the emergency room because he has pneumonia, but before we could get him admitted we had to see his general practitioner (internal medicine doctor). While I was there, I said to him, "I was just diagnosed with Celiac and I'm pretty sure that I got it through him, so we would like you to do a test for that at some point too...
  7. Nini - Thank you for your response. We ended up taking dad to the emergency room because he was absolutely delirious. It turns out that he has pneumonia - and that his oxygen level was only 72%! Wow. Anyway - see my other post (that I'm about to put up! ) about what his doctor said about celiac... **We are now leaving this topic! Please...
  8. If anyone can help me, please reply ASAP. My dad (who I am sure has celiac disease, who I've mentioned before is bipolar) seems to have completely lost it. My mom and I are about to take him to the hospital. (In the next few minutes, please post soon if you have a response to this.) Right now he has a temperature of 102 and is talking to himself...
  9. Andrew, From all that I've read (and been told by my doctors) after 6 weeks gluten-free, the biopsy would not be accurate. Unless you want to do a "gluten challenge" (eating gluten at every meal, and in snacks too) for a few weeks prior to having a biopsy, I don't think it would do you any good. If I were in your position, I would have a tTG...
  10. Stephanie, Yay! I am so happy that you are feeling better It has been really good for me also, to see that there are other people who have emotional reactions to gluten. It actually gives me a lot of hope for my future. Though I would never wish heartache on anyone, I am so grateful to you for opening up in this forum. If you (and everyone...
  11. Nope I didn't die I think I must have some kind of special purpose in this life ... Thanks for caring - Michelle
  12. Stef, Nope, neither of us new that I would have an allergy to dogs. I mean, in the beginning of our relationship (a little over a year ago) I had absolutely no problems with animal allergies. It's really sad too because I love his dog (Nikita). She is so sweet and loving and looks like a polar bear! She's really a good dog, never barks really, just...
  13. Gina, Thanks. I'm still technically with this guy, but we are slipping apart - or pulling apart, rather. I haven't actually spent a night with him since I had my diagnosis (the blood test). I went over to his house the other night and ended up coming home because he has this (beautiful, sweet) dog that I'm terribly allergic to. I couldn't breathe...
  14. I went to their website and it kinda ticked me off Their "shipping information" is a joke - I don't know where they are *or* how much it costs to ship stuff! You would think that they would at least list some decent contact information... geez! The picture of their food look lovely, but I don't want to sign up for something that will cost $400 to ship...
  15. Mine was a vegan oatmeal cookie at Wild Oats. Mmm... it was yummy. It's wasn't *that* yummy though because I was kinda full from just eating a vegan chocolate chip cookie
  16. Sue, Hello. The tTG is extremely sensitive. This is from the book "Dangerous Grains" (my fav. book to quote ) "The tTG test usually identifies about 98% of those who have celiac disease, and it is a very specific test that can be used to rule out celiac disease in 95% of patients. This test appears to be superior to endomysium antibody testing...
  17. Stephanie, Sorry to make you cry again! I so know how you feel though - when I was in gluten hell I shed a lot of tears as I read nice things people wrote for me here. It just kinda rips your guts out when people are so nice to you, huh? But get used to it because I think a lot of people here like ya Oh, and *don't* think that it's going to...
  18. Oh Stephanie I'm so sorry that you're going through this It absolutely sucks. I've had troubles with depression through most of my life, so I know where you are coming from. I spent *years* on anti-depressants (Prozac, Paxil, Wellbutrin, Effexor, etc.). I went off of the Wellbutrin/Effexor combo a few years ago and had been fine until I started...
  19. Of course you do - Michelle
  20. Those BASTARDS!! Sorry Terri - we are simply too unique and exceptional Try Annie's Naturals dressings. They taste better anyway Plus, most of them have "Gluten free" printed right on the bottle Michelle
  21. That's true. However, there are 27 pages of "Sources" which are all from medical journals. So I don't think he made too much of it up - Michelle
  22. Thanks celiac3270 Hey, I am having these really weird pains today. I feel like someone is pinching me *really hard* a little to the right of my belly button. Is this normal? Am I gonna die??? (If so, please sue the University of Utah hospital as fellow Celiac patients and use the money to get some research done) (Then put lots of...
  23. Hey I just found the outpatient papers that they sent home with my parents (nice that they told me about 'em, eh? ) ! Findings: - The examined esophagus was normal (yay!) - The entire examined stomach was normal (yay!) - Diffuse moderately erythematous and atrophic mucosa without active bleeding and with no stigmata of bleeding was...
  24. mmm..gluten, That was a very insightful response Nice summary of how those of us without the immediate symptoms feel Thanks, - Michelle p.s. Please check out the post "Anyone Know Statistics?" (from the "Coping With - " Forum)
  25. No kidding!!! Tiffany, I was wondering... do you have any rooms for rent? Will you be my mentor? - Michelle
