ARCHIVED Upset, Confused, Venting, Scared & Frustrated
squirmingitch replied to squirmingitch's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
And you Dani, how are you doing? And me, well, I'm better but sort of in a holding pattern right now. Got to a certain point & then just kind of holding. A few heal & I get a few. At least it's at the point where I can deal with it. -
ARCHIVED Crazy Doctor, Crazy Mil, Making Me Crazy
squirmingitch replied to Adalaide's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Oh my dear, you have been through the wringer & I feel so bad this is all happening to you. This is the place to vent, let off steam, rant & rave. It's certainly better than holding it all in where it abscesses & poisons you. I can't give you any better advice than IrishHeart has already proffered. I can send you a million very gentle hugs... -
You just REDUCE your iodine intake not cut out iodine completely. And you really should only do it for about a 2 week period. That doesn't mean to go hog wild on iodine after the 2 weeks is up but if you avoid the really high iodine foods & large quantities of them then you will still be getting enough iodine. A lot of people get a LOT of iodine &...

ARCHIVED Bad Dh Breakout After 5 Months Gluten Free
squirmingitch replied to gbrennan's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
gbrennan, I have come to believe you are on the right track thinking it's the body getting rid of deposits. Also, there is the literature which says that dh can go in & out of "remission" so to speak & do it's own thing coming & going as it pleases which I believe is part of the getting rid of the deposits process. Then there's also the subject... -
ARCHIVED Which Shampoo Do Y'all Use?
squirmingitch replied to GFreeMO's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Funny you should ask about the Aleve & Advil. The day after you posted about your cramps & taking an Aleve, I managed to pull a muscle in the side of my back over my ribs & I COULD NOT stand the pain & hadn't gotten to the compounding pharmacy yet so I took an Aleve b/c ice packs weren't getting it. Then had to break down & take a 2nd... -

JustNana, how long have you been gluten-free? And yes, like Diane says ... iodine & sals. That Aleve & Ibuprofin you took for your hips likely is the reason you woke up with the itching & blisters. I will also mention that sals are cumulative. I'm getting better everyday since I went low sal soooooooo -
ARCHIVED Which Shampoo Do Y'all Use?
squirmingitch replied to GFreeMO's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Oh YES! You can get dh on your head, in your ears, on your ears. Basically, you can get dh anywhere. I use Suave Naturals --- gluten-free & cheap. But I use conditioner on my hair only from the neckline down. Again, you can use the Suave conditioner but I have just been using the conditioner that comes in my Loreal Superior Preference hair color (also... -
ARCHIVED Multivitamin W/o Iodine?
squirmingitch replied to jennynic's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I did that check myself Jenny & I use Solgar brand & it's called "Vitamins Only" - no iodine, no salt, no dairy, no gluten, no soy. They have been working well for me. It doesn't say "no iodine" on the bottle but I called the company & they said there is no iodine in them. -
ARCHIVED What To Have/not Have Aside Form Gluten-Free

I only had problems with dairy for a short time. 1 or 2 months. But I have a big problem with soy --- gives me gas, BAD bloat & belching. -

ARCHIVED Warning! Quinoa Contamination With Barley
squirmingitch replied to squirmingitch's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have 4 boxes of the ancient Harvest sitting here unopened & not of the lot # that is listed as safe in the articles. So I called Ancient Harvest today. When in doubt, go to the source, so I did. Okay, here's what she told me. She read the article that was by the Rabbinical council just like we did. She says Ancient Harvest is NOT affected by any overlay... -
ARCHIVED Warning! Quinoa Contamination With Barley
squirmingitch replied to squirmingitch's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
So you're saying that the drying of the Quinoa that's going on is BEFORE it's hulled & the saponin is rinsed off? I would not be afraid to eat it if this is the case. Now, if the grain is covered AFTER it is hulled & rinsed then I have a problem with it. Thank you Skylark for the religious info. I too find different religious practices interesting... -
Great thinking Prickly!
-
Oh dear, I'm feeling for you, I really am. I'm so sorry you're having to go through this. And period cramps on top of the rest. It seems bound & determined to get you one way or another doesn't it? I think I'd do like Prickly & do a couple 3 shots of something.

ARCHIVED A Month Since Diagnosed With Celiac Now Lactose And Soy Free
squirmingitch replied to sharilee's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Don't eat processed foods. Eat fresh or frozen fruits & veggies, fresh meats. Many celiacs have problems with soy & I am one of those. Also dairy at least at first until some healing happens enough for you to tolerate it. -
YAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy dancing for you.

ARCHIVED Steel Cut Oats And "gluten Free" Products
squirmingitch replied to Rat's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Many celiacs can't tolerate soy. i am one of those. Soy does not affect my dh but I get gas & terrible bloat & belching. Try low iodine --- see if your dh responds --- I bet it will. -
ARCHIVED Having Skin Biopsy Monday
squirmingitch replied to JaneWhoLovesRain's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
And you have to make sure she tells the lab to look for dh. There is a special staining they have to do for it. And if the lab is not told to test for dh then they will not because they don't test the biopsy for dh unless they know they are supposed to; it's not something they do as a matter of course & you will have wasted your time & money. -
I wish dh was a person so I could take it's nuts & wrap them with fishing line & tie it to the trailer hitch of a car & then drive slowly down an asphalt road dragging dh. Then I would stop & get out & take a 38 cal. pistol & shoot dh in one knee & then the other & then I would shoot dh in one elbow & then in the other...

ARCHIVED Upset, Confused, Venting, Scared & Frustrated
squirmingitch replied to squirmingitch's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Oh Steph, that's awful. It seems the more celiac is diagnosed & the more people go gluten-free the more we are going to encounter this kind of thing. I'm sitting here with 4 boxes unopened which I am not going to touch b/c I can't be sure of them. I do wonder if I rinse it very well before I cook it if it would make it okay? Would that clean the particles... -
Sigh. I'm so sorry to hear that it's getting worse. This stuff is a B&%$#! And there are no magic fixes. Great big huge ((((HUGS)))) Gluten-Free.
