  1. I bought some KR Castlemaine bacon today, and I was very excited to see the crossed out wheat symbol, lol! I haven't heard back from Don yet (if I ever do), but I was definitely glutened from something to do with the ham, whether it was the ham itself or cross contamination. I am badly constipated tonight now. Seriously, where else could I say that...
  2. I was so depressed at breakfast time today because I really felt like toast So I had a big spoonful of peanut butter and a cup of coffee. I have some gluten free muesli but it doesn't taste like muesli so I don't really want to eat it. I'm not used to how gluten free foods taste yet.
  3. I didn't even think about that, thanks kareng! Yes, they would be slicing it with meats that contain gluten. That teaches me, doesn't it! No more sliced deli meat for me! I'll buy it pre packaged instead.
  4. I also get bad pain in my rib cage. A doctor once diagnosed me with a fracture because the pain was so bad (and he didn't do an xray). I had been doing some pretty physical stuff and my pain was severe and very real so I think he just assumed. When I accidentally glutened myself last week one of the first things that happened was sharp pain in my rib cage...
  5. I would email or ring the company and find out whether there is actually gluten in it or whether it's a cross contamination risk as well. Even gluten you don't react to can be damaging for a celiac. I wouldn't eat it if they actually put gluten in it. I hope it really is gluten free for you!!
  6. I'm so sorry you went through all that It's insane for the doctor to give you meds with gluten! I will definitely be remembering your experience should I need to go to hospital and will be spelling out the obvious to everyone. I'm so glad you're home and aren't being poisoned anymore xxx
  7. I'm still debating this exact same thing! But in my case I think it's because I on't have a positive diagnosis yet, so I haven't taken that mental leap that this gluten free thing is permanent. But for you, because you have evidence of flattened villi I would definitely get your own cookware, have designated shelves and bench space for gluten and non gluten...
  8. At least you know you're on the right track Are you having much gluten free processed food? If you are, it's possible your body doesn't really like it and it could be why you don't feel great after 3 months gluten free. Or it may just take time.
  9. A reaction to gluten depends on the individual. I notice a reaction as soon as a couple of minutes of being exposed but can still feel the effects of the glutening a couple of days later. I'm newly gluten free though, so I've got no idea if I'm continually glutening myself without realizing, I'm still learning about it all. Your son's reaction seems fairly...
  10. It's amazing the things gluten can be in! Before finding this forum I would never have thought of gluten in medication, or teabags for that matter! You can always speak to a pharmacist I guess or email the manufacturer to find out about meds.
  11. Cheers Wombat I think I'll avoid Don as well. Something didn't agree with me!
  12. It's a weird question to ask, isn't it? I'm hoping to get an email back from them tomorrow answering my question. Thanks so much for taking the time to try and answer for me though!
  13. It's been about 10 days for me now. I'm feeling good Well, apart from accidentally glutening myself a couple of times I figure it can only get better, but yes, much happier that I'm feeling well!
  14. Make sure you ask them to take 8-11 biopsies to maximize your chances of a diagnosis. It's possible to miss the affected areas with only a couple of samples taken. I'm glad you're going for further testing and are being taken seriously. Eat at least 4 slices of bread (or the equivalent gluten laden food) to keep your gluten levels up in the meantime.
  15. Thanks desert rose This wasn't Ham off the bone. It was boneless leg ham. Not sure if there's a difference? It wasn't shaved off the bone.
  16. But he has to work till noon...I'm going back to bed!!!

  19. I'm curious to know too. I get cold easily. I live in the tropics and a coolish morning here (19 degrees Celsius) will have me rugging up in warm clothes. I visited Mum recently in early winter and was so cold I shook. I've always felt the cold easily, even before I lived in the heat!
  20. That's great they got back to you so quickly! Welcome to the world of gluten free
  21. Do you have an organic store near you? Or one that delivers? Perhaps you're not reacting to the actual food, but rather the pesticides and chemicals they're sprayed with. I have read that potato farmers grow their own crop of potatoes for themselves - SEPARATE from the ones they grow commercially. And that's due to the chemicals they use. I buy at least my...
  22. I am totally supportive of fundraising. I think it's important for kids to realise that things have to be paid for somehow and I think it's important for a community to be supportive of it's local school and community groups. Like Raven said, my objection comes from holding kids to ransom and withholding special events or treats because they don't 'meet...
  23. I agree with Raven. Perhaps strip your diet down to the bare minimum, like a new celiac. Rice, fruit, veg and meat for a couple of months. Then add in dairy, soy etc one at a time. Something is preventing you from healing. Also, have you considered asking your doctor to run the blood tests again? Even though there is still damage in your intestines, the...
  24. Thanks Good to know about the Primo products! I'm doubtful about the Don ham at the moment. I had it for lunch, not even thinking whether ham was gluten free (you'd think it was okay!) and now my tummy is very bloated and painful and I feel a bit shaky. I've emailed the company and asked, so I'll post back here when I get a response!
  25. My brain fog feels pretty much like elonwy explained on the first page. I often feel like I'm operating in a bubble at a slower pace than everyone outside it. It's so weird.
