  1. Welcome Julie! You will find everyone here to be most helpful.
  2. ciamarie, how long does the mayo keep?
  3. I haven't gotten into soy sauce myself as I never cared for it pre-gluten-free. But from what I gather reading on here normal soy sauce is off limits HOWEVER there are gluten free soy sauces. As a matter of fact I was just making some online orders for gluten-free stuff & ran across a company that sells it but I'm afraid I didn't pay much attention to...
  4. Irishgirl, I am so very glad to hear that you will finally be getting the answers you need! Congratulations!
  5. Karen, please quote to me where I said she should be rude. In fact, I stated she should be nice but firm. Perhaps you took issue with the fact that I had a different opinion than yours. "They have a right to denote this erratic and mentally unstable behavior in your record. Unfortunately, if Squiming is doing this often, her children will have...

    ARCHIVED Dh?

For about the first 3 months you should stick with whole foods. There are 2 major reasons for this. 1) To give your gut time to begin healing. If you give it too much to process too fast then you may find yourself having problems still. Think of it like this: When someone has been very, very ill then you don't start them right out on Tacos or popcorn or buffalo...
  7. I don't & hope I never do BUT know that dh can show up anywhere. The curves of your ears, inside your ears, in your armpits, in your (ah hem) butt crack, the stuff has a mind of it's own. So if you're thinking what you have is not dh because it's on the end of your nose & so many things you read on the med. sites don't say the end of your nose then...
  8. I would GO there on Monday & GET them. The hippa laws state YOU have a right to your medical records & they can not keep them from you. You do not have to give them any reason for wanting your own records & they have no right to ask your reasons nor to determine if your reasons are good enough for them. They are YOUR records. You will likely have...
  9. This question Peter. And you answered it for lucky97.
  10. I don't know but there are those who say it is so. I was just answering your question.
  11. Lucky, No, not things like silverware or stainless pots & pans or plates & glasses & bowls but scratched teflon, wooden spoons & such where gluten may lurk.
  12. Water moccasins scare me because not only do they like to hide but they are MEAN! & will come after you. Shivers! Oh yeah, the coral snakes.
  13. I don't mind the non poisonous snakes but rattlers & moccasins OH MY! But I don't think we have the really, really lethal species of scorpion that you do. At least i hope we don't. 55 yrs. & crossing my fingers. Not saying it -- don't want to jinx myself.
  14. I know, including scorpions. I'm in Florida. We have nasty bugs too. And scorpions.
  15. Okay, since you're in Austin then have you been wearing shorts this winter? You may have sat down on something, even something you didn't know was there. a spot of gasoline on a seat, bench at a park --- something your skin is sensitive to --- something that gave you a chemical burn, something you're allergic to. Any of these things a possibility?
  16. You have to look EVERYWHERE for gluten Tamesis! It lurks in soooooooo many foods. Salad dressings, bullion cubes (some yes, some no). Check everything! Print out the safe & unsafe list from this site & keep a copy in the kitchen & take a copy in your purse for the grocery store. Go through all your cupboards & read all ingredients on every...
  17. Congrats to you too lucia. I think this is a good place to talk about what you are still struggling with. IMHO.
  18. I do a taco-less taco too. Had one for lunch. Minus the cheese (low iodine). Sigh. I want CHEESE! Dinner was BBQ Baby Back Ribs & white acre peas.
  19. LOL! itchy LOL!

    ARCHIVED Dh?

Itchy is right. DH = celiac. I don't tell people I haven't had an "official" diagnosis. I just tell them I am a celiac. If they want to pry & I have time to explain to them then I will tell them I am self diagnosed but that rarely comes up. I know I diagnosed myself correctly & the diet proves it. Furthermore iodine withdrawal stops my dh & makes...
  21. I agree, the hallmark of dh is intense, never ending itching. And it often will itch or sting for 12 hrs. prior to the rash appearing (for me it often does this for 24 hrs. before presenting). It doesn't sound like dh to me. But celiac disease is associated with lots of skin conditions so it still could be related to celiac.

    ARCHIVED Dh?

Good for you! And I forgot a few things: Google thyca.org for low iodine diet Also stay away from MSG Lastly, for say the first 3 months just stick to whole foods only. It will give your gut time to begin healing & give you time to get oriented to all the hidden places gluten lurks & get some of the rules down in your mind. If you try to...
  23. No problem ciamarie --- it happens. Blame it on brain fog. Susie, there is a VERY steep learning curve with a gluten-free diet. We ALL make mistakes. We've been eating one way for our entire lives & suddenly there are all these rules. We can't learn them all overnight & even if we could then we couldn't remember them all ALL the time. Our minds...
  24. " I do have medical insurance so should be ok to get more tests done, BUT... I had no idea I'd have to eat gluten for a while first. Is this truly the case? I can't imagine doing that after reacting so badly last night. " I was responding to this statement of hers.
  25. Yes it does. I copied yesterdays breakfast again today. It worked great for 2 days now.
