ARCHIVED I Feel So, So Sick :(
Twinklestars replied to Twinklestars's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It is hard. Especially when you have to be conscious of so many things! I imagine over time it will become almost second nature though I am paying for my glutening this morning with really bad joint pain, nausea and stomach trouble -
ARCHIVED 2 Weeks Since My Celiac Diagnosis
Twinklestars replied to jerseygirl221's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks I'm not yet diagnosed though. I'm waiting for blood test results at the moment, and am undecided about going back on gluten for any further testing. Little steps! -

Twinklestars replied to Twinklestars's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Cougie your posts always make me smile! surfer, I don't seem to have a problem with nightshades at this point, but it's something I'll be watchful of as I go along. -
ARCHIVED 8 Year Old Sneaking Food With Gluten In It!
Twinklestars replied to happygfmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have no experience at all with your situation I'm sorry. It sounds really tough It's hard with kids, they think they're invincible, and often they haven't experienced the long term suffering that many Celiacs do before they're diagnosed as adults. Even adults have trouble sticking to a gluten free diet...and sneak food too! I think making your whole... -
ARCHIVED How Long To Persist With gluten-free Trial?
Twinklestars replied to simon70's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hello! I'm glad you're seeing improvements on a gluten-free diet, that's a very good thing I just thought I'd add in that I've heard a reaction from being glutened once you're on a gluten free diet can be more severe than what you may have been experiencing beforehand. So a decision to 'test' whether you have an intolerance via your diet is yours. But... -
ARCHIVED Hi My Name Is Gina........
Twinklestars replied to jerseygirl221's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hi Gina! Congratulations on your diagnosis. I'm new to the forum too. I'm not yet diagnosed, but am in the process. Regardless of my results, I'll be sticking around because I can't imagine living like this for any longer. I'm a Mum too, I have 4 children Looking forward to seeing you around! -
ARCHIVED I Feel So, So Sick :(
Twinklestars replied to Twinklestars's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yum Cougie! I might just do that with some apples tonight for supper In other news, I think I've glutened myself It really annoys me too, because I ended up making a big pot of yummy chicken and vegetable soup tonight - nice and gluten free. Then I made tuna mornay for hubby and the kids. Did I use gluten-free flour for the sauce? No! I didn't even... -
ARCHIVED Cant Function Safely After Glutening
Twinklestars replied to Kquad's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Wow. I'm glad you finally have some answers, although the answers are a little scary. It will be a great day when doctors listen in the first place. -
ARCHIVED New. Ow To Gain Weight?
Twinklestars replied to Jill2011's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I'm one of those who feels full and I'm never really hungry since going gluten free. When I was on gluten I was hungry all the time. It's so weird. I'm not underweight, but I recently lost a lot of weight and if I lose too much more I will be underweight, so I'm also trying to maximize calories - unsuccessfully, lol! It's very hard when you're gluten and... -
ARCHIVED I Feel So, So Sick :(
Twinklestars replied to Twinklestars's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have never even seen hemp milk! I might have to google that one to see if we get it here Cougie, gluten in tea bags? Seriously? Good grief! I am also googling almond breeze to see whether I can get it here too. Everyone on this forum seems to think it's great! Thankyou for the suggestions, they're very much appreciated. -
ARCHIVED Flattened Villi
Twinklestars replied to Jessica N.'s topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I would think you should be positively diagnosed as celiac with those results. Maybe if your doctor isn't willing to diagnose you (no idea why not though) get copies of all test and lab reports and keep them as your proof. And go gluten free for sure! -
ARCHIVED I Feel So, So Sick :(
Twinklestars replied to Twinklestars's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks Raven I'm not sure whether it has oats, so will check that out. Cougie, that sounds really yummy! I think it might be my dinner tonight! I have ditched dairy altogether now. My stomach is still cramping up a bit so I think I'll strip my diet down to just a few foods for the time being. So I'm sitting here with rice milk in my coffee. It... -
ARCHIVED Deep Sleep Since Going Gluten Free
Twinklestars replied to katinagj's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
This is happening to me too. I have had terrible sleep for ages, and since being gluten free (only 5 days so far) I've been sleeping so deeply. I have two little ones who still wake occasionally at night, and I have to drag myself awake to get up to them. I've also always been someone who wakes early, but it now feels like I could sleep for hours longer.... -
ARCHIVED Help With Pathology Reports?
Twinklestars replied to millersinkenya's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am relatively new to all this, but the report clearly states there is some blunting of villi and also says his results are suggestive of celiac disease. I would think it would make sense given his age, that his villi are not going to be dramatically damaged at this stage. But the fact there is some damage there suggests a positive celiac diagnosis and he... -
ARCHIVED To Challenge .... Or Not To Challenge?
Twinklestars replied to w919oct's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'm also a mother and I would not put my child through a gluten challenge if they exhibited symptoms like your sons. No way. I have an 8 year old daughter and I'll be getting her tested soon. She isn't as sick as your son though and at least I know enough about celiac now from my own experience not to take her off gluten until she's done with testing. But... -
ARCHIVED Why 3 Weeks Dizzy After Gluten?
Twinklestars replied to AVR1962's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I also want to say thanks to you Bea Your posts are teaching me a lot, and I'm so grateful for the wealth of knowledge I've found here. And Bea, did I read your sig right? You were diagnosed celiac as an infant but were never told? All that suffering for nothing. That is so incredibly sad -
ARCHIVED 2 Weeks Since My Celiac Diagnosis
Twinklestars replied to jerseygirl221's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hello, congratulations on your diagnosis! You are a confirmed celiac, so you WILL get better with a gluten free diet. I've been gluten free for 5 days now, and my nausea has just subsided. It may come back, I don't know, but up until this morning I was feeling pretty awful. My stomach rumbles and gurgles too. Especially after I eat!! I have that bloated... -
ARCHIVED I Feel So, So Sick :(
Twinklestars replied to Twinklestars's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks for your responses Cougie I'm in Australia, and we don't have Almond Breeze and Chex here (I don't think). But we do have other brands of almond milk, so I'll give it a try. I found a gluten free muesli which I bought, but I'm not really hungry so I'm trying to just stick to plain foods at the moment. I just roasted (baked) a sweet potato (yam?... -

