ARCHIVED New Product - Expandex
VydorScope replied to debmidge's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
They do not, I did email them and ask. But I am not really all that concerned. We modify EVERYTHING we eat in some way, unless of couse you pulled that fish out the water and took a big bite out of it while it was still squirming -
ARCHIVED Where To Get Coconut Flour?
VydorScope posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It looks like a great thing to try, even found some recipes for cakes/etc made with it. Amazon carries it for around $11/2 pounds. Any one know a cheaper place? -

Yep, I gave up on store bought frostings completely. Frosting is easy enough to make so not a huge deal... just annoying. -

Get to a doctor, get tested. Those high spikes are worrisome. And you will need to get on the same high fat/high protein/low carb diet we been talking about in this thread to control it. -

Umm if you really got a 185, then I take everything I said back. Get to a doctor and tested for diabeties and hypoglycemia ASAP. 185 is a big red flag. Bring your readings with you. -

Goergie... does not matter what label you put on it, you treat it the same way. Its just like the silly debate over "gluten intolerance" vs "celiac disease", in both cases you need 100% gluten-free diet. Same applies here. Call it what ever you prefer, its handled the same way, the way you ALREADY know works because you used to do it. -

Stick with it, even IF you eventually do need meeds you will need less of them then if you did not control with your diet. -

Yes. We do the diet gluten-free, you can to. You already seen it works, and when you added the sugar in (in a big way too) it made you worse and gain weight. That is what normally happens. Return to the diet, and experiment around with replacements for milk. You get most of your fat from the meats typically, so you really do not need the dairy, just will... -

Yes, but I will warn you it bucks the current "best' advice of experts. Go with a HIGH FAT / HIGH PROTEIN/ LOW CARB diet. It was been the ONLY thing to get me stable. I am talking get rid of the grains, sugars, simple carbs, fruit juices, potatoes, and the like. Put back in GOOD fats (like butter) and get rid of bad fats (like Margarine). I get around 60... -

Fine, but her numbers are: 4.6 - 0hour 5.0 - 1hour 4.7 - 2hour 5.0 - 3hour And so on (dont have all her posts in front of me to copy..) That is very much normal and healthy blood response. Home meters are very accurate, they have to be, many diabetics would die if they were not. IMO, I think the most likely is anemia, which needs... -

Georgie, Her numbers do no support that at all. Her numbers are all normal. No lows, no rapid drops, and so forth. -
I always try to arrange travel so I sleep through the time change. It might take altering your schedule a bit before you leave, and short changing your self a bit on the sleep the day you travel but it does seem to help.

ARCHIVED Low Blood Sugar Levels, Anyone Else Dealing With This
VydorScope replied to dally099's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
The first things to check with tired is are you getting enough sleep? Are you eating well? (you said you were) Are you exercising?(you said you were) Are you getting enough liquid? Are you sure theres no gluten sneaking in to your body some how? If all those are yes, the next thing to check is Anemia. Ask your doc to test you. DO NOT just start taking... -

No, I did not say (or if i did its a typo I missed) that your "shouldnt be over 80". All the numbers you gave are NORMAL. Maybe your confused by: At hour 4 if your score is ABOVE 80, retest in 30 mins. There is nothing wrong with the 80 score there, I just say that if you got a normal score at 4 hours, then stretch the test out to 5 hours just to... -

Yep. There are a bout 1/2 doze or so mainstream cereals now. Just read your labels every time, be careful and remember there is ALWAYS a CC risk, and more so with mainstream then the dedicated brands.... -

I wonder what that setting really does. Im guessing its a placebo My Oster ExpressBake was $50 at target and has no such setting yet makes gluten-free bread fine. I just do not tell it other wise. It is great that some more companies are becoming gluten friendly and if I was buying again I might consider spending a bit (not much! Me poor!) more to... -
ARCHIVED Low Blood Sugar Levels, Anyone Else Dealing With This
VydorScope replied to dally099's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
First off, all those numbers are in the NORMAL range. Fasting blood sugar should be 70 - 110. Random readings between meals will be in the 80 - 120 range, but real close to a meal (less then an hour, can be as high as 140 or so. I would say it is likely that what ever is causing your problem is NOT blood sugar related. But if you want to use a easy... -
Frankly why risk it? My Bread Maker, and Oster ExpressBake cost me around $50 at target. It works great when I make gluten-free bread (I use all the normal/medium settings) and it beats the heck out of the oven every time. I know $50 is not exactly free, but $50 to avoid the gluten risk? Its a small price to pay I think!

ARCHIVED Trix Cereal -
VydorScope replied to Run-4-Jesus's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It is not a silly thought. I worry about the GM cereals because they change the ingredients list so much. BUT as a non-celiac disease who has tried the gluten-free and non-gluten-free versions, I can NOT tell a difference in a blind test. So I wonder if maybe they never had wheat, and listed it only because of the CC risk? I dunno. We will likely never know... -

ARCHIVED Could I Have Been A Celiac Previously?
VydorScope replied to Dandelion's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Okay, first off... the biopsy is NEVER EVER negative. It can NEVER EVER rule out celiac disease. That is just the nature of the test. The blood tests could easily show negative after 3 months gluten-free, and as Ursla said it take as while to build up the damage to a level that biopsy or blood test would detect. IN short, the method you used for your testing... -

MOST gluten-free bread sucks. The best one we have found so far is "Bread From Anna" which we order online and make in my Oster ExpressBake Bread Machine on the normal bread settings. Its the only one so far that my son has liked. -

Be careful and re-read the box ever ytime you get one. General Mills has changed the recipe more then once in the time my son has had celiac disease (and he is only 3 years old..). It was not gluten-free, then it was, now it is again. The ingredient they have been messing with is "Wheat Starch" For now, it seems the new boxes are gluten-free. My son has not...
