  1. Tarnalberry does a really good job of explaining this in a thread a little ways down: Open Original Shared Link
  2. Oh, ok. When you said remote northern resort area the first thing I thought was Hayward or maybe near Ashland (not really remote though). Do you know where Eau Claire is? Chippewa Falls is right near there (the home of Leinie's, that I can no longer drink). So you're from Janesville? I used to live in Stoughton, Mt. Horeb and I was born in Pine Bluff. My...
  3. My doctor told me that sometimes when people get it as very young children they can go through a period of remission in their teens and twenties, but it always comes back.
  4. Mine did. It was all whacked out for the first 2 cycles after going gluten-free, but everything is back to normal now.
  5. Yeah, I had to give up my favorite hair product of all time because the second ingredient was "hydrolized wheat protein" and I have a nervous habit of twisting my hair ALL the time. Boo.
  6. Now, I don't shop at sprawlmart ever but I have to know what this means. What are they doing to their meat?? What on earth is it being injected with? Also, Barbara3675, do you live up by Hayward by any chance? I live in Chippewa.
  7. I have never found an otc product that did anything for my DH. I can't take dapsone either, which stinks because it takes weeks for an accidental gluten outbreak to clear up. All I can do really is to use hand cream to keep the areas from drying out and cracking as they heal. I really like bee propylis cream for this, it seems to work much better than regular...
  8. I give my dogs these beef jerky type treats, 100% meat. Also liver treats, 100% meat. I usually buy from www.drsforstersmith.com because they are cheaper than any store. One of my dogs is very allergic to wheat (it's such a common allergen for dogs that I can't believe so many companies use it. I guess it's just cheap). I know a bunch of dog food brands...
  9. Sleepiness, brain fog, night sweats, depression, headaches, dermatitis herpetiformis and just a general "unwell" feeling (I also get GI symptoms, but they aren't severe).
  10. So, I'm just sitting here trying to convince myself that I couldn't possibly have something like Lupus. I mean come on, I don't want that. I have a doctors appointment on Friday, but I guess I'm just feeling nervous and need to comiserate with others who possibly have similar symptoms. Here is my list: - swollen glands - random fevers - occasional...
  11. My feet turn completely white when I'm cold, I just thought of that. They look dead, it's gross. I've never really thought about it before, but sometimes my fingers turn white too. Who knows. I guess I'll find out, right?
  12. The thing is, this person clearly doesn't even know what celiac disease is. And we're supposed to believe in this cure?
  13. I have an appointment this Friday for some tests, and Lupus is apparently first on the list. The list of symptoms that I have aren't really severe, but I had celiac disease symptoms for 10 years that weren't very severe either and I'm not about to let something else go for a decade. My main question is about Raynaud's phenomonen. My hands/fingers and...
  14. My pick for best bread is Grandma Ferdon's egg bread (I don't have a whole foods near me, so I haven't been able to try theirs). www.grandmaferdons.com
  15. Hm. I have pitting, vertical ridges and horizontal "waviness" (not as bad as Beau's lines though). Some of those pictures are really gross.
  16. Ugh, that Ener-G bread. Why on earth do stores keep stocking it? Is it because every new celiac buys one loaf initially, thus making it appear to be a popular item? I had some pretty foul Glutino bread as well, I think it was corn something. I was thinking of using it to insulate the attic.
  17. So....if this pressure point thing is supposed to, what, keep my body from recognizing and mounting an immune response against gluten will it work for other things? Like strychnine? Or arsenic? 'Cause that would be an awesome party trick. I could be like Wesley from The Princess Bride.
  18. Well, yesterday I got him to eat my brown rice spagetti with me! And get this, he said it was good and that he would be fine if we just bought this kind and not the regular noodles anymore. Ha! I am breaking though his resistance. Next to the cinnamon rolls.
  19. That is an interesting possibility. He has some digestive issues, maybe that is what he is worried about. He has more gas than any human being I've ever encountered (sorry ladies, he's taken! ), he gets sick when he drinks beer and sometimes gets a rash on his face from it, I don't think he's had a solid poop in is entire life. I've told him that it might...
  20. Armetta, don't feel bad! I think honesty is really important and hearing multiple points of view is always helpful.
  21. I feel that way too. I just want to have someone else say "hey this isn't too bad" or "this tastes like ass, don't ever buy it again". I think maybe it's because it is still so new, and maybe Tarnalberry is right and he's afraid of somehow hurting me or depriving me. I know it was really hard for him when I first had to go gluten-free and had no clue what...
  22. Well at least he's not the only weirdo out there! I guess all in all it doesn't bother me that much, except that I just can't figure it out. It baffles me.
  23. "he's not going to take anything away from me that I can eat" YES! He has said that to me, that is the reason he gave for not eating the cinnamon rolls! I keep telling him that I can go to the store and get more, the didn't stop making them after I bought that package and I don't need to eat 8 cinnamon rolls all by myself. It's so strange!
  24. Right, he won't eat things (even if he ate them before) that he knows are gluten-free. Basically he won't touch anything I make, even chili which he used to beg for. It's really weird, and I don't even think he realizes or knows why he is doing it. Normally he is very open and frank, and I can't imagine that he is hiding his reasons from me. I think he...
  25. I've debated about posting this, because it seems so stupid. My husband refuses to even try anything that I've cooked or that is labelled gluten-free. He used to love my cooking, but now that I cook gluten-free he won't even taste anything. It's not like I'm making anything bizarre or gross, it's just gluten-free. He also won't even try anything that...
