ARCHIVED Anyone Here Suffer From Inflammation?
CR5442 replied to AVR1962's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes, the foot can be related. I had sciatica caused by an injury to my ankle. Can you specify exactly where the pain runs? Mine was all the way down the posterior exterior part of the leg, around the outside of the knee and down in to the outside of the foot, right to the middle toes. -
I had awful seizure type migraines on coffee. Gave up coffee before gluten and though I still had migraines on gluten they were completely different. Now I don't feel like I'm forcing myself to run on empty. When tired I rest. Coffee really messes with your endocrine system, cortisol levels etc. I think even after nearly 5 months of not drinking...

ARCHIVED Anyone Here Suffer From Inflammation?
CR5442 replied to AVR1962's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Do you know what is in the herbal remedy you were given? I find Milk Thistle very good for inflammation. It helps the liver process toxins etc. that if left in the system causes inflammation. Milk thistle helps neutralise and convert the toxins in to a form the liver can excrete in bile. Good to hear that your remedy works though. -
ARCHIVED Gallbladder/liver Congestion
CR5442 replied to CR5442's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Bea, that is great that you've been able to reintroduce foods that before you couldn't eat. One thing on the yoghurt is the temperature. Much better to eat it at room temperature (so let it sit for a while outside the fridge) than cold. Cold is not great for the system, particularly one struggling immunity wise. This formula has brought the cold... -
ARCHIVED Gallbladder/liver Congestion
CR5442 replied to CR5442's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Had the liver exam today and luckily there seems to be no swelling, or scarring of the liver so it is a functional problem with blood flow (probably excess hormones/bile/cholesterol and other stuff that is getting too easily back in to the blood stream from the gut). He thought that it might be Familial Meditteranean Fever but we both thought this picture... -
ARCHIVED Sluggish Gallbladder/liver: Herbs And Salicylate/gluten Sensitivity
CR5442 replied to YoloGx's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Bea, very briefly as we are off for lectures very shortly. sorry for missing out Marshmallow root, interestingly we are doing this in class on the digestive system tomorrow... so I will be sure to ask some pointed questions. I think it was left off the list because i didn't see it in the anti-lithics and LC's - so you are right, it is an oddball. It... -
ARCHIVED Sluggish Gallbladder/liver: Herbs And Salicylate/gluten Sensitivity
CR5442 replied to YoloGx's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
One other thing Bea on peppermint and salicylates. Could I ask what your symptoms were? Both digestive, neurologically and physically? I was trying to see if there were compounds in some herbs that weren't in others, particularly bitters. I thought saponins might be one issue as they are gut irritants... however, Peppermint doesn't have these in any great... -
ARCHIVED Sluggish Gallbladder/liver: Herbs And Salicylate/gluten Sensitivity

Hi All, so here are some details on the herbs that Yolo (Bea) mentioned above. All the following are both antilithic (dissolving and preventing the formation of Gallstones) and act on liver congestion: Barberry Root Dandelion Milk Thistle Rosemary Antilithic mainly is: Nettle Liver decongestives are: Oregon Grape Root Goldenseal Most herbs... -
ARCHIVED Sluggish Gallbladder/liver: Herbs And Salicylate/gluten Sensitivity
CR5442 replied to YoloGx's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Bea, by scalloped I mean with teeth marks around the edges. Not necessarily all the teeth marked out but some. That would indicate liver as it does with me. It's totally wierd about the rosemary as it does a lot of similar things to dandelion but isn't as drying. By that I mean I feel dehydrated after taking dandelion... it doesn't sit well with me... -
ARCHIVED Gallbladder/liver Congestion
CR5442 replied to CR5442's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hey Bea. Yes, I saw your post, I'm having the exact same thing. It might have something to do I will thinking with all the bugs/viruses flying around at this time of year. My children are on their fourth cold already! I haven't had a bug yet but I can feel that my body is fighting something... hence the liver congestion I think. It has our normal excess... -

