ARCHIVED Will Nutrients Still Get To My Baby If My Body Doesn't Absorb Nutrients Properly?
faithforlife replied to AsburySinger's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I agree. Folic acid is very important the first few weeks after conception. I routinely check my blood levels with the routine labs recommended for women to check for any red flags. -

I've heard that paper plates some kinds can have gluten but we use them with no issues. -

ARCHIVED Which Dr. Did You Get To Test Your Other Children?
faithforlife replied to Polly's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
We tested our baby at least to find her genetics-then well always know. I had the run around too. What I did was got it in writing from pediatrician for our insurance, then I took one of our other four kids who showed symptoms to the GI for an appointment and just thanked him up and down for diagnosing my other son and then asked him verbally and in writing... -

ARCHIVED Exclusive Breastfeeding For 12 Months?
faithforlife replied to allinyourhead's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Yeah my midwives always encourage nursing and they say some babies dont need solids till as late as 18 months. I just start when they start reaching for it! Plus I believe u get exposed to some degree to allergens through the milk. That's why if doctors discover for example a milk intolerance in the baby they try a milk free diet for Mom. -
ARCHIVED Well, We Got Our Prometheus Results...
faithforlife replied to Sesara's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My Fam has same genetics-moderate, high, and very high risk genes. The 2 high risks DQ2 have celiac but doc says we should all be gluten-free. Doc also said with little ones it's hard to get a complete diagnosis but the signs can be the beginning of celiac, but could take a long time to be full blown! So, to me it sounds like that's where y'all are-and it... -
ARCHIVED My Dq8 Toddler's Diet
faithforlife replied to faithforlife's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Diana that's how the doctor felt. He said teach her now the rigidness so she'll truly learn it. Plus her kids when she's grown could get celiac and then shed already know the diet. I'm not sure why I've just started questioning if I'm creating a gluten sensitivity unnecessarily. But your input is helpful! We're expecting # 6 and what u say is very true! -

ARCHIVED My Dq8 Toddler's Diet
faithforlife posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My toddlers genetic testing came back at moderate risk DQ8 gene-no antibodies to gluten. My son and I are DQ2 high risk diagnosed celiacs. The pediatric GI recommended a gluten-free diet for her but were wondering if it's necessary, if it would cause her to become gluten sensitive unnecessarily. We are gluten-free in the home, but it would be out and about... -

ARCHIVED 34 Weeks And "mildly Positive"
faithforlife replied to mommy2be's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I'm expecting #6 but have only recently been diagnosed but have been celiac for years. I had never heard of gluten with other 5 pregnancies. They all went well and they all nursed. It's difficult to learn how to nurse-you need support from others who have done it. And you need lots of rest and relaxation. And you don't need someone telling you that you can... -
ARCHIVED Going On 19 Weeks And Struggling
faithforlife replied to Kmclean's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I imagine Gluten as rat poison. I have had way worst cravings while pregnant-especially for Restaraunt foods! It's hard being hungry. My midwife advised eating often-snacking lots on filling things. I eat creamy cold Greek yogurt, nuts, avacado, gluten-free pasta and meat sauce, eggs, cold shrimp, I bake my own breads, hearty meaty breakfasts, milk, juicy... -
ARCHIVED 11Wks Along And Feeling Terrible
faithforlife replied to faithforlife's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Here I am at 15 wks and sure enough I feel a lot better but not quite normal. Nausea is less. Fatigue is still pretty bad. And I still have the fuzzy brain sensation but all symptoms are not AS bad. -
ARCHIVED 11Wks Along And Feeling Terrible
faithforlife replied to faithforlife's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
We did bloodwork and thankfully my blood sugar and iron were good. I think I will stop the iron supplement. I've read that having too much iron can make u feel similar to being anemic. Doctor -(Midwife) thinks I'm just under a lot of stress and need to take time to rest more. She's probably right. I was relieved to see my vitamin levels good! -
Im in same boat. I've totally gained on gluten-free diet and don't feel energetic or satisfied from eating. I'm looking out for a diet that will work for me.

ARCHIVED Celiac Symptoms At 2 Weeks Old?
faithforlife replied to Jen2's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My son too had symptoms since birth. He was born in a mess of meconium and had diarrhea until he was finally diagnosed 4years later. He was also a colicky baby and had gerds. He also didn't talk much till gluten-free. -
ARCHIVED How Does Celiac Affect Pregnancy?
faithforlife replied to Motherbird7's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
We did the Promethius Celiac Plus test which tells exactly what gene they carry and their risk level. So 3 ofus were only moderate risk, 3 of us were high risk (2 of which had the positive antibodies and positive endo) and one of us is very high risk -no positive antibodies but symptomatic and improved on diet. Doc told me its harder to get a positive antibody... -
ARCHIVED How Does Celiac Affect Pregnancy?
faithforlife replied to Motherbird7's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Sounds like you have a wonderful family! I would be wondering the same things. I have read that pregnancy can bring on celiac just because it is hard on your body ( but totally worth it). I too have had 5 healthy babies all natural and am expecting my 6th, but now I know I'm celiac and am gluten free ( over a year now) but I have felt way worse than with... -
This is my 6th child. I'm just feeling a lot worse than I remember feeling with my other 5 pregnancies. Ive always had very healthy pregnancy and deliveries, but have usually been anemic. Im taking my vitamin and iron supplement. I feel weak and constantly fatigued and never satisfied when I eat- in fact I feel badly (light headed, weak, fatigued) after eating...

ARCHIVED Good News
faithforlife replied to Benshell's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I can really relate! My pedi GI doc told me what our next year would look like in the first five minutes of meeting him. I'd never heard of celiac. And he was right! I think it's great that you have her calling the food companies! I'm going to start that. I do make them read labels. -
ARCHIVED Confused About Endoscopy Results
faithforlife replied to jenn42's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I never thought I had symptoms either till I went gluten-free and felt a fog lift and way more energy. I thought the fatigue was just normal. My biopsy showed no flat villi but endo showed scalloping to the naked eye which could only come from years of being celiac. My blood was positive on all counts! Doc said you won't see scalloping in a young child usually...
