  1. Captaincrab ...... soooo funny girl! You know why I thought of covering the hair? Yup, me too, down past my derriere. And I was going to say shower cap but if it's hot where you are you could end up with steambath head or a hot head one --- or BOTH! And I was thinking about a bandanna over your mouth & nose UNDERNEATH the mask. Double protection...
  2. OOPS! I think I got confused & it is Woodchuck. LOL! Woodchuck..... Moosehead.... can you see how my thought process was running? Thanks Christine! The hubs likes beer --- I'm not a big fan. We both know he will not like the cider stuff. IH said her hubs likes the New Planet too.
  3. I bought some & use it & have no problems BUT I have not tried the lip products yet. I only got the starter kit which has no lip products in it. I was going to get around to getting some lip gloss as I have been so happy with the other stuff. I have been hesitant though to get the lip products b/c they have castor seed oil in them as do so many products...
  4. The only thing I can find locally is Moosehead "beer" which is actually hard cider with carbonation? The liquor store told me to call them with the kind I want & they will see if they can get it for us. So for you beer lovers which one in your opinion comes closest to tasting like Coors light or Michelob light?
  5. I just called 1-800-566-7252 & spoke to Ashley about Oral B Stages bubble Gum flavor toothpaste & she says it does not contain any gluten. Then I called 1-866-844-2797 about Sensodyne Toothpaste. I was inquiring about Sensodyne Full Protection for healthy gums plus whitening & she said "it may contain traces of gluten" but some of the Sensodyne...
  6. Excellent! You may have posted this elsewhere & I missed it. Been busy getting my hubs to go gluten-free --- yep --- dh rash. Here's hoping you get a firm diagnosis. And be sure & get a copy of the test results & post them. There are those on the forum who can read those things real well. And we're a nosy bunch. Ask any questions any time...
  7. Whew! What a day it's been. Hubs decided after lunch that he would do this. So it's been a mad scramble. We cleaned the gluten stuff out of the cabinets, fridge & freezer. Tomorrow is garbage day & out it goes. The last gluten sponge has been tossed & the last gluten dishtowel & rag are in the laundry. This is going to make it much easier...
  8. Well, with all that in your pocket I'd say it's a good chance you have celiac disease or are at the very least gluten intolerant. So the question is, where do you want to go from here? Do you want to get an official dx? Because you will have to be actively consuming gluten for the tests & that includes the dh biopsy. If you do a trial going gluten...
  9. Ice pack on your forehead Tom. Sorry you're having the headaches. Yes, people report headaches while going through withdrawal. and for what it's worth I had a lot of that shaky feeling a lot of the time. And being able to hear your heart beat --- very annoying.
  10. There are conflicting thoughts on the internet as far as sea salt containing iodine. some say yes in a big way & some say no sooooo..... My feeling is this ---- since I can't be sure then I'll stick with non iodized salt. And some places say even non iodized salt has a little iodine in it.
  11. Gluten graham crackers? Or gluten-free graham crackers? Do you think you may have celiac disease? Do you have any GI issues? Do you have diabetes? Do you have any thyroid problems? Does any one in your family have any of these things? Does anyone in your family have any auto immune disorders?
  12. Awwwwww, you guys are GREAT! I think we pretty well got it covered now thanks to you. Isn't it funny how I know how to shop gluten-free but not for someone who eats a whole different way? And I really worry b/c he eats like Godzilla in the first place --- when that gluten withdrawal kicks in I KNOW I gotta have FOOD & lots of it around here. After dinner...
  13. Along with Dapsone there is sulfapyridine & a couple other antibiotics can be used to treat dh. Open Original Shared Link
  14. We believe my hubs is celiac also as well as having dh which is what really convinced him to do a gluten-free trial. Now I need to go shopping for HIS gluten-free diet tomorrow. He's a different beast from me. I grew up eating a lot of whole foods & snacking on fruit & nuts etc.... Hubs is not that way. I KNOW he should go whole foods to start but...
  15. That's wonderful news! Now, I'm just going to remind you that dh has a mind of it's own & it just might come back from time to time until all the crap gets out of his skin; BUT I think considering the youth of your son that he will have an easy road of it & perhaps you've seen the last of the gluten rash. Fingers crossed! I want you to be seeing...
  16. Ooooo yum! That sounds wonderful.
  17. And it might look sort of silly but can you pin your hair up on your head & cover all with a kerchief or some such type of thing? That way none will get it your hair & then cause you grief.
  18. Terrific! I bet you can make some killer soup with meat, leeks, cabbage, celery & garlic. And how about leek soup? look through the recipe section on the forum for ideas.
  19. Hey, I'm okay with it now that I'm not doing low iodine. I only have it in limited quantities so it's cool. I love the taste of this one & that's why I don't change. Perfect texture, perfect taste.
  20. That's MOL what happened to me too. I unknowingly went high sals on everything! I thought I was eating healthy & I was; I was just eating everything with high sals. Then I hit the wall with sals. Beans --- Fasionista --- you can have beans --- look them up on the sals lists. Dani, I always wondered what that G6PD was.
  21. Thanks for that info. Prickly. Yes, you never know.... just like the ham I found & asked the company if they use iodized salt & the answer was yes.
  22. You know what? I haven't attempted bacon yet myself. And I could eat a river of bacon!!!!!!!! To say I love it would be understating. But here's how I look at the question of bacon.... a) I'm not sure if all bacon is safe or which brands are safe & haven't researched it yet I figure if I'm going to have any kind of reaction to anything it's going to...
  23. I got angry/irritable too when I got glutened & also when I had the reaction to the Quinoa Dani. Good idea about checking the thyroid especially since it takes so long to get the doc appt. there. (((HUGS)))
