  1. So here's my answer: if it says modified food starch on the label- I avoid at all cost. If it says modified corn starch, modified potato starch then okay- it's defined so that good. Anything I question I either google or just plain don't eat it. No definition in food starches is a chance to get glutened and I'm not up for that. I hope this helps!
  2. Signs- Five Man Electric Band
  3. I have to agree there, before I was diagnosed that was all that kept me going. Now it seems that when I'm good things are awesome and I have a ton of energy! But, when I get glutened I'm down for the count, and it takes me longer to come back with less gluten. I assume this is because it's not in my system anymore lol maybe I just need to power through it...
  4. It's worth a try, ultimately the treatment will be going gluten free. Are you willing to just stay gluten free and roll with the fact that it works rather than putting yourself through all of the testing? I remember my doc asking me things like that, and then he decided we were resting anyway, same outcome though. Eating gluten is torture for me, I'm guessing...

I love Whole Foods but they're over an hour away.

You still can't take the hippie out of me - it's part of my identity and those were in some ways my best years years (wish I realized it at the time).XXX Loey

  7. I'm good! sorry it took me so long to realize I had a comment....

  9. Oh you're definitely right there! I'm still feeling down for the count today, maybe tomorrow will be better. :-/
  10. As far as I've seen in the US the only gluten-free ones are regular. I haven't found any flavored ones that are okay. I have bought the regular chips in Canada as well, but didn't even consider the other flavors may have different ingredients. Thank you for the reminder!
  11. Any way that you look at it you need to find a new doc. How can you see a doc you don't have faith in? That's just not possible, you'll second guess everything she says which makes the appt useless in the first place. Find another doc, and start eating gluten again. Unfortunately if you're going to be tested or want to be, you need to have it in your system...
  12. This totally just made my night!!! Thank you!! haha it's the little things!
  13. I AM THE QUEEN OF #4 hahaha I used to apologize about it, but not anymore. My health is worth ALOT more than that to me. People will get over it, and of they're really your friends they won't let it hurt their feelings, THEY'll understand..... ;-D
  14. Hahaha awesome!! And you're right! They obviously haven't suffered otherwise they'd have never uttered those words, and agreed, child birth doesn't count! I don't care how many times you've done it!
  15. Aww!! This is just awesome! You'll be an amazing roommate, of only we all had roomies like you! I think you'll find that once you both get settled in you'll find a routine that works well for you both food wise. I'm the only one in my family that's Celiac, and we make it work! Good luck to you both!! ?
  16. I'm just going to throw this out there, as embarrassing as it is but here it goes....my ex started out drinking gluten-free beer around me, but when he realized it wasn't a big deal to me he swapped back to regular old gluten-full beer. On more than one occasion, we had eaten gluten-free meals together, that I made so I know they were gluten-free, I had reactions...
  17. This is an interesting poll. If I may say I've enjoyed reading others thoughts. I have to say that I'm torn between keeping a child completely safe and gluten free and letting them eat as they wish and deal with the consequences if there ever are any. At this point in my life I'm not a mom but am an "auntie" (cousin actually, but whatever lol) and I'd do...
  18. This is a great idea! How awesome, And so good of you to pay it forward!
  19. Yay!! So glad I saw this, as I spend most of my summer on the lake with my Canadian family! Looms like Lay's chips and campfires for me once again. ?
  20. Did someone say BROWNIES...yummmm, sooo jealous!! Guess we know what I'm doing tomorrow! Lol making brownies!! ?
  21. Good to know, I cut my run short in fear that I'd pass out lol, I think the next time I'll lay low until I'm feeling a bit better. At the present moment I feel as bad as I did yesterday, hoping I didn't work my system up more than it already was. I honestly thought that if I got myself moving and motivated that I'd feel better, but it seems to have done the...
  22. I got "glutened" over the weekend, have been ill since unfortunately. I attempted a run this evening and feel so sluggish, like I could barely finish. I was shaky, almost as if I had low blood sugar but have eaten plenty of protein, any thoughts? Should I be laying low, I was concerned I might have been pushing it..
  23. Yes I have to agree, I'd rather be glutened than dead. I have to agree, I thought it was a little off the wall, but wondered if I had missed something lol. I'm a medical worker and had never seen this, but hey, you learn something new everyday.
  24. So I've seen a few threads recently about medic alert tattoos, but maybe I'm for being less extreme. Should I wearing a medic alert bracelet? I suppose, I do have a "disease" but if I'm unconscious I would hope to god an emt doesn't attempt to pour something down my throat. Any attempt to feed me when im awake will result in 20 questions from me, but there...
  25. Tattoos are a really amazing art form when done tastefully. The right artist can mean the difference between an amazing piece of art or someone considering you got ink in prison. I have 2 awesome pieces, 1 across my back and the other on the inside of my foot. To look at me you'd never know I had tattoos, putting them places that are not easily picked out...
