  1. I just got dosed by CC last night, and am off work today. Nausea, massive headache, D last night though thank God not today. Sore, joint pain. Fun times had by all.
  2. We are going to show people that the way things are is not the way they have to be. #generodenberry

  3. Got a UTI. =( Granted, it was my own damn fault for having sex for like an hour and a half straight last night.

  5. Hehehe- I KNEW spock wasn't a virgin in #ThisSideofParadise. #Spock is such a lying liar who lies. #sneaky

  7. I figure just like you don't need a doctor's prescription for gluten free, you don't need a prescription for iron supplements. Everything I've read lately by *knowledgeable* specialists (read: hematologists) is that anything below 40 can cause serious side effects. 70is better, and 100 is ideal. Hair loss, extreme fatigue, dizziness, shortness of breath....
  8. It usually adds up over time. In my iron deficiency, it wasn't unmasked until I went gluten free and I felt better but not well, after my gluten detox. My anxiety was through the roof my first week, which wore off. But my iron deficiency showed up two or three months later when i was still sleeping like I was in a coma, 10-12 hrs per day.
  9. You might be iron deficient. Do you have severe fatigue? Sleeping a lot? Ask for hemoglobin, hematocrit, and a full iron panel, plus CBC. Post your numbers and let us know!
  10. I believe untreated celiac causes an inflammatory cascade, that can inflame the joints and cause damage. In my own case, I've recently been dealing with inflammation of the hip, specifically the bursa. I also have osteoarthritis of the spine, and possible very early stages of degenerative disc disease. Both of which had a familial history anyway, but when...
  11. Yes. In gluten ataxia, antibodies are attacking and destroying Purkinje cells, which are responsible for perception of space and your position in it. Celiac has also been known To cause severe MS like and RA like symtpto S, the damage of which is so similar to the real thing, they are Often clinically indistinguishable.
  12. I took it upon myself to do some at home glucose measurements, because I've had a candida infection that is basically unresponsive to treatment. The doctor has never looked for underlying causes-- the rheumatologist seemed to think I should bloody SUE for malpractice over this. Anyway, my fasting blood sugar has pretty reliably come up at 93-95. This...

  14. It sounds like you've made up your mind already. You'll probably take him gluten free if his blood tests and/ or his endoscopy are positive, and you won't if his blood tests are negative. It sounds like you're hesitant to put him through a challenge. I...have no idea how a challenge would go on a non-celiac individual, since I was definitely celiac when I...
  15. You know that simpsons episode where sideshow bob is stepping on a bunch of rakes and grumbling? That's me today. Pissed off/ thwarted.

  16. I think many of us are so happy to be feeling drastically better, losing out on gluten has not felt limiting, but freeing. That said, I saw enormous immediate benefits from going on the diet and have immediate dire consequences if I go off. It would be much more difficult if I was a silent celiac, or had refractory sprue. My health has finally started improving...
  17. Wow, such a useful discussion. Another piece of the puzzle. I can't figure out why I want to sleep 12 hours a day. I'm guessing 18 for ferritin is bad. And that was measured *before* my acute celiac really set in. Thanks guys!
  18. That's good to know that I should be keeping an eye on it. Maybe I'll get my PCP to throw in an ANA and RF next spring just for giggles.
  19. Yeah, the bursitis hurt quite a bit. I finally gave in and got the cortisone shot in my hip. I realize this is just a mask and the inflammation can come back, but I couldn't sleep and I couldn't work! Doctors might suck, and ordinarily I prefer natural, but meds are okay when the situation calls for it. The hypermobility clusters with celiac (which I...
  20. Yeah, that's what I thought. I just wanted to confirm my suspicions with someone else.
  21. That was an old panel, run before I knew what to ask for. Next time, I'm going to ask for the full panel plus TPO.
  22. So I got a diagnosis of bursitis of the hip yesterday, as well as mild hypermobility. My question is, how did the doctor rule out RA if she didn't run any blood tests for at least ANA's when bursitis is a symptom of RA? Honest question here. Full disclosure, I have a heavily physical job so it can easily be an Overuse injury unrelated to celiac. She seemed...
  23. I will continue to rail against our stupid and backwards medical system. That said, cortisone shots for crap joints are the best thing ever.

  24. I'm a 27 year old female. My TSH last spring was 0.9 on a scale of 0-4. Is this normal, abnormal, and how do I interpret it? I didn't have a full thyroid panel run.