ARCHIVED I Feel So, So Sick :(
Twinklestars replied to Twinklestars's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes. The food diary It will be starting from breakfast tomorrow. I haven't fully explained to my husband about cross contamination etc. I was going to wait and see what my test results are. I probably should chat to him sooner though. He knows I have to be gluten free but probably doesn't know exactly what it involves. I'm still figuring it out! He... -
ARCHIVED I Feel So, So Sick :(
Twinklestars replied to Twinklestars's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well, it's official. I am an idiot. I may have just 'a little bit' of milk in my coffee, but I also have been eating HALF A BLOCK OF CHOCOLATE EVERY NIGHT! Because, you know, it's gluten free! Geez, you'd never think I was completely dairy free for a year and a half, would you? So that's likely to be my problem then. And yep, I also think cross contamination... -
ARCHIVED It Has To Be Celiac.
Twinklestars replied to Twinklestars's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hello GTI Yes, I'm on a gluten free diet now. It's been 4 days so far. I'm not feeling any better yet, but I'm hoping it improves. The tiredness/fog is really weird, isn't it? Sometimes I'll be talking in a group of people and by the time I think about what I'm going to say everyone has moved on and the conversation is about something different. So frustrating... -
ARCHIVED I Feel So, So Sick :(
Twinklestars replied to Twinklestars's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
No...but I only have a little bit of my milk in my one cup of coffee in the morning and that's it for dairy. Do I have to give that up? Could I still have lactose free milk? Or is it the cows milk protein I could be reacting to? -
I quite happily sailed into a gluten free diet 4 days ago thinking if it would make me better then anything is better than being sick! I think I've been doing okay with it. I've been eating mainly whole foods with lots of fruit and veg. I'm keeping things very plain which I've heard is a good thing. So why do I now feel worse than before? I'm having extreme...

ARCHIVED My Story!
Twinklestars replied to Jessica N.'s topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Jessica I'm very new to all this as well. The description of your pains sounds all too familiar. I'm still at the blood testing stage, so am not 100% sure, but I thought flattened villi meant celiac??? In any case, I'd definitely take that result combined with a positive blood test and say it's celiac. I really think you'd do much better gluten free....
