It could be, it could not be but it seems like you're starting to get it other places now besides just on your fingers. The only way to know for sure is to get a dh biopsy. You have to make sure they take the sample on a clear area adjacent to an active lesion AND you MUST have been continually eating gluten or else you will get a false negative. Yes...

Thanks! That's what I will have to use is almond butter as right now peanut butter is a no go for me; it comes under that "other food intolerance" umbrella. -

ARCHIVED 15 yr old daughter celiac?
squirmingitch replied to monicameme's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
No, the control test is to verify that she will react to that particular type of test. If she didn't, then certain of the bloods would not be applicable to her. They would be false negatives. As far as tests being weak positives, that's like being a little pregnant. A positive is a positive. Period. Since she does have one positive that is enough... -
I think Tessa meant to say: You need to be consuming gluten for a TEST to be valid, not for a negative to be valid. I agree with what she said. You should go get the blood testing. But don't think that you can go tomorrow & do it because you've "only" been off gluten a week. That week off gluten could give you a false negative! You don...

ARCHIVED Did my doctor order the right tests?
squirmingitch replied to lsuth3's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
He ordered celiac antibodies........ it depends on the lab. some labs do the whole celiac array & some don't. Was your blood taken at the docs office or do you have to go to a lab & get it taken? If you have to go to a lab, then ask them what specific celiac antibodies they are going to run. If your blood was already taken at the docs office, then... -

ARCHIVED Anxiety, Panic Attacks, dermatitis, Gluten?
squirmingitch replied to 3l3mn8r's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Where did the term take the biopsy from? On a lesion or on clear skin adjacent to a lesion? Anxiety is super common with untreated celiac. All the GI things you named are common with celiac. BTW, you need to be eating gluten everyday for testing for celiac. That includes the dh biopsy, the blood tests & the endoscopy.- 6 replies

1) In the Sargento stuff you're eating, I see SOY, in every. single. one. many of us do not do well with soy, especially in the beginning. For some, soy is anathema for years, maybe for life. 2) I heard you loud & clear about cooking sooooooooo Ensure, Boost, whatever brand, those nutritional drinks. You have a mini fridge in your room you can... -

ARCHIVED Is this really just Gluten Sensitivity?
squirmingitch replied to DrubNonie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You don't have to wait to see the doc in order to get copies of your blood work as well as endoscopy & pathology results if you're in the US. Just request them from the office. Is the docs entire office closed down? That would be the only reason you can't get those copies while the doc is on vacation. In the US, you have the right to copies - it's the... -
ARCHIVED Blood results help
squirmingitch replied to Kelly D's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You have a positive on the TTG IGA. The fact that it's not off the charts high is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is that it is positive. A positive is a positive is a positive. Period. Just like you can't be a little bit pregnant. You either are pregnant or you're not pregnant. This result would, by medical standards set forth for diagnosing... -
HELP PLEASE!! SYMPTOMS?
squirmingitch replied to MayonnaisePlease's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
BTW, you don't get a colonoscopy for celiac disease, you get an endoscopy with biopsies. -
If your doctor will diagnose you based upon the blood work alone then it's your choice to get an endoscopy or not but if the doctor insists on an endoscopy to diagnose you then you need to consider what Gemini said about will you be able to stick firmly to a gluten free diet. The other thing is, if you have kids or not. If you don't have a written diagnosis...

ARCHIVED Do your DH symptoms match this?
squirmingitch replied to Allo-london's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
No I didn't. Actually my back broke out & it began down low, all the way across & then in hours it had moved right on up my back all the way up & across. At the time, I thought it was nerves (as in mental) because I was going through a terribly stressful time. The stress is undoubtably what triggered it. Then by the next day it had crawled over... -
Yes, people with dh still get the gut damage but it can tend to be patchier so make sure the GI understands this & URGE him/her to take 8 instead of the usual 6 biopsies. The thing is though, if you get a positive dh biopsy then you don't need an endoscopy because the dh biopsy is definitive.

ARCHIVED Do your DH symptoms match this?
squirmingitch replied to Allo-london's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
The rash, for me, and I think for most of us from what others have said on here, the sensation follows nerves. I can get rash that itches like mad 3 or 4 inches from the actual lesion. I think it's following the nerve pathways. Before I had my first major outbreak of rash, yes, I would get those sensations like little pops of hot oil landing on my skin. Funny... -

That's right Ennis. I've developed an intolerance to peanuts though so now I have to find nut flours with no exposure to peanuts. It's getting trickier. I have managed to find an almond flour free of peanut exposure as well as a coconut flour.

You're so welcome Jewels! It's literally taken me years to rat it all out. I can't tell you how many calls & emails I made besides spending reams of hours on the computer doing the pre leg work before calls or emails.
