  1. Green coconuts have more milk and riper brown coconuts have more meat. <--- yellow coconut or yellow bowling ball?
  2. Lucky devil! The closest to us is an hour or more away. Since it's next to the nearest Whole Foods as well, we make it a "all day" event. Have fun at PF Changs! Order some singapore noodles for me!
  3. I've found the best "straight men" in the business are health food store employees and Chinese (w/ english as a second language) waiters. Health food store: "No, Spelt is good for celiacs! It's organic wheat." Emphasis on "ooorgaaanic". Try saying "poooisooon". Chinese restaurant: "Flowers? We don't use flowers." (Do you use flour in the sauce....
  4. This is my favorite simple dressing. I hope it follows your diet. 1/2 c oil 1/3 c honey 1/4 lime or lemon juice (Lime blends much better with the honey flavor, I think) 1 tbsp mustard, dijon or otherwise.
  5. I'm thinking along the same lines as Raven. Is it this woman's personal website? Or a photo-share site like Snapfish or Picasa? If it's a photo share site the monies go to the website, not her.
  6. Some more gluten-free Candy Corn/Harvest Blends - Farley's, Sather's, Target brand, Jelly Belly. Brach's/Brock's is not.
  7. Wow! I had no idea. We've eaten at local (S FL) Chili's many times - with lists in hand, talked gluten-free with wait staff/manager - I've never seen the binder. I'll ask for it specifically next time. Thanks!
  8. Order it naked. Er. . .um, what I mean is "without seasoning". If you go to a steakhouse say, steak + plain baked potato should be ok, as long as you order the steak w/o seasoning or sauce. (Or in restaurant lingo, "naked")
  9. Chili's doesn't have a gluten-free menu. The list of gluten-free items on the website is just that, a list of suggested menu items. You need to bring the list with you to places like that - McD's, Panera's, Wendy's, Subway, Carvel, etc. You'll also need to go back to the website every month or so to check for changes. PF Changs, Legal Seafood, Bonefish...
  10. There's a risk of cc (cross contamination) in GV products that don't specifically label gluten-free and say that they're "produced in a facility. . . with wheat", even if all the ingredients look gluten-free.
  11. What brand? I couldn't find "People's Choice" anywhere (well, not anywhere - amazon and drugstore.com and google ) So is that the brand name, or something different? The ingredients certainly look gluten-free. You can get E that specifically says gluten-free if you're worried about cc. I use Nature Made. From their Vit E label - "No Artificial...
  12. I don't know if they're soy free too, sorry. Megz - Yup, Farley Harvest/Pumpkin mixes are gluten-free.
  13. Not everyone has mood problems with prednisone. If you have a family history of mood disorder you are at greater risk. My sister an I were both on prednisone at the same time, me for RA and my sis for ulcerative colitis, we had the typical side effects - crazy appetite, rounded face, hot flashes and mood swings. My sis worked with a woman, tiny thin person...
  14. Reply from Simply Organic - "Thank you for your interest in Frontier. We don't provide a gluten free statement for our products since the facility and production lines haven't been verified to run as such. We don't add any gluten to our product; however some do have naturally occurring gluten. If there is anything else we can do to assist you please let...
  15. Tone's - Durkee - Spice Islands brand sent me their gluten-free list. (All one company) They were very quick in responding, I was impressed. I have a lengthy list of idividual spices that's too long to post here but here's some bits n' pieces. Spice Islands - Salt Free, Grilling Gourmet and World Flavors - all gluten-free. Spice Island Specialty - Beau...
  16. I contacted them last week and got the usual spiel - they don't know if their candy contains gluten or not so all Brach's should be considered off limits till they "do more research". I guess it's better than those companies that say, "Oh, yeah it's gluten-free. . . kinda, maybe, what's gluten again?"
  17. I eat thai's instant noodles all the time with no trouble. I've never had their bowls or boxed noodles though. La Choy soy sauce is gluten-free. Here's a Open Original Shared Link to Thai Kitchen's Allergen Info webpage. Looks like their garlic noodle bowl is gluten-free. There is a stir fry savory garlic noodle meal that's not gluten-free.
  18. McCormick and Mrs Dash is gluten-free. I emailed "Simply Organic" spices (found them on amazon), waiting for reply. Last I heard Spice Islands will only vouch for their pure spices, not mixes. I'm suprised Whole Foods didn't have the 365 brand spices in their gluten-free list. Are they just so obviously gluten-free that they didn't bother or does WF's not...
  19. I'm 5'4 and 3/4 (I'll take every quarter inch I can) My short stature is due to juvenile arthritis tho, not celiac. My mom, who had severe, almost fatal, malnutrition in infancy due to celiac is 5'4. I have two non-celiac siblings, my sister who's 5'5 and my brother's 6'. (I may be shorter but they're older. )
  20. Brush those teeth after all that candy corn! Farley's, Sather's and Jelly Belly also have gluten-free candy corn/harvest mixes.
  21. I have rheumatoid arthritis (on SSD), sjogren's, bipolar, celiac and I've been getting bouts with nausea I think are caused by gallstones. I had an upper abdo ultrasound which didn't show any but apparently stones can hide in the ducts, or tubes, or whatever. Have you had any upper right abdo soreness/pains? Gallstones can be triggered after the start...

    ARCHIVED Need Info...

I wonder if it is caused by the gluten-free diet - your improved health and new n' improved hormone function. I have bipolar disorder and I haven't noticed any mood trouble after a year+ on the diet, although I take lithium - a mood stablizer - not an anti-depressent. I don't know of any direct link between celiac disease and mood disorders. Do you take...
  23. All Teva products are gluten-free. I take generic lodine too, 500mg, from PurePac. (Now merged with Actavis) The manufactuer name should be on the Rx sticker on the bottle, just after the drug name or dose. It's easy to miss.
  24. Snyder's of Hanover makes a decent Veggie Chip. Ingredients are: Whole potato flour, canola oil, tomato puree, spinach and beet powders, turmeric, salt. The brand name is "EatSmart". "Allergy Information: Produced in a facility that handles peanut butter." Their gluten-free list - "The following list of products are all gluten free: Blue Corn~Tillas...
