  1. Contadina tomato paste with Italian Seasonings is NOT gluten free.
  2. No pickles, don't worry. The law says your home must accommodate your diet - it's a medical nessesity, just like the diabetic diet. I expect the meals they prepare will be rather bland though, you'll want to add your own bread, treats, etc... Now will SSD pay for the extra (gluten free) food? Hmmm. Interesting, I'm on disablity too and I never...
  3. The honey rice Puffins are great. You can get them (here in the south florida) at any Publix store that has a decent size "GreenWise" (organic/specialty food) section. Whole Foods carries them, obviously, and Publix Corp. is starting a new kind of store, to compete with Whole Foods, called GreenWise. We don't have a Whole Foods nearby so we're anxiously awaiting...
  4. Go to their website, click on the "contact us" link and then just email guest relations and ask for their gluten free menu items - they're pretty quick to reply too.
  5. I thought I'd pass on this response from Oralabs. I'm glad they're gluten-free, they have great flavors and they're petroleum free. OraLabs, Inc. 18685 E. Plaza Drive Parker, CO 80134 E-mail: arapp@oralabs.com PH. 303-783-9499, ext. 3258 Fax 303-783-5759 www.oralabs.com Hi Wally, Our Lip Naturals Herbal formulas do not include any gluten...
  6. I've been tempted, walking down the grocery store isle - the cherry pop tarts call to me. But then I think about all that gluten ripping and shredding it's way through my small intestine and pop tarts lose their appeal. Besides, why bother! That's the great thing about the gluten free diet - there's no forbidden foods, just forbidden ingredients. Now...
  7. I'd think the change in your diet and your ablilty to absorb nutrients would have a bigger effect. I've had a hair loss problem the last few years and I just started gluten-free in June. It'll be interesting to see what improves with the diet. I did check my shampoos/conditioners/soaps though, every little bit helps!
  8. Isn't the caramel coloring in cola sometimes made with barley? I have no problem with diet Coke but the store brand diet cola makes me queasy.
  9. I lucked out, my doc took six biopsies and one came back positive for mild atrophy. It's like playing lotto, you may get one or two numbers or none at all. Besides, it's an autoimmune disease! They change; they flare up then die back down, go silent, go into remission - then jump back to life again. I don't know how doctors think they can diagnose celiac...
  10. I'm a believer in gluten intolerance/gluten sensitivty/celiac all being one illness - what's now referred to by doctors as celiac is actually just the end stage of the disease, GI and GS are the early stages. JMHO. That being said. . . Celiac is an autoimmune disorder and they're notorious for being sneaky and changable - they can jump back and forth...

    ARCHIVED Just A Quick Question?

How long have you been on prednisone? When I took it for my rheumatoid arthritis it gave me crazy hunger, no matter how much I ate and I ate ALOT! In the middle of the night I'd wake up just STARVING and that would be after a day of eating everything I could get my hands on. I gained 50 lbs in six months. Other side effects were night sweats, mood swings...
  12. Vitamin K deficiency can cause easy bruising. I use an injectable medication so, needless to say, I noticed it right away!
  13. I've had reactions to onion powder as well. Kraft puts out the "Back to Nature" brand which has two rice cracker options, sesame ginger and white cheddar. The white cheddar is great but I got sick off of it - my best guess is the onion powder. Although Kraft insists they always list a gluten source. I'm a newbie so maybe I missed something! I do wish...
  14. I just noticed this on the bottom of my Kame rice crackers - "this product may contain trace amounts of peanuts, soy, wheat..." and some other allergen I can't remember. Have Kame products always been cross contaminated or is this something new?
