  1. Open Original Shared Link This where I got my son's silly yak shirt. I see now that they have sweatshirts in kid sizes!! He loves the silly yak. Also, on back of the t-shirt I got him, it gives a definition of celiac disease that's very good for promoting awareness.
  2. That's one fancy website. The pictures of the food are great.
  3. I think the jar is better. If I recall, the powder has msg and some react to that.
  4. Carrielynn, You mention your son not having cognitive delays and that's great. Would you consider having him stay back a year to facilitate the social goals of school? If his gait is that of a much younger child, that might not improve and be on par with the other kids for some years. That kind of issue is important because it may keep a kid from participating...
  5. Optimism is great, but it has to be tempered with a dash of realism. A young child who has significant growth issues is NOT likely to make up all he missed. celiac3270, was your celiac triggered even at a very young age? Or did it kick in after being a toddler? I think this makes a difference. There are large Celiacs out there, but they probably didn...
  6. Teased already??? Gee, my son is 7 and in the first grade this year. He did kinder twice. He's the same size NOW as his classmates since being left back. But still one of the smaller kids. No one teases him. I'm shocked to hear that the kids are that aware at that age. I would talk to the teacher and make any harrassment stop right now. Kids can be...

    ARCHIVED Question--

As the parent of a celiac kid, I would like to add that all of the learning has been great mental gymnastics- keeping my mind from atrophying <- did I spell that correctly?
  10. We got the WholeFoods 365 Organic vanilla flavored rice milk, and it is so good all of my kids will drink it plain. It's also CHEAP.
  11. My Wholefoods just got in their bakery products today!!!! I toasted the heel of the bread to try it out before serving my kids and it was so good. I can't believe it's taken four years to get this bread. It's so good. I also got blueberry muffins, chocolate chip cookies and cherry almond streusel. I can only hope they're as good as the bread!
  12. https://www.celiac.com/st_prod.html?p_prodi...-28105149040.82 Here is a link to the forbidden foods list. It says that maltodextrin and dextrins in the U.S. are probably all fine. We've never had a problem with them.
  13. Nuts...homemade trail mix with the things you like in it. We like the candied pineapples and cashews and yogurt raisins and ener g pretzels. Chebe bread balls. They stay fine for awhile in a baggie. If you have a freezie pack you can add cream cheese to them or peanut butter. Kinnikinnick bagel with peanut butter. Then you don't even have to toast...
  14. Could it be your gallbladder?
  15. Have you read the book Dangerous Grains? You can order it at Amazon. I think you're left with making a decision to include gluten grains in your diet, or not. After reading DG, I made my entire family gluten free. We've been very happy with the diet and encountered no problems. My celiac disease kid is thrilled that we've all joined him, of course. ...
  16. Peanut butter and fluff...oh, My kids would trade me for you in a heartbeat.
  17. Please steal my "recipe". Notice I gave no measurements. I make this stuff up as I go. My kids are very afraid of my cooking...but this was a success!
  18. We made garlic chebe with Buitoni pesto sauce, extra garlic salt, minced garlic (from a jar), colby/jack cheese and shredded chicken that I had boiled. I used a little extra oil and water instead of milk. We rolled them into sticks. When they were done, we ate them with sides of spaghetti sauce. They were very good. We had a large spinach salad for veggies...
  19. Well, that was one crappy dr to threaten child protective services before suggesting parenting classes or a visit with a nutritionist. Why jump to the worst conclusion...you're deliberately starving your child? Testing of young children is unreliable, so the dr who ran tests wasn't on the ball so much, either. Try the diet. Must be 100% gluten-free in...
  20. I meant Mozzerella, of course. Wouldn't want you to think it was some weird Chreese concoction.
  21. I've never frozen tinkyadas, but they do hold up well in a thermos for kids going to school. They don't get mushy. I don't know about deboles. You'll probably have to try a small portion out to see if they turn to mush after freezing then reheating. Knowing that they stay firm enough while being kept warm should mean they'll make a great "daily special...
  22. It's fine... Just don't use the one with flour added for baking.
  23. Tinkyada spaghetti and meatballs Meatball pizza on Kinnikinnick crusts Sloppy pizzas Kinnikinnick crusts, sloppy joe sauce with chopped meat and mozzarella cheese Split pea and ham soup Chicken cordon bleu....pound out chicken, layer thin ham & fav cheese close with a skewer..bake. Make a gluten free gravey with the pan drippings and cornstarch...
