  1. Depends completely on the lab, but the lab my doc uses takes about a week to get back. The lab my son's GI doc used, only took 3 days. Dunno if that helps, or not. If i was you I would just call and ask, better then sitting around wondering
  2. Decaf has liek 4mg of cafine, you get more from a hersey's bar. I might learn to like decaf...ugh!

  6. In my epxerence pediatric GI's are very gun shy about calling it celiac disease. My son was 18mos old when he got his bisopy done. Let me say this, IMO, if you see postive results from the diet, ingore the testing. That aside, typicaly in adults a postive biopsy is considered teh "gold standard" in America to dx celiac disease. So if your child...
  7. I was in a bad car accident in 1994, and somehow along the way I acquired all the actual films and radiologists reports from it. You know, the CAT scans and X-rays, etc. I finally got around to showing them to my doc, well faxed them over this am, and they called back 2 hours later and have me scheduled for a bone scan tomorrow at 3:45pm. Before getting the...
  8. How old is the child? In real small childern the tests do not seem to a be all that realiable. The Bispoy needs a signifgnat amount of damage be done before it has a good chance to succed in finding celiac disease, and litle ones normaly will not have that much damage built up thats to there extremly awsome healing powers. Simular issue with the blood test...
  9. I can. There are 2 reasons I see for this.. 1) To eliminate the "what if its something else" nagging concern. Which COULD be real, and serius, or all in ones head. No way to know. 2) To get proper insurance coverage. For example without an "offical" dx of celiac disease, my ins company will not pay for the vitman screenings, the bone screenings...
  10. Latly when I see heavey gluten foods on tv or in store, my stomache hurst! LOL I know Im just wierdo, but any others just as wierd?

  12. My mom finaly wants to get tested, but she is asking what blood tests to ask for. Can some one tell me what to tell here to tell her doctor???
  13. Wow, umm call it 2 years since onset of Anemia that started it, each year maxed out my "out fo pocket maxium" for my isurance... soo umm $2500 per year, that includes my son's testing/etc too though. Time? Gosh unmeasureable! Sorry, but dont have anything more exact then that. My doc was very supportive through out it, and sent me to two different GI...
  14. Doc called me this AM. We reivewed my case completely, including the all the silly tests, and she siad its offical, I have celiac disease. Now she wants to do a bone screening so that they have on record to monitor since Osteroprosis is a big concern in her opinion. I have some bone fractures in my back that she was a bit upset that I did not tell here...
  15. I'll drop you a pm in a few, my primary care doc whose located in Hermitage TN (out of Sumit Hospital) seems good!
  16. Its very hard to get 100% gluten-free for full grown adults (or so ppl seem to think I am..) never mind childern. My son is teething (still, the last 4 molars) so EVERYTHING goes in his mouth. Its a nightmare chasing him around sometime LOL. Good luck and ask lots o questions here. I can not post as often/mcuh as many do here, but fortunitly many of...
  17. I just worry, cuase i have a tendecny to sound very authoritative, and I do not want anyone mistaking my traingin (in computers and statistics) for a Doctor. If it was me, and it was back when my son was 18months old, once you got the dx via diet, I woudl never putmy child back on gluten. The links to scary stuff like Autism and Cancer is...
  18. IMO, Yes, thats conclusive. Far more so then the so-called tests that exist. But I am not a doctor, and you should keep that in mind when reading posts here...
  19. Man you ppl want to strike back with such venom. Lets not forget when everything is said and done, this is HER MOTHER not some random ladi in the deli. My suggestion is be better prepiared with "Sure we can eat at Chickfila cause I have their gluten free menu here in my purse/pocket/head". And let it go. I would also work on educating her. It...
  20. My understanding is that you are born with it but depending on you as a person it does different levels of damage.. and that the normal hormonal swings that you go through from say 12 to say early 20's is very effective in masking it. In cases where that happens, I think no one 'gets it" till they did enough damage to impact them enough to see a doctor....
  21. Theres way to much risk of CC in a deli, unless they are CC awere/senstive. I just stick with Oscar Myer. All thier products will be clearly noted in thier ingredinets if there is any gluten in them.
  22. I guess my reply was lost when the site crashed. tarnalberry: I knew what you ment, i was just making a comment onthe aprrent sensless ness of them doing it. Bron: Intresting not considered that angle, could be somthing to it. Personaly I prefer to start with with raw fresh potateos, cut them, leave skin on, and frit at 450 for like...

  25. I dunno, that could start a bad cycle of building anger. I would recomend caution if you follow that path.
