  1. I could do that.
  2. Oh Dani, I thought you had. I thought I remembered you posting in it. I must be confused. How are you doing?
  3. I haven't tried the coconut milk or water b/c of iodine content which I was avoiding. I did try the coconut oil but then found it's high in sals sooooooo...... Coconut is off my list for the time being. I have some luscious coconut macaroons sitting here that I ordered & they sit unopened. Hang in there. (((HUGS))))
  4. You're very welcome!
  5. No, no not lazy. I like learning the shortcut talk. I had an idea it was something to do with olive oil but couldn't think it out. Hum. My egg salad sammy tonight will have to be with the crappy mayo with soy in it so I'd have to be very stingy ---- think I'll wait for Monday. It'll be that much better then.
  6. It probably wasn't/isn't dh but it could be a precursor. Or it could simply be what it is -- a raised, red spot. But celiacs tend to have skin issues & many of them resolve when you go gluten-free so it's not surprising that the bump is going away. So just be happy!
  7. LOL! You're so sweeeeeeet. I have it on my grocery list for Monday & will look for it. If I can't find it around town then I may just take you up on your offer to ship me some. Ohhhhhhh, egg salad sandwich. Ohhhhhhhhh....... Soon, very soon I will do it. Hum. Maybe for my after dinner snack tonight! And yeh, I don't want to make my own Mayo...
  8. Remember ---- this was originally posted in June of 2007. I doubt the OP is still around.
  9. gbrennan, Try reading this thread. I was having problems like you are & posted. These good people dissected everything for me & came up with salicylates. Read the thread. It has made a big difference for me. https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91375-upset-confused-venting-scared-frustrated/
  10. Here's what I'm eating Diane ---- about half way down the page. And I might add that the milk & cheese I'm eating is from a local dairy & has less iodine than anything I can get at the store. http://www.celiac.co...ed/page__st__75
  11. It could be that you're unable yet at this point to break down the cellulose in fresh fruits & veggies until your gut heals more. One way to remedy that is to take fresh fruits & veggies & freeze them. Freezing breaks down the cellulose & you may then be able to digest them.
  12. Also you need to be consuming gluten even for the dh biopsy.
  13. Okay, this has been driving me crazy too b/c I have read at least a dozen times what Prickly is saying about needing to be eating gluten for the dh biopsy AND the reason I read that is b/c Prickly posted the links & I bookmarked them. Funny how you can miss things right in front of your eyes. I have been going through my bookmarks for hours & hours...
  14. I thankfully, don't have (fingers crossed) any experience with that. But surely there are others who can give you some tips from their experiences. At least my reply will bump your post up which I'm sure just got lost in the shuffle.
  15. Oh, I know. Remember, I come from a line of Dutch people & who is more stubborn than Dutch? The people who were stubborn enough to build dykes capable of holding back the North Sea. The North Sea which is feared by the most experienced sea captains. The North Sea which is vicious & mighty & has a strength of untold proportions. These people hold...
  16. Well you're not alone anymore! Welcome to the site.
  17. Great point Prickly!
  18. I'm so sorry you're feeling this way. I can't offer anything Skylark has not already. I can only offer sympathy & hugs.
  19. First, dh is not biopsied DIRECTLY ON a lesion. It will turn up a negative. DH is biopsied ADJACENT to an ACTIVE lesion. And then it is stained with a special stain & the derm has to specify to the lab to test for dh or it won't be done. I think you need to find a different derm. One who is familiar with taking biopsies of dh.
  20. Most people with dh have said cortisone cream helps only minimally. I tried it & it did zilch for me. I tried everything under the sun & the things I listed were the only things that gave me any kind of relief at all. One thing you can do right now is to make sure that whatever you're using on him topically is gluten free. And that includes shampoos...
  21. It doesn't have to be that hard to cook right now. Pop some frozen veggies in the nuker & a game hen in the oven. No standing & measuring, stirring etc... Chicken too -- especially a whole one; it will give you more than one meals worth of food. Don't make a sandwich to take to work, just wrap some cold chicken up in foil & grab a piece of fruit...
  22. Can you call his doctor & ask if you can use benzocaine 20% on him? It stops the itch --- really! It won't make the rash go away but it will give him relief. He can't touch it & then touch his eyes. It's the ingredient in Solarcaine, Bactine & Orajel & maybe a few other things. But I wouldn't use it unless his doc says it's okay. I'm not a...
  23. Jane, I'm so sorry. Yep, that sounds weird doesn't it? Sorry you don't have the cursed dh? Well, I'm sure you understand my drift. Now don't go thinking you have cancer. Find out first. Yes, like IH says, you need to have the biopsies explained to you & not 3 weeks from now. And I think cancer is the biggest fear for 90% of people. When I was growing...
  24. What an appropriate term "Victory Vacation". Brings tears to my eyes.
