  1. Yes Dani, just take the capsules for now. You want to add other foods to your "can have" list & not screw it up by doing yogurt --- besides, yogurt has the iodine & unless you get vanilla or plain yogurt then you get sals from the fruity yogurt. One of those balancing act things you don't need to fool with right now. The probiotic caps will enable...
  2. A month ago Dani.
  3. Thanks for the info. IH!
  4. Yoplait only has one culture. 3 cultures is better than none or only one. The Chobani yogurt has these: S. Thermophilus, L. Bulgaricus, L. Acidophilus, BIFIDUS & L. CASEI. And when I first started the yogurt here's what I did..... I wouldn't eat the whole thing or even half of the container. I just got a clean spoon & took out a big heaping...
  5. I can relate. No matter how badly my head is itching i refrain from touching my scalp when I'm anywhere in public view -- including standing just outside our door. It has always been associated with poor hygiene & I think that's been drilled into our heads (pun) from birth! My mom carried a clean toothpick & would use it on her head. She always...
  6. Yup. It seems to be holding me in good stead. Ha-ha-ha-ha --- shopping is a girl's best friend.
  7. SPJ&E, Sounds like a good plan. It does sound as if your 7 yr. old has some real issues which could well be celiac. Why don't you try just feeding him some plain pasta with no sauce --- just maybe butter on it & see what happens. That way you eliminate any sauces as sources of his digestive issues. But considering the history involved I don't have...
  8. Sure thing Nana! This disease does strange things to our brains. Seriously though --- Seriously! I'm glad you are getting some relief from the itchies! Especially while sleeping. That sleep deprivation can make you crazy! And the itchies can make you not want to go to bed. (((HUGS))) dear.
  9. Spread your used coffee grounds around your plants that slugs & snails especially like. The critters will crawl across the coffee grounds & since their heart is in their "foot" they get heart attacks from absorbing the caffeine! Natural, no poison involved & problem solved. Now, I might mention that they don't die immediately but within 24 hours...
  10. I think I'm correct here in saying that's where the herpetiformis part of the name comes into play. DH acts like herpes. I've seen this discussed elsewhere in this forum. In herpes & dh when you get a cut, burn, abrasion, bruise, anything disturbing the skin then the herpes or in this case, the dh often does or can present in that place. The degree to...
  11. I'm sorry I missed this when you first posted it Dani. Great big (((((HUGS)))))!!!!!!!!!! And whoopieeeeee for the pears & salsa. Now, you know the salsa is high sals Dani but I'm just reminding you is all. If you get away with it then by all means ENJOY heartily! I have an idea for your next trial. Cashews - unsalted & salt them yourself with non...
  12. ciamarie brings up a good option. If you can get the ped to agree then it would be the fastest means to an end.
  13. Cracked me up too. I was thinking along the same lines IH.
  14. Do you have a scanner? You could scan it & then upload it here???????? Save an awful lot of typing.
  15. I too believe in getting all your vitamins & minerals from a balanced diet & have always felt that way. In fact my mom taught us that. However, for right now, until my gut heals & I can get the benefit from my food; I need & feel much better from taking supplements. I am going to stop them as soon as it's safe to do so. I'm looking forward...
  16. According to these two sources; even for a dh biopsy you have to be eating gluten so he needs to be off the prednisone yet still eating gluten which is going to be hell b/c there is a rebound effect when going off the steroids. But better done now rather than later in life. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  17. I laughed & laughed & laughed. Thanks!
  18. And tell the doctors that your mom was diagnosed with celiac. And for that matter you might ought to get tested yourself just so you know. It's harder to go back to gluten after you've gone gluten-free. Usually you have much stronger reactions going back on gluten for testing after having been gluten-free for a while. And yes, the prednisone will invalidate...
  19. Oh, and take those photos with you to any doc you go to.
  20. O-M-G! OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG!!!!!!!!! Looking at those pictures (which are fabulous BTW; b/c they show it in such detail) are giving me flashbacks. The photos plus the fact that your mom was diagnosed with celiac ...... that poor baby has dh! And therefore celiac. He must be miserable. I KNOW. He is miserable. Okay, you need to get him tested right away...
  21. Nursing home RV's indeed! Funny girl.
  22. I had bad temper & anxiety & depression from the gluten. Then when I went gluten-free those things continued through the withdrawal period & were at times worse then when I was eating gluten PLUS the brain fog sets your nerves on edge b/c it's SOOOOO hard to think & suddenly you have all these new rules to follow. AND 24/7 famished, eating...
  23. Oh! And wouldn't we just cause a stir about the food & cc issues & true gluten-free eating? We'd be breaking into the kitchens at night & making things right.
  24. Like when we get old & decrepit & get sent to nursing homes? We could plan "break outs". I'd love it!
