  1. Hi, DelphicDragon. I had my blood panels (done years apart) twice and both came back negative. I was positive on biopsy only. As far as your test results (I don't know what the laws are outside the US) those tests are YOUR property, they must comply and give you copies. I don't think I'd feel comfortable going to a doctor who "wouldn't tell me", yikes...
  2. A goose walks into a bar. The bartender asks, "Why so down?" . . . A man and a duck are walking down the street together. Suddenly the man notices a low flying plane headed right for them and he yells, "DUCK!" - The duck turns around and angrily shouts back, "MAN!!". . . . This guy walks into a bar, pulls out a tiny piano and stool, and a tiny...
  3. An Irish Priest and a Rabbi get into a car accident. They both get out of their cars and stumble over to the side of the road. The Rabbi says, "Oy vey! What a wreck!" The Priest asks him, "Are you all right Rabbi?" The Rabbi responds, "Just a little shaken." The Priest pulls a flask of whiskey from his coat and says, "Here, drink some of this it will...
  4. Here's the Open Original Shared Link on malabsorbtion syndromes. Notice this is the old edition - under celiac it lists prelavence in the US to be 1 in 5000! (The updated version should be online Oct 14.) I have a Merck Manual from the 1950s, it's so bad it's funny.

  6. I agree with the smart people above me . I know if I had a dog and didn't switch to gluten-free food and treats, I'd be washing my hands 50 times a day! Is there a Celiac support group in your area? Your husband could go with you, hear first hand - and not second hand from "those crazy people on the internet". Hee
  7. Yes, yes and yes. I had the symptoms of celiac for 6-7 years before diagnosis and had only mild damage on biopsy, and my bloodwork came back normal twice. Damage to the villi are measured using the Marsh Scale. From the University of Iowa website: "The Marsh stages scale, derived from a study of patients with known celiac disease who were fed...
  8. Ok. I need glasses. I missed the "de" in "organicdepot.com". I reread that first paragraph 3 times before I caught it.

  10. As a kid I remember how exciting it was to get a onion ring (accidentally) with my fries. Now I think of it with horror.
  11. What grocery store are you going to? What grocery stores are in your area? I ask because some stores are more celiac friendly than others. In general you'll have better luck in a newer, larger store. Try going to the website of the store, click on "contact us", ask if they have a gluten-free list for their brand products. They'll snail mail or email the list...
  12. I wouldn't eat Amy's food if they made it on the moon. (. . . well, maybe if they made gluten-free pop tarts. On the moon. )
  13. Sorry this is late - I hope your appointment went well. Here's your doctor's Open Original Shared Link
  14. Mgb98, there are many very good gluten-free supplements out there. Your doctor can tell you better what vitamin or mineral deficiencies you may have and how much you should be supplementing.
  15. Thanks Cluecke! Perfect timing, I'm just about to start making my grocery list. Glad to see all three organic Swansons broth on there, I wonder why they only label the beef gluten-free? Maybe they're in the process of changing their packaging.
  16. It could be from something else; another food intolerance, transient virus, GERD, PMS, etc. Or you have hidden gluten in your diet somewhere.
  17. Hi Kasia, I always thought a "smooth" duodenum was normal and "scalloping" was abnormal but I guess there are all kinds of signs they can see in there! I found this abstract from the Journal of Digestive Diseases and Sciences. I wonder if "loss of Kerkring's fold" is what she meant by smooth? "Abstract: Duodenoscopy in celiac disease has identified...
  18. The Triumph card is a great idea. It should be in standard Mandarin, the official language. Google translator of "gluten": 面筋
  19. Yes, I think they've only been open for a year, give or take. We may have been the first .
  20. Tried Bonefish, it was excellent. Upscale prices but the quality (and quantity) of food is good. They don't serve lunch - at least not ours in Stuart, FL They open at 4pm. Waitstaff appeared shocked by the request for gluten-free menus (we may have been the first) but did seem to have a general knowledge of what "gluten-free" meant. Their gluten-free...
  21. Always read the ingredients first. <--puts on reading glasses--> gluten-free regular size candy bars (last I heard) - Milky Way Midnight, Snickers, Rolos, Mr. Goodbar, Almond Joy, Junior Mints, Mary Janes, Milk Duds, Clark Bars, Haviland Thin Mints, York Peppermint Paddies, Baby Ruth, Rasinets, Butterfinger, Nestle Turtles, Three Musketeers...
  22. My mother and I watched it together and we both cracked up when they showed the family eating those sad, flat little cupcakes! I remember baking things that looked like that. Someone send that woman some gluten-free baking mix, stat! Good show. Lots of coverage. . .get ready for the onslaught of newbies.
  23. Apples and grapes are notoriously diarrhetic , or is that what you meant? Your symptoms sound like gluten to me, or lactose intolerance. (No blood, right? That could be uclerative colitis.) Have you checked everywhere? Crumbs or residue in the oven/toaster/non stick pans/wooden utencils. Vitamins, medications, do you drink flavored water? Is there some...
