  1. Well, a lot depends on how sensitive you are, I guess. I'd make sure to have gluten-free dish soap, take a flexible cutting board, perhaps kitchen gloves for cleaning up. How about a container to keep your food in, so it's not cc'd? Someone mentioned toaster bags of you like toast. I'd volunteer to help with the cooking so you can pull gluten-free...
  2. It is very easy. You'll learn how to cook.
  3. Those crazy things you can't pronounce may be what you're reacting to. Write those ingredients in your journal. Figure out what they are - MSG, etc. Next time it happens, did you eat the same stuff??? This is how you figure it out.
  4. Boil some bone-in chicken pieces with onion, celery, carrots, bay leaf, peppercorns, salt. Remove chicken and debone. Strain and save stock. Add chicken meat, chopped raw carrots and any other seasoning to the stock. Cook til carrots are to desired softness. Eat it. If you like rice, add it in to the stock in that last step or cook it separately and ladle...
  5. You need to look at the Jennie O bacon and see what's in it. As far as allergy testing, opinions vary. Some people have problems accurately dx'ed. Others come back allergic to everything - literally, so they discount it. I haven't had any food allergy testing, so I'm no help on this one.
  6. Get a copy of Dr. Lee's book - I have What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Menopause. Read it. Consider trying natural progesterone cream to help with your cycles and the mass. When you go to the doctor, ask for a full celiac panel. See what the results are and go from there.
  7. I'd feel sick if that's all I ate, too. Lookt your food journal. When did the worst symptoms hit? What did you eat in the previous 24 hours. Try making smoothies from something else - peaches, mango, etc. see if it changes. Cut the amount in half. Eat some protein. Switch it up. Experiment.
  8. Ok, I know I'm hammering at this...but what kind of tumor was it? Was it a benign mass? Most unprocessed food is gluten free - fruits, veggies, meats, herbs, spices. There are quite a few processed foods that are gluten-free but not labeled so. It's easier than you think. Read through the posts here about "newbies". You'll get a lot of ideas.
  9. Oh yeah baby. I'll be taking it to a food pantry, then. On top of the leftovers, our son has a huge bag. Ugh!
  10. Unfortunately the bags are open. Trying to talk hubby into taking it to a customer - building full of engineers. They always want sugar and caffeine...... Makes me green to look at it.
  11. Well, I have never eaten so little Halloween candy in my life. And I don't think I will want it again. I woke up with a sugar HANGOVER!!!! We have BAGS of that crap left. Not as many kids came by as we expected. What should I do with it? Throw it out?
  12. Well, hopefully your bloodwork will shed some light and help you figure it out. If you feel better off gluten, do it. If you fe better off soy, dairy, whatever else....do it. One thing you shouldn't do is stop trying to figure out what's going on because you are determined its ONLY gluten. Many people with gluten issues have more than one issue....
  13. So, you have uterine fibroids? Have you ever read Dr. John Lee's book on progesterone cream? If you suspect you have gluten issues, try the gluten-free diet. If you want to be tested for Celiac, get testing first before proceeding with the diet since gluten withdrawal negates the tests.
  14. Why not? I'd always assume it could come back, though. I probably have/had endometriosis - and the best "cure" for that is supposed to be pregnancy. And so far it has worked. My son is 9 and I don't have the awful cramps. Then again, I was in the middle of dx when I got pg, and since I also appear to have gluten issues (and intestines are awfully close...
  15. It depends. Most would use them temporarily until the body starts digesting and processing foods better. It helps break down your food so your digestive system has an easier time.
  16. Soy. Try going soy free for a week, in addition to gluten-free, milk and see what happens. That dinner was pretty straight forward and soy is the most likely culprit. Also, are you taking digestive enzymes? Try that with your meals to help them digest easier, you may try that before dropping soy. Also, those smoothies would have sent my acidic...
  17. Distilled vinegar is fine for most people with gluten issues. That said, it may not be for you. We use Lea & Perrins and I think I'm fine with it. You are correct the biggest problem here is that your Dad isn't being honest with you. You may need to consider you have other food issues, or something else going on. Also, it's still early and many...
  18. I was using cosmetics that used wheat germ oil where the gluten was supposed to be removed. Fine til 2 months or so gluten-free, then my eyes started swelling. No more.....
  19. I don't really hear anything when I listen to the binaural beats (other than music) but some of them agitate me, others soothe me - and not necessarily the ones that are named "soothing". I guess it's effective - but I have noticed i sometimes don't like what is prescribed for the problem - some of the relaxation ones make me climb the wall.
  20. So, I've always wanted a turducken for Thanksgiving, but it wasn't possible til this year. Of course, now I've got to do it myself instead of ordering one.... Sigh. I found two recipes for a turducken roulade...anyone ever make one of these at home? Hints??
  21. I think we used Tidy Cat...one of the clay clumping ones, unscented. We also used Feline Pine. My cat was super picky.....she preferred the clay one that was for multiple cats. Check both of these for gluten. The Feline Pine Scoopable contains guar gum in addition to pine. Open Original Shared Link
  22. Isn't it???? I thought all of it was good, especially the vanilla and dark chocolate. But the sea salt caramel should be illegal. Thank goodness the store I usually shop at doesn't carry the caramel....
  23. I recently took great pleasure in breaking the two cee dee's (every time I type the letters c and d it turns it into celiac disease!!!!) I used during my 3-day labor, and tossing them in the trash. Couldn't even look at them without my back hurting. I do have "Binaural Beats" on my phone...some are very soothing, others are like fingernails down a chalkboard...
  24. I went to a round table last week, of the local Celiac group. I was the youngest one there by a long shot (and I'm 40). I know a few were in their 80's. Most had been dx'ed in the last 5 years. I thought it was great to see so many people who obviously had NOT tossed in the towel and are still working to improve their health.
  25. Makes sense it would. I made a loaf of bread that had sorghum in the mix and it reminded me more of "wheat" flavor....although the loaf was like "whole wheat". My freezer is sooo full right now. Can't imagine cramming another bag of flour in there!
