  1. Bubba's Mom has now given me a couple laughs today. Thumbs up!
  2. Bubba's Mom you're cracking me up! Thanks, I needed that!
  3. What you're going through is normal for the process. I'm going through the same thing ~~~ it lasts a while. Hungry, bottomless pit. My body is screaming for protein --- very LOUDLY! I'm having issues with eating lots & then getting weak, shaky & "out there" an hour to 1.5 hrs. after eating. The members have told me I need more protein & fat &...
  4. Yes, they can do a blood test to see at what point in the menopause process you are or at least roughly. And they can tell you when you are done with menopause by that. I know because they did the test on me early on in the menopause process. They said I was in the peri-menopause stage which is sort of pre or more accurately "on the cusp" of going fully into...
  5. I agree with zippity & eatmeat.
  6. Welcome vella. Everyone here is so very helpful. Ask anything you need. Look around & get familiar with things.
  7. It was better Marilyn. I ate at 8 but by 11 I was getting what I call the dropsies. This morning I had a banana followed by a bowl of buckwheat about 7:45. In about 10 minutes I'm going to begin making egg white, hash brown, & ham. Thanks for asking. I'm still trying to figure this all out. Never paid much attention to carbs before as I never had any...
  8. Well thanks for the laughs!
  9. I will add that there may be a second grieving process you go through. At least this has been my experience (and I hope there isn't a third!). I got through the first one & was doing real well & then as the learning & discovery takes place once you're ready to start trying to add new foods a 2nd grieving may take place. It's hard to learn all...
  10. Hang in there Christen. I have not experienced such as you but have read many posts of people who did so just try to tough it out. It WILL get better! Be very careful of cross contamination (cc) & watch for those hidden glutens ~~~ it's a minefield out there. The learning curve on this stuff is very steep, VERY STEEP.
  11. YVW. I'm very glad I contacted them. It gives me a lot more options of things to eat!
  12. Also I have read time & time again that dh can flare up all by itself without getting glutened in any manner for anywhere from 6 mos. to 2 yrs. after going strict gluten free. It can do that until all the Iga is out of your skin. How long that takes is dependent upon the individual as well as how much & how often you get accidentally glutened or cc...
  13. Thanks! I have been using BRM also but just am not happy with it.
  14. First ---- WOW! ---- shocked that the 2nd Dr. at the walk in clinic associated it all & came up with celiac. There are hundreds (or more) on this board who can't get docs to listen to them in respect to celiac even when everything is textbook the docs still deny it could even be a possibility. Yes, it sounds like a very good possibility you have celiac...
  15. Tenderloin and 2 slices of Glutino's Flax Bread with Nutella on them.
  16. Last night: Game Hen, rice & petite peas Tonight: Corned Beef with potatoes, carrots, leeks & brussels sprouts and applesauce.
  17. I will add to mushroom's list of high iodine ~~~~ egg yolks, dairy, seafood, soy & soy products particularly because most contain carageenan (sp?) which is kelp, turnip greens, lima beans, broccoli, strawberries, IODIZED salt or any processed foods containing salt as it is likely IODIZED (but may not always be), ham..... See thyca.com for full info...
  18. I haven't heard anyone ever say that they got dh from any other intolerance but I don't know everything. Could you be having an allergic reaction? Also, I have read plenty where after going gluten-free then reactions to glutenings are stronger than pre gluten-free at least in the beginning. I got cc'd 4 or 5 weeks ago & it was rough with the dh ...
  19. Firstly let me say that Glutino products are made in a dedicated gluten free facility. They don't make anything that contains gluten at all. I'm saying this mostly for the newbies to this board. Glutino does not say on their packages nor on their website that they make their stuff in dedicated gluten-free facilities ~~~ I guess to them it's a no brainer but...
  20. It seems that we crave protein after we go gluten free. I know I'm experiencing it. And we need it ~~~ more protein & fat, less carbs. Your blood sugar will thank you for it. It likely has something to do with our body trying to get the nourishment it has been deprived of while we were killing our villi with gluten.
  21. I will certainly do that Gemini. It's funny but I wasn't worried at all about not having my recipe box as all that stuff was pre discovering I had dh/celiac so almost every recipe in there is full of gluten ~~~ being a southerner steeped in gluten LOL! ~~~ aka: coat it in flour & deep fry it!then smother it in greasy, gluteny gravy. OY!
  22. It's really delicious & easy. Most people think it will taste oatmealy but it doesn't at all. It adds just a little chew to the fudge. An old family recipe my mom used to make & thus I grew up making it. Being in the hot & humid south regular fudge can only be made in the coldest, driest time of winter or it will not set up properly. But the oatmeal...
  23. You may wish to give Emu oil a try. It's great for skin & healing. Touted to be wonderful for exzema, psoriasis, & other skin conditions. A real emollient moisturizer.
  24. Interesting Mizzo. I never heard of superfine brown rice flour. What is the brand & where do you get it?
