  1. Cute! And wow! I'm so glad you are both having health improvements! I have a similar story - I was diagnosed with celiac 6 mos ago, and upon going gluten and dairy free, my boyfriend who has a bad case of crohns disease has gone into remission since joining me on the diet! Gluten has got to be horrible for everyone with digestive distresses, right?
  2. I think berries and really ripe bananas are supposed to be pretty good. I found your post looking for my own information on fructose intolerance. How is it that we're randomly having this problem after 6 months? I thought these sorts of things would be on the way out...
  3. Glad to hear that things are improving. I was curious too. This can be quite a battle.

  4. I find that when my psoriasis flares, I do seem to notice an increase in malabsorption of fructose and other things, so I would guess that there is some mild damage. However, it goes away in a few days, rather than a few weeks after a glutening, so I would think Skylark is on the right track
  5. Do any of you gluten free soy free people take singulair chewables (5mg, or 4mg, I think they have the same ingredients). I called and they say that it does not contain any obvious gluten or soy ingredients (duh!) but they weren't sure of the source of the natural cherry flavor. Can natural flavors specified as "cherry" or another fruit or something still...
  6. My brother used to live in Seattle. Nice city.

  7. Hi there. I saw that you had visited my profile and thought I'd check you out. Hope you are doing well.

  8. Were you walking a lot? My GI symptoms are mediated by lots of exercise. Also, depending on your tolerance, it could just be that the flour over there has a lower gluten content and you can handle it better. I second the dairy comment above...
  9. Ugh that sounds so frustrating!!! My family likes to pretend I don't have dietary restrictions and continues to try and make me plates full of allergens and whatnot around the holidays. I try my best to make sure I'm the first one to suggest a place to eat when we go out, and always google and call some gluten free places around my parents when I'm in...
  10. Thanks for the replies! I'll call Monday and post their reply.
  11. Does anyone know if Woodchuck cider is soy and dairy free? Darn those natural flavors!
  12. Yay!!! Thanks for posting this - it made my day!
  13. My boyfriend has a really bad case of crohns and could not get his symptoms under control after a bowel resection and strong meds. He met me, went dairy and gluten free when I did (ironically I always avoided wheat in general because I didn't like it, then ate it all the time when he was the chef and I got insanely sick!). He now has no symptoms, no meds...
  14. Thanks for all the replies! I'm toying with the idea of testing the test to see if there could be any truth to it. There are definitely a couple negative results for foods I know I react to, and some positive results that seem totally of, but why not experiment a little bit and see if a few of them could be a hidden suspect The reads on leaky gut...
  15. Hi Everyone, I recently took the York 96 food intolerance test because I am having trouble figuring out what foods are bothering me after going gluten free. Here are my baffling results: 1.) Only a low reaction to gluten, when my IgG antibodies on my blood tests from my physician still show that they are 4x the "normal" high (eeek!) 2.) An off...
  16. I would think less gluten would definitely be better. I cut down on most wheat things when I first suspected a wheat "allergy", but did not remove all gluten. I felt SO MUCH better. Then my sensitivity went up after going fully gluten free to the point where tiny traces destroy me (I am celiac, not a wheat allergy like I originally thought). I think a...
  17. Thanks so much IrishHeart! You can absolutely move the topic over. I'd do it myself but I'm not sure how... Great idea with the slow cooker! I do have a small one I should be able to bring, and I talked to the people at the station and it looks like I can get temporary use of a plug I also have access to a microwave. Do I need to be careful...
  18. Just remember that celiac disease can have very severe symptoms and that it affects everyone differently. It is very possible it is just celiac. But you'll know soon enough, so make yourself a nice cup of gluten free tea, and watch a movie or do something else that is distracting. Also, at least you have doctor's involvement, so you will get help and they...
  19. Sounds like a similar course to me. Mine slowly got much better over the first 4 months gluten free, but I recently relapsed before discovering my soy intolerance, and am back in square one. But again my DH seems to be occupying less and less area.
  20. I don't eat any processed foods (unless you count olive oil...). I eat a lot of fruits, vegetables, and all unseasoned meats and fish are fine. Root vegetables are great too, so rutabagas, beets, parsnips, etc. Olives and squashes, you'd be surprised how many foods are still left even when you eliminate a ton. I recently found I am intolerant to coconut...
  21. Hi Everyone! I need to spend 5 weeks at a field station and do not know what I am going to do about food! Here are the details: 1.) Access to a grocery store about once a week (phew!) 2.) Kitchen access once (maybe twice) a week, but it is not super clean. I get one shelf in a refrigerator. 3.) Shared "dorm" style living. Other than that...
  22. Hey Beth! I have never tried the Kirkland brand chicken breast, but I found their canned tuna and salmon to be safe and I am sensitive to gluten under 5ppm. Could you be sensitive to soy or anything else that many celiacs react to? Trust your body! Maybe try eating everything else again to make sure you haven't developed some sort of other intolerance...
  23. I've seen that soy has a high risk of cross contamination in the fields as it is grown in rotation with wheat. If you're bothered by soy flour, maybe that could be the problem? I wish I had those at home test strips...
  24. I'm so sorry to hear you're overwhelmed!!! I was diagnosed 3 months ago, and I definitely understand all the stresses with changing your diet and still feeling ill. I'm celiac, and my husband has crohns, so we eat a low residue gluten-free diet when we eat together (which is pretty much always). I still feel sick often, as I'm finding I react to other things...