Just another question Yolo. Do you have a scalloped tongue? Just interested because I do. -
ARCHIVED Sluggish Gallbladder/liver: Herbs And Salicylate/gluten Sensitivity
CR5442 replied to YoloGx's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Wow Yolo, Skylark et al. All of the above! Haven't had time to read everything in detail but yes, I am having the gallbladder/liver pain, nausea and digestion issues. So Skylark it may not have anything to do with some random meditteranean liver condition after all! Let's wait and see what the paper says. Yolo, I was wondering about meat. I had a... -
ARCHIVED 8 Months Gluten Free... Now What?
CR5442 replied to josh052980's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If you are taking extra iron that will slow transit time in the bowel, which for a healing gut is not such a great thing. Ideally you want the transit time to be about 12-24 hours max. Perhaps you could take something like ACV to keep things moving, just a tablespoon a day should do if you're not sensitive. Totally identify with the difficulty in balancing... -
Here's a link showing all the tests in the UK done automatically for pregnant mothers. Open Original Shared Link As i said I have had digestive problems since I was 2.5 in hospital with malnutrition (may have been attributable at that point to gluten intolerance) and liver pains (much more vague earlier on) for as long as I can remember since beginning...

Skylark, had a quick look at this condition and i'm certain this is not what we have in our family. There is def. something inherited though as my Dad and I have the same symptoms even on completely different diets. He said something about meditteranean people... ring any bells?
-
Here in the UK it is obligatory to have Hep B/C, HIV and other serious disorder tests when pregnant. I have none of these from both my tests and have had liver pain since I was a teen. There is no pathology on my liver at all. All the bloods are normal... which is why this is all so odd. My lecturer is looking out the paper on the disorder for me for...

I suppose where you wouldn't notice or feel your liver at all, with liver congestion (or basically where it is struggling from excess toxins or inability to process them) the liver can swell or become inflammed slightly, as can the gallbladder. You notice the position of the liver more in this circumstance and sometimes that will lead to discomfort and distention...

Yes, I heard that in another post you made. I can really understand your reticence! I had a particularly useless Nutritionist who never explained anything to me and just went, oh that's odd, when I told her about the itching during my first pregnancy. I feel much safer with the Uni clinic as it has the best reputation in the country (UK) and also we are...

Hi Ravenwoodglass. Yes, my Dad has had the lumbar puncture and is classic MS. Luckily not in a wheelchair. There is always the potential for other conditions that complicate Celiac though and I think it is always important to have an open mind. I have been on the diet for nearly four months and whilst there are some improvements with some things, other...

Hi there, thanks for your thoughts! I have to say that I'm pretty sure that my herbal guy... I'm studying Herbalism too under him at the same uni, is more on the mark than anyone else has ever been. My Dad has the same symptoms and so does my daughter and they are not classic Celiac. The itching and liver pain only some people experience, as with cholestasis...

Well, yesterday, at the University Herbal Clinic I went for my own consultation with a third year student and the top lecturer, who is basically one of the best herbalists in the county. I told them about the major gluten intolerance, and a whole history but also about my coconut oil intolerance. The senior Lecturer started nodding knowingly... Anyway...

ARCHIVED Emotional Scars From Celiac
CR5442 replied to sandsurfgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This is such a great thread, from the perspective of accepting that we have an immensely powerful spiritual side to us as human beings. What a great gift we have in realising that we are not alone in these times of strife, healing, pain and emotional turmoil. Those of us who have partners and spouses who have stuck by us in our sickness are blessed, though... -
ARCHIVED Emotional Scars From Celiac
CR5442 replied to sandsurfgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sandsurfgirl, I totally identify with your breathing issues. I had what the docs said was asthma though it wasn't true asthma. I would wake in the night with a neuropathic shake because my lungs weren't cleaning properly and there was inadequate Co2 exchange with o2. Really scarey at times as I had it with both of my pregnancies too. Even now, with no... -
ARCHIVED Help,,,, About Being Glutened?
CR5442 replied to TTNOGluten's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi there. I would definitely take the advise of the other posters about kicking all processed foods, kicking dairy too and as Mushroom suggested taking some L-Glutamine. I really notice the difference when I don't take it! Also look at decongesting your liver - the lump in the throat is a dead-ringer for liver congestion. Talk to your doctor about... -
ARCHIVED Vision Issue, What Is This?
CR5442 replied to AVR1962's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I know what you mean! My dietician said 'well, itching isn't normal', and I said 'yes, I know' hoping that she would have some sort of idea... but no! My herbal lecturers are brilliant though, it's like they are completely tuned in to the whole person. I've been asked to be a patient as they think I'm unusual - a good learning patient... though probably...
