  1. I think our disagreement is a subject of poor wording on my part. When I said "blood test" I meant the full panal of all tests that comprise a complete blood test. And this is at the heart of my issue with the current test methods, you can not get a reliable answer until your possibly beyond the point of a full and complete recovery if you...
  2. (bolding mine) First of, that comment right there shows he is not very knowledgeable about Celiac. Most respectable doctors will take at least FIVE samples from the key sections at the beginning of the intestine. The biopsy, biased on it medical definition, can never be negative. So there again he shows a lack of knowledge about the test procedure. Since...
  3. RE: Dips... he wont try the Kraft BQ sauce even though he says "Smells good" He sometimes will ask for ketchup, but lately only for fries we bake in the oven. He is usually not even interested in other peoples food. Which is a good thing but it seems odd to me. I probably just worry to much, but he hs our only child so not like we have decades of...
  4. Trix is gluten-free again? Talk about a company that can not make up their mind. It was not gluten-free for a while, then it was, then they added wheat starch back in (one of the last ingredients on the list),and now your saying its gluten-free again? What about its burnt cousin, cocoa puffs? As for the orginal questions... Cocoa Pebbles and Panda Puffs...
  5. I have made tons of bread from what seems like thousands of "flours", and after a while you go nuts trying to keep up with them all I eventually "invented" potateo based read that was pretty good.. but had like 50,000,000 ingredients to keep on hand. So recently I just order a mix called "Bread From Anna", and made it in my bread machine according...
  6. Well I do not know how accurate the heart rate monitors are on these elliptical machines, but assuming they are... I did 30 mins at level 11 and that kept my hr over 170. Unlike the last time I used them, this time I REALLY felt like I worked out! LOL. Actually almost caused a hypo-crash. (I always keep fruit juice in my locker... good thing!). I see...
  7. As some of you know, so far my son is the only one of us that has any reaction to gluten. We do how ever try to keep our house gluten free. Well our son is doing great on the diet and it definitely saved his life. The turn around is with out question. ut we have noticed a strange behavior with him, that just might be normal for a typical three and a...
  8. Heck with that, I just made a batch of Bread form Anna in my bread machine (Oster Express Bake) and I will happily admit to being lazy Besides the bread always seems to come out better from the bread maker....
  9. Hmm 220-32 = 188 * .75 = 141 so I need to push just a little harder then.
  10. Oh, I did check it with the machines monitor thingy where you grab two handles and hold on for like 30 seconds and it displays and EKG thingy and then I said and a few more times and it then read out 132 most of the time, but at one point it read 154. Is that good?
  11. No I would love to, but not seen any cheap ones!
  12. Welp. I dunno what any of these number mean? But I did 30 mins (max the timer goes up to) at "Level 7" which was "6.6 bike miles" but felt I did not really push as hard as I should have so I did 15 mins at "level 11" which was "3.7 bike miles". I kept my "speed" around 65 RPM's which was a comfortable place I did not have to concentrate to maintain. My...
  13. I believe its the same "injury" that I faced in my track/x-country days. There is tow muscle (or groups..) that control the movement of your leg, and one is a "tiny" one that controls the very last little movement from just about fully straight, to fully straight. Prbly has some fancy name like Libolataearliasfhuiasey-minor. Well what happened at that time...
  14. OKay so I hurt my knee yesterday pushing to hard on the treadmill. I am trying to move into a new work out pattern where I do heavy cardio M/W/F, do weights on Tu/Th, and load up on candy on Sat/Sun (LOL! Joking...) Well now that i have a gym membership where I work, I have access to all kinds of equipment that was never an option before. Including...
  15. couple thoughts... First.. only a month off the gluten, you might still get a positive blood test. So it does not hurt... well not much to try. Second... skip the biopsy. Bisopy can never rule out celiac disease, only confirm a dx, so, IMO its not a real useful test and it is not with out its risks. Third... You eat gluten, you get sick....
  16. GUESS WHAT!!! GREAT NEWS!!! I BOUGHT SOME RUNNING SNEAKERS!! LOL Found a pair of 9 1/2 - 4E Reebok Cross Trainers. A bit narrow, a 5E would be better, but I think they will stretch. For $29.99 I was willing to risk it. Prbly can run twice as fast now LOL
  17. Who are you telling this to? Your former employer or your future? If its your former employer, you do not have to give them a reason. Ppl, esply woman, tend to tell way to much. Just say something like "I no long wish to work here" or "I no longer feel that this company and I are a good fit". If you have a job offer already, you can just asy "I was...
  18. I do not regret it at all. I am in a MUCH better place to work, with much better people. The pay is less, but the future is much brighter here. One thing I will be getting out of this jog is my Masters of Divinity, for free. I am just gonna have to go slow, like 1 or 2 classes a semester. This move has stretched us in ways I would have have guess, but it...
  19. A lot has happened since my vacation from this forum so to cut back on all the emailed questions I am going to post a summary. So much in fact it is hard to guess where to start... lets first update on our son... He is doing MARVELOUS! He continues to thrive on his gluten-free diet, and now that we can do some limited egg's he has had a huge new...
  20. Thanks all will check them all out! Its around 90 miles to the nearest major city , wonder if I can fetch a train ride....
  21. My son definitely had a behavioral reaction. He got much harder to control when he last was exposed that we know of. Personally I would guess its related to the "brain fog" symptoms that adults complain about.
  22. 18 months old and dieing. Spitting up blood, shrinking, big belly, 5-7 diaper fulls of highly acidic diarrhea a day, etc. We tested for everything else till we learned about celiac disease. He had symptoms from a week after birth, but the went in to remission for a few months which delayed dx'ing/ Since going gluten-free he has rebounded and is now a very...
  23. Since I now live in a tiny town (3,400 population) and there are no gluten-free specialty foods (cookies, bread, etc) here for my son (not fiar to raise a 3year old with out cookies! sheesh!) I was wonder what seems to be the best online stores for a good variety of junk? Something with good shipping poilycs would be perfered. I plan to poke around...
  24. Thanks Lovegrov, Kroger does, but the selection in TN was better then here for some reason. I guess I will have to find a good online store.
