  1. Digestive enzymes????
  2. I'm taking my son in for testing this week... I wonder about behavior issues and a few stomach issues also. My husband is fine with gluten-free so far - But it's not HIM, it's me. If our son's genetic screen comes back more positive than mine it will get interesting. Evidently I have come down with a bug so I'm going to be brief...more later.
  3. DH can come on fast. Unfortunately, it doesn't leave that quickly in my experience. Sounds like dermatitis or hives (thank goodness!).
  4. I had ulcers as a child/teen, and ongoing acid problems in my late 20's. The only things that helped me was to drink lots of water, especially in the morning and to stay away from acidic foods (unless part of a meal), eat stuff that absorbed acid (crackers), and eat regular meals. When the acid would go nuts I'd take a visualization moment (imagined...
  5. I'm so sorry to hear this. Good luck today, and let us know if we can help.
  6. Gets in your eyes, too. Gets on your pillow - you roll in it at night (in my case, I drool.... ). Wheat germ oil makes my hands, eyes swell. My reaction to topical wasn't always there. I was about 2 months gluten-free when it hit.
  7. I've seen it mentioned that DH (the skin form of Celiac) was considered to be a high risk for Suicide before they figured how to treat it. It's supposed to be one if the most miserable skin conditions, ever.
  8. No, you aren't a hypochondriac. You have legitimate reason for concern. Your lab panel was not complete, so quite frankly your doc can't say you were negative. Get a complete panel, push for an endoscopy if you want (regardless of blood tests). In the end, you can go gluten-free on your own and see if it helps, that's the good news. I would also...
  9. Interesting (and scary). I've been having blood sugar regulation issues... A week or so ago I started taking my probiotic with my thyroid med in the morning, wondering if it would help the absorption (because I'm wondering if I'm swinging hyper since I'm at the same dosage as pre-dx). I think it's helping....my blood sugar SEEMS more stable but it could...
  10. Yes. Although I've yet to clearly ingest gluten again to really "know" that was it. I'm sure it will happen, though....
  11. Try clicking on some of the main website buttons For information. This is the link for gluten ingredients: /celiac-disease/safe-gluten-free-food-list-safe-ingredients-r181/ There are other main site buttons for menus, cooking, etc. Shopping and cooking and eating out will be different now...I won't lie. Stick to whole, unprocessed easy to digest...
  12. Really? The ones I buy don't.... I'm sure there are brands with it...just not ones I've seen.
  13. I made the Chebe focaccia bread in my cast iron and it was fabulous!
  14. Hey there.... First, congratulations on Tge baby. I know right now you feel like spanking him/her but this will improve. Have you tried ginger? Ginger tea, pickled sushi ginger, ginger candies? Not a lot - just a bit. Peppermint helps me - peppermint tea, especially. Have you tried Sea Bands? The stretchy pressure bracelets to help with motion...
  15. Probiotics, digestive enzymes and charcoal tablets. All need to be taken ASAP - as in within an hour of the glutening (especially the charcoal). The probiotics won't hurt every day to help balance the gut, digestive enzymes can help digest meals daily. If she gets blue in winter maybe she needs vitamin D?
  16. Be careful if you have a gas oven, or cookware you value highly. I've heard the seasoning can melt off, and of you put foil in the oven to catch it the foil literally melts to tge rack or liner. Not good. Also, I think more people have cast iron crack in clean mode in gas ovens, although its possible in electric. Google "reseasoning cast iron" and...
  17. Organic whipping cream (in a carton) shouldn't contain carageenan. Put it in a bowl with powdered sugar and whip away!
  18. I don't bother with the bread....I use crackers instead. I make salad - chicken, etc. and eat it with crackers. Cold cuts or leftover steak, chicken, etc. Make a lasagna or other casserole and nuke it. Same with soups. Rice dishes reheat nicely. I'll also just snack on nuts, fruits, veggies for lunch.
  19. That's the question of the decade! It depends what you like - whole grain v. "white".... Other allergies, issues, etc. If you are new to gluten-free try to stay away from the processed stuff for the first month or two - sometimes its just too much for your body to deal with. That said, if you want ready-made Rudi's and Udi's have a good following...
  20. Whoa baby, alcohol just isn't worth it for me, anymore. I can't have more than 1 drink (like going from 0 to 100 mph in two seconds), and it messes with my blood sugar...and doesn't taste the same.... I use natural progesterone cream for hormonal issues, and tried very low dose progenolone/dha for a few months...which worked GREAT, btw.
  21. I'm the first, that I know of. Evidently I have a cousin with Crohn's, other family members with thyroid issues.... Have the lab sheet to have my son tested and I am working up the nerve to do it. For some reason I just want to get through the holidays before finding out....
  22. Dead Bread Heads. LOVE it!!
  23. There's no magic cure, that's for sure.... Good luck on the 13th. Get copies of all past tests and take with you. It could be a lot of things, but the top two appear to be thyroid and vitamin deficiencies (or both).
  24. I'd find a new gp or an endocrinologist. Get copies of all your labs.
  25. I'm so jealous! I loved Greece, and want to go back.
