  1. The Mi-Del faux Oreos. I just bought a case (from Amazon) of the MD royal vanilla sandwich cookies and I use those ginger snaps to make a ginger crust for cheese cake. {Homer Simpson Voice} Mmmm. Cheesecaaake.
  2. My first GI doc asked me right before the endo, "Do you want to be a little awake or a little asleep?". I choose "a little awake" and I remember quite a bit of the exam. I still was drugged and woozy but felt no pain and I recovered very quickly. I felt respected and able to maintain a sense of personal control. My second GI doc had an assembly line operation...
  3. I've said the exact same thing, whispering it to myself, then thinking, "Now stop talking to yourself!". About the pain, you don't have arthritis do you? Play alot of tennis/racketball? I have what Viola mentioned - although mine's got a H and a D in there too , costochondritis. I have it from long term rheumatoid but alot of the time they don...
  4. Wheat allergy has a sudden onset, with typical allergic reactions, and could escalate to anaphylatic shock. Wheat intolerance/sensitivity has a much slower onset and more chronic symptoms, some of which you described, infertility and loss of tooth enamel. Celiac disease is an inherited autoimmune disorder. I'm sure you've probably found this page...
  5. Sounds like constipation. Does the gluten-soy-casein-corn restricted diet allow for enough fiber? Water? Glad to hear his appetite has improved, at least his body seems to like this new intolerance-free food - even if he can't quite digest it yet.
  6. Hi Dale and welcome! I found this on the Traditional Medicinals website. . . Do any of your products contain gluten? Celiac patients are advised to avoid food ingredients containing gluten and/or its derivatives (e.g. gliadin). Certain grains such as barley, oat, rye and wheat contain proteins that are composed of prolamins and/or glutelins....
  7. I get heart thumps occasionally too, I have PVCs. I've had them at night and it's a weird feeling to wake up to that thud/flup . You should see your family doctor to find out why you're so fatigued though and to rule out anything more serious. From the American Heart Assoc. website: Premature ventricular contraction (PVC) Premature beats or extra...
  8. Open Original Shared Link Back to Nature is a Kraft company, they should clearly state any gluten source. (That doesn't cover cc issues of course.) I've eaten the white cheddar with no problems. My mother who's been gluten-free 40+ years, won't eat them. The coating spooks her and she trusts Kraft about as far as she can throw them.
  9. Wow, I heard something like that was in the works but I didn't know it was out already. I hope it's for real, that would be great - especially for kids. I'm off to google! . . . and I'm back! It's the same company as York allergy testing. I can't open their website for some reason (yorkallergyusa.com) maybe they're merging under the new name....
  10. Well, I like you Doll. (And I'm not even Canadian, gasp!)
  11. Enterolab is not necessarily accepted by the mainstream medical community. Dr. Fine's patented "discovery" has not been published in a peer reviewed medical journal.
  12. Where are you? What grocery store chain/s are you looking for? I just bought Turtle Mountain's Soy Delicious Purely Decadent Purely Vanilla in Publix (with a dollar instant coupon no less ). It tastes more like frozen custard than traditional ice cream, but that's fine by me! Open Original Shared Link
  13. From the ultra scary "Forbidden List" . . . "1) If this ingredient is made in North America it is likely to be gluten-free. 3) The problem with caramel color is it may or may not contain gluten depending on how it is manufactured. In the USA caramel color must conform with the FDA standard of identity from 21CFR CH.1. This statute says: "the color...
  14. For the South Carolina area - Lowes Foods (grocery store) brand maraschino cherries are gluten-free. Open Original Shared Link
  15. The usual suspects. caramel color vanillin
  16. Not. GV brands have been labeling gluten-free status for, I think, over a year. Maybe ? I can't remember when they first came out with this. It's been awhile, all the packaging should have changed by now. I use McCormicks. If you're in the south, Publix (grocery store) brand almond, lemon and vanilla extracts are gluten-free.
  17. Yes, generic brands of soda are iffy. Was it Good Value brand? The WalMart GV brand lists "gluten free" under the ingredients, if so. Or was it the Sam's Club brand soda? I've noticed while the GV brand lists gluten-free status, their Sam's Club brands have not yet followed suit.
  18. Thanks everybody! I've always had headaches with Splenda but not Equal strangely enough. Maybe I'll buy some nice bottled water and some fruit juice, lay off the fizzy stuff for awhile. See what happens when I reintroduce Equal.
  19. I wouldn't buy anything from a bin - flour, nuts, beans, candies - way too suspicious. If your health food store can sell some/all of it to you before they put it into the bins - find out what day their shipment comes in - that seems ok. Who are the suppliers? Are they reliable?
  20. Your tests were normal. Zero does not mean zero gluten. TTG is more specific for celiac but considering the major improvements in your IGA and IGG, I wouldn't think further testing is nessesary. I'd wait till the next bloodwork to get the TTG/IGA/IGG.
  21. I agree with the other posters. The careful use of steroids can help in the short term but long term treatment is reserved for serious illness because of the many, many side effects - weight gain, brittle bones (osteoporosis), reduced growth in children, cataracts and elevated blood sugar, just to name a few. It is used in refractory celiac, celiac...
  22. I can't explain it. I know Coca Cola says all their sodas are gluten free which should mean no risk of x-contamination either (unless somebody drops their ham sandwich on the way to lunch ) but I keep getting sick - burning, bloating - everytime I try to drink diet Sprite. My mother won't drink it at all. She's certain it's cc. My question is has anyone...
  23. I've gotten sick after eating Amy's Enchilada, (maybe too spicy for me?) their Mac & Cheese, (maybe too much cheese, lactose reaction, even tho I've been able to eat dairy for months?) and one of their frozen meals (maybe too many beans! ). In any case they don't make anything I can't make better at home. I'm in no rush, so convenience food isn...
  24. It reduces acid in the stomach and slows the movement of the gut. I haven't heard of it directly being used for celiac but it sounds like it could be helpful! Open Original Shared Link
  25. Toffee may or may not contain gluten depending on the ingredients, manufacturing process and - in the case of bins - how it's stored. You can damage your small intestine and irritate your immune system without noticeable symptoms, that is until they catch up to you. Subtle signs of vitamin deficiencies and latent autoimmune disorders can crop up weeks...
