  1. You can try just eating aged cheeses & yogurt & see if you still get the bloating. With yogurt & the aged cheeses, the enzymes have pretty much taken care of the lactose in the milk so many find they can tolerate those kinds of dairy.
  2. Rather than fabric gloves which can be awkward, how about using the nitrile gloves like doctor & dentist offices do? I understand you're trying to break him of the touching/pulling at his lips. How about giving him something to replace that habit with? A squeeze ball he can hold in one hand & squeeze. A marble he rolls around in his hand? I...
  3. I discovered the problem with messaging me. I had used up all of my space. 100% full. OOPS! I cleaned out my messages so now there's room again.
  4. @Fbmb Faryn, how sweet of you to worry about me. Thank you. It's always touching to know people are concerned about other people. Thank you for caring. I am good! For the last 6 or 8 months though, it seems like my life is out of control. I have no time and I don't know why. Every day I seem to be running & huffing & puffing just to get a...
  5. You have to eat gluten for 12 weeks EVEN for the dh biopsy. Not just a few days.
  6. It could be dh & then again, it could be many other rashes. The surest way to know is to get a dh biopsy. Yes, you have to be eating a gluten diet for 3 months if you have been eating gluten free. This next is VERY IMPORTANT ~~~~ the biopsy must be taken from clear skin adjacent to an active lesion. If the biopsy is taken ON the lesion then it is NOT...
  7. Was your dh biopsy done correctly? IE: Taken from a CLEAR area ADJACENT to an active lesion NOT ON a lesion. NO, I have not found anything that camoflauges dh until the places begin to fade & then of course makeup can help it to be less noticeable. I have not tried tanning beds, spray tans or tanning creams. Thankfully my dh has not hit my face too...
  8. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Short answer: Yes, you need to do a gluten challenge or you can easily turn up with a false negative on the dh biopsy.
  9. Okay then, you're good to go for a biopsy. Sorry I misunderstood & thought you were off gluten now. Make sure the biopsy is taken correctly from clear skin adjacent to an active lesion. Warning ~~~~ scratching easily destroys the patterning the pathology will be looking for. 60% of us with dh test negative on the blood work so a dh biopsy is the...
  10. If you have an outbreak & have it biopsied for dh, it will turn up negative. Sorry. Just like for the blood tests & the endoscopy, you MUST have been eating gluten. So you would have to do a gluten challenge.
  11. See: Open Original Shared Link Take a copy of that with you or mail it to the doc. How many endoscopic biopsies did they take? Those with dh tend to have patchier damage than "normal" celiacs.
  12. To get a skin biopsy for dh, you STILL have to do the gluten challenge just like for the blood work. Like cyclinglady says, you need to decide if you require a dyed in the wool medical piece of paper diagnosis or not. The bilateral nature of your photos is indicative of dh although other things can present bilaterally but not many. My guess is that...
  13. DH presents bilaterally the vast majority of the time. It itches like an SOB, night & day & will keep you from sleeping. The best way to get a dx is to get a dh biopsy from a dermatologist. A dx of dh is a dx of celiac, no other testing needed. You MUST have been continually eating a gluten diet. VERY IMPORTANT!!!! If you've had a steroid shot...
  14. Have you been diagnosed with celiac disease? This rash is only on your chin?
  15. Well it doesn't matter if she has celiac or not. It's quite clear that gluten will kill her. Again, thank you for the fine information. I can certainly understand why you declined the 12 week gluten challenge. Hopefully one day we will have reliable testing that does not require us to damage ourselves.
  16. Feeneyja, Thank you very much for that very informative, well documented post. I am sure it will help many people. Your post should have a lot of impact as well because you personally raise & eat chickens and have a celiac in the family. Nothing like first hand experience is there?
  17. Hi Meridian & welcome! I'm sorry to tell you but for the dh biopsy you STILL will have to do a gluten challenge. Sad but true. If you've been eating gluten free then the biopsy will come up false negative. BTW, once you stop eating gluten doesn't mean the rash will magically disappear & never pop up again. The antibodies are deposited under...
  18. Even if they don't have payment plans, ask them if they will work on a sliding scale.
  19. Can you find an endodontist who will take payments?
  20. Good analogy. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
  21. gunsandroses, Eat what you like. If you're happy with the foods you're eating then by all means, go forth with that. No need to change unless you desire it. A big clapping of hands to you for doing well!
  22. Yay, Yay!!!! Good for you persisting. This is also a lesson to others on how important it is to get copies of your medical records & check them over yourself . Also, a big WHEW! it's nice to know your doc at least recognizes that only one positive is required to move to the endoscopy.
  23. I had hot flashes like going through menopause. I had swollen lymphs but I can't say they came & went. I could both see & feel mine in my groin area. They went for good after being gluten free for a while.
  24. If you turn out to have celiac, then all first degree relatives should be tested every 2 years in the absence of symptoms & immediately if symptoms present.
  25. Here's the thing too...... you have kids. Celiac is genetic. If you have it and get a bonafied dx, then it will be much, much easier to get your kids tested, not to mention other first degree family members.
