  1. Thanks. I changed my doctor today because they told me schedualing the tests ...One, they've never done this b4 so they have to find out who does the testing and two, the person who does the schedualing is very busy and the office is closed on fridays....so I'll have to wait until sometime next week for them to come up with a referral to the ent and the...
  2. Open Original Shared Link Very tasty bread, donuts, bagels, pizza crusts. Order tons. Shipping on orders up to $200 is only $10. Store in freezer. Open Original Shared Link Here are two good sites for ordering tasty food. Shipping is reasonable at Kinn- Chebe, not so reasonable. However, Chebe is very versitile, I shudder at the...
  3. Ok, I've found some links... Nothing too definitive or clear for me to print out and offer any help. Is there a better site for this connection? If I can't find anything I feel comfortable sharing with the lady, I won't bother to even bring it up. I just felt really bad for her *I don't know her* listening to my friend talking about how she's doing very...
  4. A friend told me today of her neighbor who has uc. She mentioned that her neighbor is in very poor health recently from the uc. I was thinking it might be related to celiac disease. Is is? I didn't see it in the list of related disorders. Can someone clarify for me?
  5. Thanks for the info...and the calming tone. Yes, I'm a little shocked by that disease being mentioned ... It so happens that 4 years ago when my son was dx with celiac disease, the first thing they thought he had was cf. I was like --- "I'd like to look into the Celiac a little more...." That's one of the reasons I've been so "happy" he has celiac disease...

  7. The school nurse told me that nasal polyps are often related to allergies. Does anyone out there have the polyps? If so, what types of things are you allergic to or do you attribute your nasal polyps to? I know the CF connection and am trying not to think about that one at all. The dr is setting up the chloride sweat patch test now to rule that OUT...
  8. Could nasal polyps be attributed to gluten intolerance???? My 7 year old celiac disease kid has always had bloody noses. I thought it was due to gluten or some other sensitivity since I'd had him looked at and they said they saw nothing. So today I took him in because he's had a bloody nose for a week - on and off. They tell me he has polyps. So I looked...
  9. Ok, thanks. I was thinking maybe they used some "natural" way of de-glutening something gluteny. We've had no problems with the Stax, but I stopped buying them because of msg and those new warnings about frying potatoes in high heated oil... Ok, my info is vague, but I know there's some concern.
  10. There's no harm in trying it. You can try homeschooling during summer vacation to see if it's something that works for you. I would recommend the "Making the Grade...Everything your ___ grader needs to know" series. It's published by Barron's and the author is Elena R. Arrigo. I loved the guideline it provided. I purchased all of my other books (and...
  11. My kids did well academically for the year we homeschooled. My son was tested the following year and placed in the gifted program. My daugher learned all of her cursive, mulitplication and basic division before third grade. It's fairly easy to teach kids academics in a homeschool environment because of the time you can devote to individual instruction...
  12. Don't they say "Naturally gluten free"? I was wondering if that's some fancy word-play meaning something other than "gluten free".
  13. Just don't buy tuna already made from a deli... I worked in a deli when I was ... wow, much younger... ANYWAY, they added breadcrumbs. I suddenly feel very old...
  14. Well, I wouldn't expect people who chose to homeschool to acknowledge the negatives. That's like admitting they made a bad choice. There is a defensive reaction to chosing something that isn't considered "the norm". Sometimes that is manifested in an impossibly perfect description of *reality*. I find the over the top, wonderful stories about how great...

  17. Maybe you could plan a handful of gluten free meals and stick with those only for the next month. Varied, but simple meals. Ensure the gluten free status of those meals/snacks and do a kind of healing/cleansing menue for a month to see if improvements occur. Now you know about the toothpaste, so you're really JUST starting the diet. People really don...
  18. Well, that was a very polite and thorough letter. I like them even if I can't take my son to eat there!
  19. I bought a ham this week that has gluten in it. I was shocked. I'd never gotten a ham with gluten before. Thank God I read the ingredients.
  20. I would provide the snack for my child. I have found that teaching my child that he may NOT eat anything I haven't approved, is the key to our success. I do not want him to ever take food from a "stranger". Everyone's best intentions combine to create a catastrophe where a Celiac is concerned. "Can he eat apples?" becomes dehydrated apples, or caramel...
  21. Msg can cause some problems.
  22. There are some really interesting oils out there. I've found a variety of oils at WholeFoods. I use different oils for different foods. I even use it when making mashed potatoes and it's fine.
  23. We're using the Kraft quick cooking Minute Tapioca. Kraft is supposed to be conscientious about gluten.
  24. Are you guys getting enough iron? Taking multivitamins?

    ARCHIVED Dh And Cd

I'm confused. I thought you couldn't have celiac disease unless you have villi damage. So ,you cannot have dh without celiac disease, but you can have dh and no villi damage? Could it be that dh is a form of sensitivity that hasn't morphed into full blown celiac disease yet? A friend of mine.. *two friends this week asked for advice on celiac disease...
